How to unlock the Dressed to Kill achievement in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Definitive Guide
These element bonuses can only be obtained with the Grandmaster variants of each School - Feline, Griffin, Manticore, Ursine, and Wolf. On top of this, you must be a Level 40 in order to equip Grandmaster gear.
In order to craft this gear, you must visit the Grandmaster Smith in Beauclair. His shop, Lazare Lafargue’s Workshop, can be found in the southern district of the city, just south of The Gran Palace fast travel signpost, and slightly north of the Metinna Gate fast travel signpost. He is the only smith in the game who can craft Grandmaster equipment.
Take a look below for each School's lesser and greater bonuses, and once you equip a full Grandmaster set, this achievement will unlock.
Feline Set
- Three: Strong Attacks increase Fast Attacks for 5 seconds by 10% for each piece of the set.
- Six: Rear attacks deal 50% more damage, and also stun opponents at the cost of 1 Adrenaline Point(s).
Griffin Set
- Three: After using Stamina to cast a Sign in its standard mode, the next Sign cast within 3 seconds will be cast in Standard mode without using Stamina
- Six: The size of Yrden traps is increased by 40%. While you are within a Yrden trap, Stamina regeneration is increase by 5/s and Sign Intensity by 100%, and damage is reduced by 20%.
Manticore Set
- Three: Critical hit chance and critical hit damage also apply to bombs.
- Six: The maximum number of charges for each alchemy item is increased by 1.
Ursine Set
- Three: When a Quen shield shatters, there is a chance a new one will be cast at no Stamina cost. The bonus increased by 5% for each piece of the set.
- Six: Damage dealt by Abilities involving the Quen Sign is increased by 200%.
Wolven Set
- Three: Up to three different oils can be applied to a sword at a time.
- Six: Bombs are thrown without any delay.
Once all six pieces to one Grandmaster Witcher gear set are equipped, the achievement will unlock.
In the event that you require the funds necessary to craft at least one of these Grandmaster sets, you can farm enemy bandits in any of the hansa bases of Toussaint. To do this, you'll want to kill everyone minus the hansa leader, loot their weapons, leave the region, then return. All of the enemies will have respawned and you can continue killing them to farm their weapons, which sell for 250-300 coin when sold to the Grandmaster Smith.
Once you have the Manticore school gear found in its associated treasure hunt quest given by Lafargue in Beauclair, (his shop is northwest of the Metinna Gate travel post), return to Lafargue and craft the Manticore steel sword, silver sword, armor, gauntlets, trousers, and boots. Put all six on and the achievement will unlock.
If you're like me you're initially thinking, "but you can't craft the grandmaster set without the master set, and you can't craft the master set without the superior set! I never spent countless hours tracking down all those crafting diagrams and keeping my armor sets updated! Woe is me, this trophy is lost to me!" I thought I was screwed.
Loophole: the core game has the Cat set and the Griffin set, etc., but Blood and Wine introduces the MANTICORE GEAR SET. There is no previous set for Manticore, and the set doesn't say "grandmaster," but it comes with a bonus for equipping all 6 pieces, the key to this trophy! So, I assume you've already met Lafargue in Beauclair, learned of all the lost witchers, gone on the scavenger hunts for the gear sets, and gotten the Turned Every Stone trophy, now get Lafargue to craft the Manticore set and *pop* goes the trophy!
You can obtain the quest locations of all five sets of armor from the grandmaster smith in Beauclair. The easiest way to find his shop is to head north from the fast travel signpost of the Metinna Gate. You can also receive a quest notice that will mark his location from a notice board.
This achievement requires you to find all six diagrams for at least one set of armor: Feline, Griffin, Ursine, Wolf, or Manticore, and then fully upgrade that set. For everything but Manticore, it means you'll have to already have acquired all of the lower level diagrams for one of the other sets in the main game and built the armor up to master quality.
Manticore has the advantage of only having the six diagrams in this DLC and you can go straight from nothing to full in a single construction (note: the Manticore armor and weapons are not actually listed as "Grandmaster" quality in the descriptions or names, but they are considered such by the game and can be used for the achievement). I also thought the components needed to construct the Manticore were easier to obtain/cheaper to buy than those necessary to upgrade the master quality items from the other sets to grandmaster quality, so this makes the Manticore set both easier and cheaper to build to get the achievement.
However, in terms of finding the diagrams, the Manticore set requires the most travel: 4 different locations zig-zaging across the map. The Feline are spread among three different spots. The Ursine and Griffin are both in two different locations; the second Griffin location is one of the Hansen ("Super-bandit") lairs that are more work to clear out. The Wolf are all at a single location, so require less travel and effort than any of the other sets to collect.
After collecting one of the set schematics for one of the five schools, go back to Lafargue. This will complete the quest "Master Master Master Master!". Whichever set you brought him, have him craft the entire set and then equip it. You need to equip all 6 pieces for it to work. Like the other sets before it, you will need the previous set in order to make the upgraded version.
New to Blood and Wine is the mechanic of "Witcher Gear Elements." These bonuses are passive buffs obtained in one of two ways. To gain a lesser bonus element, you must equip at least three pieces of a single Witcher gear set. However, if all six pieces of one gear set are equipped, you will receive a second, more powerful bonus element.
These element bonuses can only be obtained with the Grandmaster variants of each School - Feline, Griffin, Manticore, Ursine, and Wolf. On top of this, you must be a Level 40 in order to equip Grandmaster gear, and remember, only the Grandmaster Smith in Beauclair can craft this gear.
Take a look below for each School's lesser and greater bonuses. Once you equip a full Grandmaster set, this achievement will unlock.

- a lot of dimerite and orichalcum can be found while searching for grandmaster drawings of schools, during the quest with Moro (we look in the caves);
- we get green gold from jewelry from the house of Borsodi or from those found in caves;
- we get crowns by selling ordinary swords, fortunately the opponents are in toussaint, each belt can easily be sold for 200-250 crowns
It’s easier to buy other cheap elements than to run all over the map
