How to unlock the Goodbye achievement in The Walking Dead: The Final Season - Definitive Guide

SPOILERS

Near the end of the Act 1 after you cross the rushing water, you will be in a cave with AJ. After some dialogue you will get a choice between saying you trust AJ to make the right choice when it comes to killing someone, or that he isn't ready yet. (You get an achievement for either choice so you may want to make a backup save during this scene)

For this achievement, say that you trust him to make that choice. Now continue playing into Act 2. There is a scene on a bridge then you climb a cliff - the achievement pops after that scene.

Choosing the other option (you don't think AJ is ready yet) will unlock the You and Me achievement instead.

@FaSCoRP in main menu, go to settings, saved games, and use X to copy your save to another slot.

@amenazamenor Not sure what happened, I finally gave up on trying to get it. But now it is unlocked and I haven't even booted up the game in 2 days. So hopefully yours will unlock too on its own.

This achiviement was buggy for me. I didn't get with in the first playthrought -> James was killed in Ep. 3.
In the 2nd run James stayed alive in Ep. 3 -> so he was in the cave in Ep. 4.
It seems this is a requirement to get the chevvo.

With James in Ep. 4 I was able to get this achiviement and the opposite.

Obviously this will contain spoilers, but I have tried to limit this solely to the requirements to unlock the achievements

NOTE: Make a backup after crossing the stream as this is a multiple path achievement

MISSABLE

During Act 1 in the cave after you cross the riverbank, you'll be talking to AJ and will have to make a choice to trust him or not. Decide to trust him by picking the dialogue choice "You've earned it.". In Act 2 when trying to cross the bridge, AJ will make a choice due to you trusting him. After you've crossed the bridge and made your way up the cliff to escape, the trophy will pop.

To unlock the Goodbye trophy in The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 4, you will need to choose a specific conversation option when you are talking to AJ towards the end of Act 1.

There are two trophies that will unlock depending on which conversation choice you make, so you should want to make a separate save at this point to unlock the trophy below as well:

Not a guide, just a note in case anyone else runs into this issue...

My copy save was glitching out after I used that strategy for episode 1. After that, it wouldn't let me copy. It would just overwrite as a blank save. Not sure if anyone else ran into this glitch, but I didn't see it posted anywhere when it happened to me and thought I was going nuts. So, making it known for anyone else running into this issue.

Anyway, since my copy save wasn't working / glitching out, I had to replay this episode again after the first achievement popped to get the other one. Definitely longer than getting to use the copy save strat, but at least there are episode selects!

Note: For the other episode achievement guides that say make the copy first, they were doable without that by hard quitting after the achievement popped.

This trophy depends on the choice: if you trusted in the cave, Hey Jay will be given this trophy, if not, they will give you the You and Me trophy.

In order not to waste a lot of time replaying the episode, make a backup save as soon as you cross the river in the cave, i.e. before choosing whether to trust AJ or not. This way you can quickly knock out the “You And Me” trophy.

In the cave, AJ needs to be told that YOU TRUST HIM.
The achievement will appear after you cross the bridge in the story, and not immediately.

As soon as you cross the river in the cave, go to the main menu and in the game settings create a copy of the current save, so as not to replay the entire episode in order to achieve You And Me / You and I
