How to unlock the To Make It Look Nice achievement in The Walking Dead: The Final Season - Definitive Guide

Episode 1 has a total of 6 collectibles which can all be grabbed in one playthrough, if done correctly. Some of the collectibles will require you to make specific dialogue choices, or play through certain optional sections.

Their locations can be found below:
1 - Deer Skull - Act 1 - 0:11
2 - Plastic Flowers - Act 1 - 0:52
3 - Real Flowers - Act 1 - 1:28
4 - AJ’s Drawing - Act 1 - 1:58
5 - Cat Skull - Act 2 (Fishing) - 2:41
6 - Tenn’s Drawing - Act 2 - 3:15
Placing all the Collectibles - Act 3 - 3:52

After collecting all 6, Act 3 will be begin, and you will be able to immediately place everything inside the room before blowing out the candle. Do so to unlock this achievement.

For AJ's drawing it made me place it as soon as I got it.

I had same experience but once you are in the room to put collectibles up, it gives you the option to look at AJs pic that’s right next to the other kids drawing. I looked at both drawings as I was counting to make sure I did 6 actions before blowing out the candle.

I made sure I walked to the right of that candle by a wide margin as I did not want to blow out the candle before putting flowers on table as it did at first for me. As soon as I put the flowers in which was the 6th action for me, the achievement popped instantly.

EDIT: I just blew out the candle now and it does give you the option to back out so no worries on accidentally blowing out the candle before putting up the 6 collectibles.

So I placed the real flowers on the grave when paying respects. Did I screw this up?

Stag: no. You didn’t place THOSE flowers. Violet gives AJ other flowers to put on the grave.

Also, You don’t have to keep the drawing kit from Violet to get the drawing. She lets AJ finish it

Here's a video guide that I made going over the collectible locations and where to put them inside the sleeping quarters. I've also made some notes on where you can find each collectible along with the video.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 1 Collectible Guide

In total there are 6 collectibles and they are as follows...
Deer Skull - Can be found at the train yard at the start of the game, walk down the alleyway that is past the tree with the swing on it.

Fake Flowers - Can be found under the stairs where you have to find AJ after waking up. Look for the Find AJ confirmation at the top of your screen.

Real Flowers - Can be found when you have to help AJ make some friends. It is in the far right corner from where you spawn and it is on a bench.

AJ Drawing - This is where you are in the sleeping quarters and violet comes in and ask for the colouring box. I gave it back to her and the presented with the drawing by AJ.

Cat Skull - It is imperative that you select the Fishing option when Marlon ask you which place you want to go. Once inside the fishing hut it is directly behind you on top the smashed up fire place.

Ten Drawing - You are having a conversation with Ten after you come back from your second visit to the train yard, and he asks you if you want to be drawn into the poster. I selected Yes and was able to unlock it.

Now that's all the collectible locations. Next I will describe where you can put them in the sleeping quarters.

Cat Skull - Can be placed on the shelf on the right side of the room.
Deer Skull - Can be placed above the door.
Ten Poster - Place it next to the AJ Poster.
Fake Flowers - Can be placed on the shelf next to the AJ poster.
Real Flowers - Can be placed on the bedside cabinet by the window.

You can get the Cat Skull if you go with the Hunting option. Facing away from Louis and toward Aasim, it's to your left and behind you, when you're about 5 or 6 steps away from Aasim.

 - Collect all 6 collectibles from the episode,and when your in your room in act 3, before you leave, MAKE SURE to place all 6 collectibles shown in the video to get this.

*Missable*

To unlock this achievement, you'll first need to collect all 6 collectibles across acts 1 and 2. Refer to the "Scavenger" achievement solution for where to find each one.

Once you've collected all 6, at the start of Act 3 once you're back in control of Clem, you must place all 6 collectibles around your room before blowing out the candle. Doing so makes the story progress and you'll miss this achievement. One of the drawing collectibles is already hung up. The other five go in the following places:

  1. On the wall next to the hung painting.
  2. On top of the door.
  3. Next to the candle.
  4. On the dresser.
  5. On the shelf by the drawings.

After placing all five, this achievement will unlock.

MISSABLE

There is a total of six items you will need to find. There are four in Act 1 and two in Act 2. Once you have them all, at the start of Act 3 you'll be in your room and able to place them in various spots. Do so before blowing out the candle and going to sleep.

Act 1

  1. Deer Skull - At the start of the game, you'll be driving in a car and arrive at a house. Go on the left side of the house before you enter it to pick up the skull.
  2. Plastic Flowers - When you start looking for AJ in the school, you'll see a set of stairs. Walk behind them to find the flowers.
  3. Real Flowers - When you’re set with the task to help AJ make friends, in the top right corner by the school (where the brick pillars are) will be the flowers sitting on a stone bench.
  4. AJ's Drawing - After dinner, AJ will be drawing a picture and Violet will come in asking about the art supplies. Let AJ keep the supplies, else you won't get the drawing.

Act 2

  1. Cat Skull - Choose to go fishing at the start of Act 2. When you arrive at the area and gain control of Clem, turn around and you will see the skull on the fireplace.
  2. Tenn's Drawing - After coming back from the train station in Act 2, Tenn will be drawing a picture. Pick to be included in the picture and he will give it to you.

Place all collectibles in the room. Deer Skull above the door. On the cabinet there is a Rabbit Skull. Attach two drawings (AJ and Ten) to the wall. Also, two flowers (one artificial, the other natural) must be placed in vases. The first place where you can place it is a table between the bunk beds, the second is on the shelf to the left of the drawings.
