How to unlock the Dendrologist achievement in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Definitive Guide
So you can save, buy the Potion, get the Achievement and load again - and if you need to reskill you know where to buy it later.
There is an herbalist hut Northeast of Oxenfurt. If you ask the herbalist about master formulae he will give you a name "Gremist"
A quest will appear "Practicum in advanced alchemy" level 24
on Skellige isles. The quest is way east of Kaer Trolde a place called Gendyneith, you can buy maps from a couple of vendors if you don't feel like searching. Apologize for my lack of posting a map.
Gremist will give you 3 fetch quests to become his student.
After you finish the quest and become his student the shop will open. Some people report a bug on this but just fast travel out the area to Velen or Novigrad and come back his shop will be open. He sells a ton of enhanced and superior bombs/potions and 5 potion of clearance.
See the video below.
Easiest way to do this is to manually save your game and do the following:
1. Buy a "Potion of clearance" (1000 crowns) to reset your stats.
2. Spend one point in every talent under the general tree.
3. After you got your trophy just load your last save for a free trophy.
You will need to obtain all the skills in one tree. You do NOT need to upgrade each skill to max for this, just each skill needs at least one point in it. There are a total of four different trees: Combat (20 skills), Signs (20 skills), Alchemy (20 skills), and General (15 skills).
Of course the easiest way to go about obtaining this is when you reach Novigrad, there is a merchant that sells Potion of Clearance that will reset your skill points for 1,000G. He is located next to the barber by the St. Gregory's Bridge fast travel point. Save before you buy it and then purchase the potion, reset your skills, invest them all in the General tree to get the trophy and then reload your save.
You can abuse Places of Power for up to 25 bonus ability points in the base game (30 if you include Toussaint from BaW). Just using the guide for Power Overwhelming will net you 5 bonus ability points early.
I definitely recommend either waiting until your build is complete and you don't need more ability points, or just savescumming back to before you spent your points. Either way, once you've collected enough ability points, dump it into the General tree to complete the achievement.
Like most RPGS, leveling up will grant Geralt skill points (1 skill point per level). You will also gain additional skill points for each of the Places of Power in the game. All in all, there are a total of four unique skill trees: Combat (20 skills), Signs (20 skills), Alchemy (20 skills), and General (10 skills). The Combat tree deals with Geralt’s sword and crossbow attacks as well as his overall defense in combat. Similarly, the Signs tree revolves around enhancing the intensity and effects of Geralt’s five Signs. Lastly, the Alchemy tree works in the way of increasing the toxicity of potions and bombs while the General tree increases a variety of different skills unrelated to the previous trees.
It’s worth noting that some skills in each tree have up to five tiers. For the purposes of this achievement however, you will only need to grab the first tier of a skill. One of the easiest ways to snag this achievement is to wait until you're Level 10+ and then buy a Potion of Clearance from the Merchant in Novigrad closest to the St. Gregory's Bridge fast travel point. Once you have the potion, create a manual save and drink the potion; it will reset all your skill points. Now invest 10 points in the General tree and the achievement will be yours. Make sure to reload your previous save if you desire in order to continue on with your playthrough!
