How to unlock the Dark Victory achievement in The Walking Dead: A New Frontier - Definitive Guide
Once buried David, left the place so you should got the ACHIEVEMENT at that moment, otherwise quickly restart the game if you don't want to repeat the entire chapter.
Story-related and cannot be missed.
Ending 1: Javier and Clementine go after Gabe and David together.
Javier and Clementine go on the motorcycle and eventually find their car, with both Gabe and David inside and alive. Javier tells Clementine to kill walkers from the David's side while he does the same from Gabe's. They manage to save both of them. After talking to David, he decides to part ways with everyone since he can't change. Javier can chose to convince him to go back (depending on your relationship with David, he says that he won't do it [he changes his mind later]), disagrees (resulting in David continuing to walk), or to keep walking (leaving David's fate unknown). Javier, Clementine, and Gabe go back to Richmond, where they meet Jesus. With the help of Gabe, Javier pushes the button on the top of the gate to open it. After that, Javier, Clementine, and Gabe start looking for Kate, eventually finding her as walker. Javier can choose to shoot her or leave her as walker. If Javier convinced David to come back, he returns to Richmond. After three days, Javier and Gabe talk about Kate, David, and Mariana. Judging from the dialog, David is still alive and in Richmond again, but refuses to talk to Javier and Gabe. (if you convinced him to return).
Ending 2: Javier and Clementine help Kate save Richmond together.
Javier and Clem shoot walkers with guns while Kate drives a bulldozer. On the way to the gate, they encounter Jesus. Javier jumps into the "busket" of the bulldozer and is lifted up to the top of the gate, where he presses the button and opens the gate. After that, Jesus' group decides to get walkers, which managed to get inside, into one large group and lead them out, while Javier's group decides to plug the breach to stop more walkers from entering. When Javier's gun is out of ammunition, he changes positions with Kate, and uses the truck from "Thicker Than Water" to plug the breach. They meet Jesus after that and Kate stays behind, while Javier and Clementine go after Gabe and David. They discover their car overrun, with David dead and Gabe nearby, bitten on the wrist. While they say goodbye to him, Gabe gives Clementine his cards to teach AJ euchre, and then depending on the endings of The Walking Dead: Season Two, Clementine kisses Gabe (if you went with Jane), hugs him twice (if you went with Kenny), holds his hand and tells him to be strong for whatever comes next (if you went alone), or says that him dying is wrong and that he deserved better (if you went to Wellington). Javier then has the choice to give the gun to Gabe so that he can kill himself, or Javier can shoot Gabe himself. After three days, Javier and Kate talk about Gabe and Mariana, and depending on your choice in "Thicker Than Water", Javier starts a relationship with Kate, rejects her (if you shared the feelings), Javier agrees or disagrees to distance himself from Kate (if you rejected her feelings).
Ending 3: Javier goes after Gabe and David while Clementine helps Kate save Richmond.
Javier alone goes on the motorcycle, leaving Clementine and Kate behind. He manages to find their car, but since he is alone, he manages only to kill walkers on Gabe's side, which results in David being bitten on the neck. After saying goodbye to David, Javier gives his gun to Gabe, and he shoots David in the head. He and Gabe then return to Richmond, where they meet Jesus. Javier then opens the gate with Gabe's help. They then meet up with Clementine and she informs them that her and Kate got separated after they sealed the gate. Kate is nowhere to be found, as nobody is able to find her, making Kate's fate unknown, but for the characters she is presumed dead. The game jumps three days forward and Javier talks with Gabe about Kate, David, and Mariana.
Ending 4: Javier helps Kate save Richmond while Clementine goes after Gabe and David.
Clementine takes the motorcycle and leaves Javier and Kate behind. While shooting the walkers, Javier and Kate meet Jesus. Javier jumps into the "busket" of the bulldozer and is able to open the gate. After that, they decide to plug the breach, so no more walkers can get inside. Javier's gun runs out of ammunition, so Javier changes positions with Kate and then plugs the breach with the truck from "Thicker Than Water". After talking with Jesus, Clementine comes back with an injured but not bitten Gabe, and informs them of David's death. Javier and Kate then go on the place where he died. They found his body and Kate takes his dog tags. She explains why, and then with the help of Javier, buries them. Javier can say some last words to David's "grave", and Kate leaves her wedding ring on said "grave". After three days Javier and Kate talk about David. Depending on your choice in "Thicker Than Water", Javier starts a relationship with Kate, rejects her (if you shared the feelings), or Javier agrees or disagrees to distance himself from Kate (if you rejected her feelings).
This trophy will be earned afterwards.
This achievement is story-related and cannot be missed.
Based on your final choice in Chapter 3, Javi eithers accompanies Kate to Richmond to help seal the breach or goes after David and Gabe. Depending on that choice will determine the outcome of this chapter.
If you help Kate first, you seal the breach with the help of Jesus and his friends. When you’ve got everything under control and depending on if Clem stayed with Javi or went after Gabe at the end of Chapter 3, Javi goes off to find David.
If you went after David first, you find the crashed truck and have to fight a bunch of walkers. Depending on if Clem went with Javi or Kate determines how that scene plays out. When it is over, Javi returns to Richmond in hopes to reunite with Kate.
The achievement unlocks as the chapter ends.
