How to unlock the Geralt: The Professional achievement in THE WITCHER 3: WILD HUNT - Definitive Guide

Note: I will be updating this shortly with more information (battle strategy, weaknesses, etc). If you have tips, please tell me!

There are a grand total of 26 Witcher Contracts to complete. Every single one is listed as a Contract in your quest log, so there should be no confusion.

Progression, Difficulty and Level have no effect on this achievement. So you can wait until after you've finished the game on Death March!, set the difficulty down, and then blow up the low level enemies in seconds. If you're struggling with any of the fights, this is the way to go.

Reports in the comments say that you can choose to not kill enemies when given the chance and still get the achievement. The only thing you must kill is Woodland Beast (which isn't listed as a Contract, though it may be - there's a separate achievement for it).

White Orchard
(3) Contract: Devil by the Well (Notice Board in White Orchard) (Tip: Use Yrden to deal more damage. I didn't and used Quen instead on Death March - it was slower, but safer)

Velen
Contract: The Griffin from the Highlands (Optional according to comments below, though I cannot confirm - Part of Secondary Quest: Master Armorers in Velen - Speak with Fergus, the Blacksmith in Crow's Perch, to start)
(10) Contract: Jenny O' the Woods (Notice Board in Midcopse) (Tip: Use Yrden to deal more damage. When she splits into three, use your crossbow to 1-shot the parts)
(10) Contract: The Merry Widow (Notice Board in Lindenvale)
(33) Contract: Missing Brother (Notice Board at the Inn of the Crossroads)
(20) Contract: Mysterious Tracks (Notice Board in Lindenvale)
(22) Contract: The Mystery of the Byways Murders (Notice Board in Oreton)
(7) Contract: Patrol Gone Missing (Notice Board across from quartermaster's tent at the Niflgaardian Central Army Camp)
(23) Contract: Phantom of the Trade Route (Speak with a refugee in Benek in far East Velen)
(8) Contract: Shrieker (Notice Board in Crow's Perch)
(12) Contract: Swamp Thing (Villager to the west of The Orphans of Crookback Bog) (Tip: Use Aard to knock the Foglet out of the mists so you can attack it)
(6) Contract: Woodland Beast (Various Notice Boards in Novigrad and Northern Velen)

Novigrad
(14) Contract: The Apiarian Phantom (Notice Board in Beanston)
(35) Contract: The Creature from the Oxenfurt Forest (Notice Board in Oxenfurt)
(15) Contract: Deadly Delights (Notice Board in Hierarch Square)
(24) Contract: Doors Slamming Shut (Notice Board in Hierarch Square)
(13) Contract: An Elusive Thief (Notice Board in Hierarch Square)
(25) Contract: Lord of the Wood (Notice Board at the Cunny of the Goose Inn)
(26) Contract: The Oxenfurt Drunk (Notice Board near the Oxenfurt Port)
(16) Contract: The White Lady (Notice Board between Portside and Glory Gates, south of Novigrad's walls)

Skellige
(28) Contract: Dragon (Notice Board in Fyresdal)
(19) Contract: Here Comes the Groom (Notice Board in Svorlag)
(29) Contract: Missing Son (Notice Board in Rannvaig)
(18) Contract: Muire D'yaeblen (Notice Board near wharf of Kaer Trolde Harbor)
(17) Contract: The Phantom of Eldberg (Notice Board by longhouse in northwest Arinbjorn)
(16) Contract: Strange Beast (Notice Board in Larvik)

No because I don't know that 100%. I don't think you're lying, but I try to avoid giving information I'm not personally sure is true.

Don't contracts only appear in your quest log as you find them / are given them? Without having the achievement how are you sure this is all of them?

Well I won't put a 100% guarantee, but it matches other lists and should be right. I'll guarantee it when I unlock it next week.

You can do all contracts after you've finished the game
(This is the easiest way, as no contract will be even slightly hard for a lvl 30-35)
You DO NOT have to do the Master Armorer one.

I'm playing on Death March so it'll be a while before I'm around to all of these. I wanted to ensure I'm not missing anything I can complete close to my level, as I'm my travels.

Do any quests, or at least those achievement related go away after story progression? Thanks @HappyTheDevil for the heads up regarding contracts, but I am just curious about quests, say, if I wanted to do all of them to "see the whole game".

Well, I completed all the contracts except 1 that i can't turn in as the contract giver is somehow dead. I go where i am suppose to turn in the contract and the guy is lying there on the ground in the middle of town. I thought this was not possible? is it a bug?

Phantom of the Trade Route is the quest. I killed the first 2 small enemies, destroyed the 2 nest then the Royal Wyvern showed up. Since i wasn't strong enough to kill it, i ran and came back once i gained a few level. I killed it and went back to the quest giver who was lying down in front of his house, dead.

Really appreciate any help on this answer.

Woodland Beast is the only contract you have to kill when given an option. I just got the achievement. I let the elves live, let the dlc troll go, didn't kill the succubus, and let live anything else I could. Please update the guide with this information.

I can confirm that I earnt this achievement without killing all contracts; I let the Doppler and Succubus live.

I also completed the optional[?] griffin contract from the Master Amourers quest, not sure if this affected the achievement unfortunately.

In addition to what OMG Lumi listed above, I went with Harald's plan and appeased the Leshen in "In The Heart of the Woods" (and so failed to get the achievement for killing it) so you don't need to kill it to complete the contract either.

I counted 26 "completed contracts" and no achievement for me.. I didn't kill the woodland beast either. Is it 100% that there is only 26 you need to complete and is it confirmed you have to do the optional griffin contract from master armorers side quest?
Thanks guys

The missing brother quest I found, passed by it due to level requirement and then it shows I failed it having never attempted it. Maybe I'll try it again on another play through otherwise like lots of games and achievements its an "oh well, gltiched again..."

The Creature from the Oxenfurt Forest Contract appears to be glitched for me. I went to negotiate the reward first, then waited the many hours required to be high enough level to stand a chance at the monster battle. My quest marker is still pointing to the contractor and he refuses to say anything important. It's my last non-DLC contract too, so I'm a little peeved to say the least.

I did NOT kill the elves in Woodland Beast = no achievement. So those effing elves are the key and sure enough since that is one of the earliest contracts you can get I hadn't read the guide at that point.

I didnt get the achievement after doing everything so I loaded a previous save and did the last 5 contracts - still nothing. So I got upset at spending 150 hours in the game and having a glitched achievement and turned off my xbox. After a while I got back on and started reloading my saves to see if I can redo the last contract and it popped when I loaded an autosave from when the contract was already completed. So, yeah... try that!

Just a note: Swamp Thing doesn't show up until you have progressed the storyline with Keira (Hunting a Witch questline) because there is an item required for the contract but is only given by Keira.

When I completed the last contract, the Achievement didn't pop. I restarted, still didn't pop.

I intended to reload a checkpoint just before I turned in the last contract. Incidentally, I reloaded a checkpoint right after I turned in the last contract. Shortly after it loaded, it popped.

I never completed the Griffin in the Highlands quest, or even got it for that matter because I never did the master armourer one. Achievement still popped for me, last one I personally had was Phantom of the trade route because it doesn't come from a bounty board.

BE CAREFUL! Contract: The Apiarian Phantom

It is bugged if you have already explored the house that's being built near the halfling mansion. The conversation between Geralt & the halfling goes along the lines of Geralt telling them to stay inside until he returns.

When you open the basement, nothing happens, no cutscene, nothing in the basement and no quest progression. Unable to complete or otherwise.

If you have encountered this and have actually somehow completed it, anyone that is, please let me know as there's a lot of people on the CDPR forums who have the same issue.

This isn't the first time I've been punished in the Witcher 3; "exploring" in an RPG? It's a crime punishable by glitch.

In total, there are 26 witcher contracts to complete for this achievement. There is 1 in White Orchard, 11 in Velen (but one is only accessible when you’re already attempting the side quest “Master Armorers”), 8 in Novigrad, and 6 in Skellige. Take a look at the checklist below for each contract’s name and location.

White Orchard

  • Contract: Devil by the Well

Velen (No Man’s Land)

  • Contract: The Griffin from the Highlands
  • Contract: Jenny O’ the Woods
  • Contract: The Merry Widow
  • Contract: Missing Brother
  • Contract: Mysterious Tracks
  • Contract: The Mystery of the Byways Murders
  • Contract: Patrol Gone Missing
  • Contract: Phantom of the Trade Route
  • Contract: Shrieker
  • Contract: Swamp Thing
  • Contract: Woodland Beast

Novigrad

  • Contract: The Apiarian Phantom
  • Contract: The Creature from the Oxenfurt Forest
  • Contract: Deadly Delights
  • Contract: Doors Slamming Shut
  • Contract: An Elusive Thief
  • Contract: Lord of the Wood
  • Contract: The Oxenfurt Drunk
  • Contract: The White Lady

Skellige

  • Contract: Dragon
  • Contract: Here Comes the Groom
  • Contract: Missing Son
  • Contract: Muire D’yaeblen
  • Contract: The Phantom of Eldberg
  • Contract: Strange Beast

Generally, these witcher contracts involve stumbling upon evidence of a monster’s activity (its lair, prints, or evidence of bloodshed and combat), or by reading the city/village notice boards requesting your help in exchange for some monetary funds. Take note that the monsters you will be hunting down in these contracts are tougher versions of the same enemies you naturally meet during your travels. Despite this difference, they are still susceptible to the same exploits (oils, potions, bombs, and Signs). Make sure you check the suggested level in each contract’s quest menu and consult the Bestiary to ensure you’re built and ready for the fight.

Because these contracts are very involved, you can follow THIS LINK for a briefly detailed guide on all 26 witcher contracts in the game. Once all the contracts have all been completed during your playthrough, this achievement will finally be yours.

I didn’t count the witcher’s orders, I just took tasks from all the boards in the villages. By the way, ATTENTION, there is a trophy for the spirit of the forest, the order is given for the devil, he must be killed. I missed the first time, sent peasants and helped the elder to carry out the ritual, but they didn’t give me the trophy.

The trophy can be obtained without killing the Forest Spirit.

To receive the trophy, completing all sub-items in the task is not necessary; in the order about the missing brother, he destroyed 8 out of 12 clutches; in the order for dangerous entertainment, he missed the point in a conversation with the brothel owner; ultimately, the trophy dropped after completing the last order.

If you were not given a trophy, then most likely you missed this particular order. In Velen, on the lower right side of the map, there is a Nilfgaardian camp. They won’t send you there on missions unless you rush there yourself. This is where the last, 29th order is located. You can also complete a couple of side quests there and play gwent with the merchant. The tasks there are of a low level, about 8-10, so you can immediately go there at the beginning of the game so as not to look for this order later.

In the very first comment it is written that you need to complete the task "tower from nowhere", but this is incorrect. You need to complete the order "sea devils", which is not on this list. The order is taken on Skellige, in the port of Kaer Trolde. Level 18

The succubus in Novigrad can be released rather than killed. Does not affect the trophy.

I completed 28 orders, they didn’t give me the trophy, I started looking at all the exclamation marks on the map, I came across a guy who gave me the order and that’s it. And then they gave me the trophy after 29 orders

I repeat once again, only 29 orders!
27 is taken from the notice board, 1 is given after the additional task “master armorer”, 1 task is taken near the travel point “Benkovoye village”

Be careful with the trophy. For some reason they didn’t give it to me, although the list of successfully completed 28 (not 27, as in the hint) orders

"Tower from Nowhere" is an additional quest, not a witcher's order

It is not necessary to fulfill all the conditions of the order for the trophy.

I have more of a question than a hint. Completed 28 orders. Didn't kill the succubus and the doppler. Burned 8/12 eggs of the head eye. I didn’t kill the katakana who hunts drunkards the first time, I finished him off in his fishing hut. Didn't approach the altar in the quest "Spirit of the Forest". What did I do wrong because they didn’t give me the trophy?

You may not complete all the tasks, for example, you didn’t destroy all the eggs or you didn’t talk to the owner of the brothel. Plus, I didn’t complete the task Tower from nowhere. it was on my list of minor ones

The trophy did not drop until I completed the task with the Doppler in Novigrad.

All the witcher's orders were fulfilled and the trophy was not given. I have suspicions that to get the trophy you need to fulfill all the conditions (all the checkboxes must be green). For example, in one task you need to burn 14 monster nests, I burned 4 and continued to complete the quest, as a result the quest was completed, but there was no trophy. I missed another condition in a conversation with the elders in the quest for the goblin, after reading the tips above, I flew to kill him without visiting the elders, as a result of which there was another red cross on the completed quest.

Take all the notice boards and fulfill all the orders that are available. When will you complete your last order? will drop out and there will be no tab for orders in the tasks section.

"Tower from Nowhere" is an additional quest.
I was given an achievement after the 28th order.
One definitely does not apply to orders, its name is written “Hearts of the Forest”, not “Order: Hearts of the Forest” I think that this order is not needed for the achievement.
It turns out that there are 27 orders.
In addition to the list indicated in the first hint, I also completed “Order: The most dangerous criminal Skelege”, located in the village of Firsdal
And yes, the amendment is not “Forest dashing”, but “Forest dashing”

Most orders are activated after visiting public announcements in cities. The exception is the contract to kill the archgriffin, which appears only during the completion of the “master armorer” task (the blacksmith issuing the quest is located near the bloody baron’s castle).

There are a total of 26 witcher orders in the game, as written above, almost all are taken from advertisements, the exceptions are part of the quest “MASTER ARMORMAN” and an order for a royal wyvern, which is taken under an exclamation mark, which also appears only when approached. I was looking for order 26 for a very long time. Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwfan6ql2rE

There are 27 monster contracts in the game, not 26.

The quest “The Most Dangerous Criminal on Skellige” is not needed for the achievement! This is a task from the add-on. In patch 1.08 it was buggy and many people quit completing the achievement conditions because of it.

The order for the royal wyvern is buggy, if you have already done everything for its appearance, kill it immediately, many people come there too early, cannot kill it, and when they return, it gets stuck in the rock.

For me, it’s even sadder, the quest is a giver, it’s bugged (he’s lying on the ground, his leg is stuck in a bucket, he can’t get up, I don’t know how it happened), so I can’t talk to him to pass the quest...
