How to unlock the Moo-rderer achievement in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Definitive Guide

To get this achievement you have to download the Hearts of Stone DLC first. There is an excellent spot for this achievement. It is located a little south of Yantra in Velen & Novigrad. You can see it on my screenshot. There will be like 8 or more cows on the grass and they will spawn again after you meditate.

Early in the DLC you're asked to investigate a murder by one of "The Wild Ones"... having taken care of that you have to report what has happened, if you ride in a straight line to the quest marker there is a field with more than a dozen (didn't stop to count) so no meditation needed.

Worked like a treat! I don't know if the amount that spawn at once is random, but I had to meditate three times to get enough cows!

Strange, killed more than enough but it doesn't pop for me..

EDIT: It didn't pop during game play but it did showed up one day later...

For anyone having trouble opening this, try to kill the cows with your crossbow. I killed more than 20 using Igni sign, but no achievement. As soon as i killed 20 cows with the crossbow, achievement unlocked clap

Strange. I am 100% certain that I unlocked this achievement using igni only. Maybe they somehow changed it after the release of the latest dlc? Thank you for your updates, I will update the solution and check it myself as soon as I can.

Wierd. Killed about 50+ cows with weapons and magic. Popped as soon as I killed one with a crossbow.

Couldn't get it to pop using Igni, switched to steel sword, immediately popped on the 20th killed that way. Just fyi to anyone else wondering

I've cleared and reset everything so many times but i can't get this to pop for the life of me, i must have wiped out the cow population in novigrad by now lol

Cows murdered though Igni do not count towards this achievement. You need to use either your sword or crossbow. I am unsure about bombs but would suggest you simply stick to your basic melee and ranged attacks to be sure!

This initially glitched for me. I had killed 20 + cows in this field with my sword. No achievement. I then killed about 20 (not sure on exact numbers, may have been fewer) with my crossbow. No achievement.

I followed a comment on another achievement telling me to clear my persistent storage (under Disc in settings). I did this and a power cycle on my Xbox before restarting the game.

I went back to Yantra and headshotted one cow with my crossbow. The achievement then popped!

Thought I should type it out in case it helps someone :)

There is an excellent spot for this achievement. It is located south of Garin Estate at Martin Fueille’s Farmstead in Velen. Look East of Novigrad (Oxenfurt Gate for a little more precision). There will be around 8+ cows on the grass and you can make them respawn by meditating. Nice place to farm raw meat and milk, too. Here is a video to help:

EDIT: A1an006 in the comments mentioned that:
it only seems to work with swords or crossbow. I tried it first with Igni, but it didn't work. Tried again with swords and the achievement popped.

This can also be done just NE of the Cockatrice inn signpost (B&W DLC)

The best place to get this is in "Martin Feuille's Farmstead" located north of Novigrad. During the day, there will be over 10 cows in her field that you can slaughter. Once you have killed them all, meditate, and then they will all respawn back for you to slaughter again.

This evil task can be accomplished at anytime during your playthrough in Novigrad. Start by heading to Martin Feuille’s Farmsteadin in the Grassy Knolls of Novigrad. From there, head out slightly northeast and you should pass a grange with numerous cows roaming about. There are exactly 16 beautiful, precious cows here that you can kill with ease. 

After you’ve killed all the cows, go ahead and meditate for 3-4 hours. When you regain control Geralt, all of the cows will have respawned, ready to taste your steel for another time. Slaughter the squadron of cows again and after your 20th moo-der, the achievement will finally unlock.

In Velen, under the village of Yantra, there is a small meadow on which five or six cows graze steadily. You slaughter the herd, meditate for an hour, then slaughter again. Repeat until victory. NOTE: Information is current as of the release of the Hearts of Stone add-on. Until this moment, the trophy will not fall. Picture for clarity:

On the Skellige Islands (An Skellige, approximately the middle of the island) there is a village called Blandare and there are as many as 8 cows in a pen.
