I would like to add that the achievement still unlocked for me despite the fact I only did the Endrega, Nekker, and Rottfiend contracts. I had the other contracts active but I never completed them as I continued on with the main quest. The achievement unlocked during the dragon fight.

You don't have to complete the gargoyle contract to get the achievement, You just need to accept it and let it fail at the fight with the Dragon.

There are 4 quests in the game you need to complete for this achievement. These quests are found on the notice board. In the main town in each chapter.

In Chapter 1:
Do the nekker (requires grapeshot bombs) and endrega quests.

Chapter 2 Roche:
Do the rotfiend quest.

Chapter 2 Ivoreth:
Do the harpy quest

Chapter 3:
Kill the gargoyles. (You must complete the quest by disabling all the runes, you cannot just kill all the gargoyles.)

For the gargoyle quest, you must disable the runes in a certain order. There are 4 runes. Art/Beauty, Sky, Time, and Animals. Read the hints in each room and match them to each rune. Example: "Behold the comet/ It is like a wolf in times of scarceness/ An evil lullaby"

Means: Sky - Animal - Time - Art/Beauty

The achievement has been known to unlock early during the gargoyle quest but is random and you still need to do all the other quests before it.

to confirm, are 2 playthroughs of the game required to pop this achievement or do we need to complete Roches quest OR Iorveths quest for act 2?

There's a glitch to skip the Gargoyle contract in Chapter 3.

-Complete the Nekker and Endrega contracts in Chapter 1.
-Complete either the Harpy or Rotfiend Contract in Chapter 2 depending on who you sided with.
-Accept the Gargoyle contract from the notice board BEFORE going to the end (meet Roche or Iorveth at the ampitheater). Achievement will pop after the ampitheater cutscene and before you run up the stairs to fight the dragon.

You must have the quest in your quest log in order to trigger the glitch, which counts the quest as completed for some reason even though it fails. It did not work for me the first time I tried without accepting the contract.

Saves a lot of time since the final contract is long and a pain in the ass.

I can confirm that this method still works (even as a BC title), though I question whether it's a glitch. It says to finish them all. It does not say complete them all.

NOTE: I completed the Nekker, Endrega, and Harpy ones before failing the Gargoyle one. It would be interesting if someone were to fail every contract (pick up the quests and not do them).

There are a total of four quests that involve the destruction of monster nests throughout the three chapters. You can buy a book or series of books to complete the knowledge portion of the contracts, or simply keep killing the enemies you need to gain knowledge on them. The one in Chapter II varies depending on whether you sided with Roche or Iorveth, but either path will net the achievement. I will break down the contracts in each chapter:

Chapter I

Chapter II

  • The Rotfiend Contract (Roche's path) (click to see map of the corpses you need to inspect)
  • The Harpy Contract (Iorveth's path) (location of the lair is at the bottom of the chasm near Vergen, near the hut housing the guy who wants you to bring him harpy feathers)

Chapter III

  • The Gargoyle Contract (click to see a video walkthrough of the locations of the runes as well as how to solve them within Loc Muinne)

Once you complete "The Gargoyle Contract" in Chapter III, no matter what path you take, the achievement will unlock.
