How to unlock the Brawl Master achievement in THE WITCHER 3: WILD HUNT - Definitive Guide

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt - Brawl Master - Complete all fistfighting quests in Velen, Skellige and Novigrad. [15G]

There are 14 fistfights that you must win to unlock the Brawl Master achievement. After winning a fight you will receive a fistfighting questline for that region. You can then track this side quest to see the next fight highlighted on the map. It doesn't matter in what order you do the first 3 fights of each map. But the fourth fight (champion) is only unlocked after the other 3 fighters have been defeated.
The fights get increasingly harder with every map. If you have too much trouble, then lower the difficulty in the game options. The basic strategy for every fight is to counter (or dodge) an opponents attack, then use 3 quick strikes to hurt him.

The fights are available at any time. Just walk up to the Bookie to start fighting. If you lose a fight you can replay it by talking to the Bookie again (or load last checkpoint). Unlocking the very last fight requires you to complete a side quest to get rid off a wraith that haunts the arena. Let the wraith defeat you in combat and talk to the guards in the watchtower near the arena to unlock the last fight. If you die against the champion of champions you need to reload the last save game to try again.

I got Brawler but not this. Do I have to go to Spikeroog like the guy said? It didn't give me a quest for it.

So I tried it again from scratch, started a new game Blood and Wine only(DLC) on easy, Since you start at level 34 and you can fast travel to skellige from the beginning, it was pretty quick and easy. Just make a save before the facing the Champion of champions. Still followed this guide so thanks!

Can you finish the fights after main story line so you can turn down the difficulty? I'm playing on Death March and cant win fights in skellige

Might be worth mentioning that Skellige isn't unlocked until you complete the
, which is recommended to be level 14-15 and you'll need 1000 coin to pay the captain to sail you there.

This (and seemingly every other guide on the internet) seems to be skipping over what appears to be the hardest part of this achievement: Actually starting the quest in the first place.

I have tried everything I can imagine to get any of the fights in Velen to appear, but they just aren't there. The quest isn't in my list and I have no idea how to get it there. Is there some prerequisite to get these to show up that literally nowhere on the internet is mentioning? I saw someone mention a notice board post that starts it, but I've checked every board in Velen and found no such thing.

Edit: Ok, it turns out I foolishly missed the Notice Board in Crow's Perch, which appears to be the only one containing this quest. So if anyone was a bit puzzled by that like I was, there's your answer.

MAKE SURE YOU SAVE BEFORE YOU TALK TO THE BOOKIE TO START THE FIGHT.

Not only is this achievement missable, it's also buggy as shit. I had an issue where after defeating the final opponent, the achievement didn't pop. I reloaded my prior save and fought the champion 3 times to no avail. In order to get this to pop, I had to perform a hard reset on my system (hold down power button for 30 seconds), load up my save again, and FINALLY got it on my 4th attempt. If this happens to you, try this. It should work.

This helped me so much! I was terrified when it didn't pop and as soon as I booted up the game again after the hard reset it popped! Thank you!

For anyone struggling with the fights, I've found an easy way to beat the final champion. Simply make sure you have the gourmet perk equipped and just eat some food before you agree to fight. That way if you're in trouble you can just keep out of the way until your health regenerates.

Not sure if this works for all fights as I only discovered it before the final one.

Another tip for fighting, heavy attacks seem to soft stunlock opponents. I'm on deathmarch and am having no issues in fights, just press Y infinitely. Takes more time, because opponents block about 90% of all heavy attacks, but after a dozen or so hits, their guard drops for a brief second allowing you to hit them twice before their guards up again. When in doubt, Y your way out. I also started testing a combo that yields pretty similar result: Fast>heavy>heavy, fast>heav>heavy etc. I use it just to break the monotany. (not sure ive spelt it right) 2 fast and 2 heavy just barely gives your opponent enough breathing room to divide your health by .01, so just have patience. Will soon be hitting the dudes in Skellige, so i hope my ''strats'' remain valid.

In total, there are exactly 13 fistfights in the Northern Realms that must be completed for this achievement. There are 4 in Velen, another 4 in Novigrad, and 5 in Skellige. Refer to the checklist below for the general area of each fistfight.

Velen

  • Inn at the Crossroads
  • Lindenvale
  • Blackbough
  • Crow’s Perch

Novigrad

  • Hierarch Square
  • Oxenfurt Gate
  • Novigrad Docks
  • Glory Gate

Skellige

  • Kaer Trolde Harbor
  • Arinbjorn
  • Harviken
  • Urialla Harbor
  • Hov [Champion of Champions Fight]

In order for the fights in the aforementioned towns/villages to spawn, you will need to pick up a note on a notice board in that region that mentions "Fist Fights." This will then activate the "Fists of Fury" side quest for that region. Make sure to set this as your active quest as a means of tracking your opponents/fights on the world map.

Be aware that the fourth fight of each region (Championship Fight) will only be available once all prior fights in that region have been completed. Also, you’ll notice that the fights will increase in difficulty, so keep basic combat tactics in mind: counter/dodge the incoming attack, then perform 2-3 fast punches (or 1-2 strong punches), then repeat until your opponent has been defeated. If you happen to lose during a fight, you can enter the brawl again by speaking with the bookie or reloading a previous save file if you want to save your crowns.

The fights in each region will be available at any time during your playthrough, so you can begin working on this achievement as early or as late as you wish. After the 12th fight, you will need to complete a side quest called "Master of the Arena" for the arena guards in Hov (Skellige) before unlocking the Champions of Champions fight. Once this side quest has been completed, return to the guards in the watchtower near the arena in Hov and the final fight will unlock. Defeating the Champion of Champions here will then finally unlock the achievement. If you die against the Champion of Champions, you must reload your previous save file (or previous auto-save checkpoint) and try again since the fight cannot be repeated.

*Missable Trophy*
There are 14 fistfights that you must win to unlock the Brawl Master trophy. After winning a fight you will receive a fistfighting questline for that region. You can then track this side quest to see the next fight highlighted on the map. It does not matter in what order you do the first 3 fights of each map. But the fourth fight (champion) is only unlocked after the other 3 fighters have been defeated.

The fights get increasingly harder with every map. If you have too much trouble, then lower the difficulty (make a backup save if your doing Death March) in the game options. The basic strategy for every fight is to counter (or dodge) an opponent’s attack, then use 3 quick strikes to hurt him.

The fights will become available after completing the "Bloody Baron" main story quest in Velen. If you die or lose against the champion of champions you need to reload the last save game to try again.

There are only 14 fist fights needed for this trophy. After winning the battle, you will receive a task with a fist fight associated with this region. It doesn't matter in what order you will fight the first 3 battles on each map. But the fourth battle (champion) will open only when you defeat the other three fighters. With each map the battles become more and more difficult, so if you are experiencing difficulty, then reduce the difficulty of the game in the settings. The main strategy in each battle is to initially block the blow or dodge and then carry out 3 quick attacking strikes.

It's easier for everyone to fight this way. Make a counterattack (press L2 before hitting), 3 hits, move away and do it again. We take no damage with any opponent.

The easiest way to win any fist fight against a single opponent of any level is to spam a strong attack. It's long and tedious, but it always works. More details in my video guide at 30:04:

A small but pleasant bug. Before all the fist fights, you can eat something and immediately start the quest dialogue. The food “hangs” on you until the end of the battle. If you are beaten, stay in the block, lives will be restored. You can continue the fight. Used it several times, it works.

Save before the last fight with the troll, you cannot beat him!

I did it by accident once, and later I did the same: before starting the fight, place Roach in the middle of the fighting arena. During the battle, there is a high chance that she will kick the enemy with her hooves (unbelievable, but true) and destroy about 20% of his health + send him to lie on the grass, which will give you the opportunity to carry out a series of attacks with impunity.

It works out well this way: You move to a distance and go at the enemy, while when he approaches he removes the block and wants to swing, then you deal him 3 blows. It always works, the main thing is not to squeeze it into a corner)

I went through all the fist fights (except for the last one - the troll) by “spamming” a strong attack (quickly press triangle) - thanks to the video tip from Zardarius . The enemy sometimes becomes a block, but after five hits he opens up and gets hit in the face. With a troll it’s different - hit with a strong attack of 3 strikes, jump back, wait for the moment and hit again. And by the way, during the battle with the troll I used food and Swallow. The game was played, naturally, at the “To Death!” level.

When fighting a troll, as far as I understand, the effects of food are preserved, so you can upgrade your “Gourmet” and eat something, then the battle with him will be much easier.

Even on maximum difficulty, the battles are generally very easy. Just push enemies (LT just before they hit) and hit back. The quests themselves are taken to notice boards.

The final troll is also easy to defeat. The arena is big, he's slow. Dodge it and hit the sides and back. But don't forget to save before the final battle! It is given only 1 attempt.
