How to unlock the I Have a Gwent Problem achievement in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Definitive Guide

In total, there are 43 Gwent cards in the brand new Skellige deck. Like the base game, Gwent cards can be won by defeating Merchants, Traders, and Innkeepers in a match of Gwent throughout the duchy of Toussaint.

NOTE: None of the Gwent cards are missable.

The very first opportunity you'll have to grab a Skellige card is during the quest entitled “The Beast of Toussaint.” After a lengthy cutscene inside the Cockatrice Inn, take a few minutes to play Gwent against the Innkeeper.

After winning his randomly generated card, it will trigger a quest entitled "Gwent: Never Fear, Skellige's Here." This quest will help you track 18 more cards because it places persistent objective markers over every possible Merchant/Innkeeper you can win a card from across Toussaint.

In addition to this, the quest’s secondary objective will bring you to Beauclair, leading you to Count Monnier, the creator of the Skellige faction deck. Speak with him about his Gwent Tournament and refuse his offer to enter the tourney for now. He will hand over a base Skellige deck with 24 cards (23 standard cards and 1 Leader). You can return to him at anytime in order to enter his tourney, though take note only Skellige decks are allowed so it’s best to hold off on entering until your deck is near complete.

I can't talk to the Merchants at Beauclair Ports at all. It says that they are Merchants, but I can't access their dialouge. Anyone else have this problem?

Are any cards missable like in the main game? (Having to be done in the middle of a quest/certain choices?)

Ok I had the same problem as others, and with other achievements. Save before you get the last card and also make sure you have visited the tournament guy and got the free cards from him. If the achievement didn't pop when you get the finial card reload the save and do it again, it should pop. It did for me. Had the same issue with the witcher diagrams today and resolved it in the same way. Relaod and pick up the last one again.

Bit late maybe for others who don;t have saves to go back on cry

For some reason no achievements are popping for me in this game anymore. Within an hour I should have gotten this one, Turn Every stone for the Grandmaster diagrams and unite the warring Vineyards. Did all properly, none popped. I just stopped playing for now because I just feel like I am wasting me time now.

I made a save before the last person I had to play. After reloading and replaying her three times and waiting about 12 hours, it finally popped.

I got this achievement. I didnt have a save closer, just one at the beginning of B&W, so I did all the quest again, first the 19/19 players and then the basic deck, and the achievement pop out.

Had the same problems. Had a Savegame where i got all the single cards and just had to go collect the core deck. Reloaded 3 times. Never popped. Went back one more Save to 18/19, went to get the deck and then played the last game. Popped first time. So in short: Don't get the core deck last. At leasts for me that worked.

From what I remember, Groggs, you cannot, no. You need to go to all the specific locations marked on the map and play the NPC there.

Mine is also bugged, I got them all and collected the base deck first. So on my new game + I shall try collecting cards first and then collect the base deck. I reloaded the save 4 times, but no luck... :(

I had the usual issue with this achievement. I had to reset the Xbox cache before it popped but popped as soon as I finished my last game after reloading my save. Seems like at least 50% of the achievements in this game have this issue.

I followed this guide somewhat, I collected the 19 cards then spoke to the guy who gives the base deck and the achievement popped. I didn't have to take part in the tournament. I am on New Game+ but I never did any of this stuff in my previous playthrough.

You should add that the cards aren't missable to the top of your solution. I imagine most people just want to know that so they can play the dlc without worrying. Your solution is great but add that and it will be even greater! You know you want to...

Thanks for the info!

I finished all the main quests in B&W before collecting Skellige cards, but now I got a problem with this achievement. I played against a few traders or innkeeps and won some cards, and when I won the Beauclair tournament, the quest "Never Fear, Skellige's Here" led me back to the Cockatrice Inn. But I can't find the innkeep (yes I've beaten him in the first few minutes of this DLC) which is indicated as a yellow dot on the map. And my quest status is "25/19" but not finished. And the Cockatrice Innkeep is the only yellow dot on the map so I don't know where to find the others to play. Anybody know what happened??

Worth noting, if you're like me and didn't do any Gwent then you'll probably struggle somewhat. So I started a new game and followed PolityAgent's Card Collector guide for the base game, which had me at level 16 with all base Gwent cards.

Now obviously level 16 is underlevelled for this DLC, but it's not an issue. If you save after picking up the contract but before the next objective you can skip a fight with some NPCs in Velen by picking certain dialogue options, and once in Toussaint you only have to deal with Golyat, which if you're familiar with this DLC can be killed in a single shot to the eye regardless of your level, which will net you another achievement of you've not already got it.

No more combat is required to get this achievement, all of the players are in towns so your only danger is on the road which isn't really an issue. Obviously once you have it you'll probably want to load a different save for the other DLC achievements.

You get the Quest Gwent: Never Fear, Skellige's Hear from the Notice Board at the Cockatrice Inn or by visiting Count Monnier in the Pheasantry. After that you get a few new Skellige Cards and need to collect the missing 19 Cards. But not like in the Maingame, Questmakers mark every Gwent Player so its easy to find them all.

Win vs the following players to complete the Skellige Gwent set and unlock the Achievement

This is reasonably easy. For this achievement you need to collect a full set of Gwent cards for the new Skellige deck. There are a couple of ways you can unlock the quest associated with this, but the easiest is to beat the innkeeper at the Cockatrice Inn after you question them about the murder early in the DLC.

There are two parts to getting a full deck, thus completing the quest and the DLC. The first is to win 19 cards from Gwent games against 19 different people in the region. Unlike in the main game, all 19 locations are marked on the map when the quest is active, so it's a simple matter to go from place to place and collect them (most of them are also clustered in or close to Beauclair, which eases things as well).

The second part is to get a "starter" set of cards. You can do this by going to the guy running the Gwent tournament and talking to him. Refuse to enter the tournament (at that time) and he'll give you the starter set.

In total, there are 43 Gwent cards in the brand new Skellige deck (2 Leaders, 3 Heroes, 32 Units, and 6 Neutrals). Like the base game, Gwent cards can be won by defeating Toussaint Merchants, Traders, and Innkeepers in a match of Gwent. The very first opportunity you'll have to grab a Skellige card is during the quest entitled “The Beast of Toussaint.” After a lengthy cutscene inside the Cockatrice Inn, take a few minutes to play Gwent against the Innkeeper.

You can return to him at anytime in order to enter his tourney, though take note only Skellige decks are allowed so it’s best to hold off on entering until your deck is complete.

All in all, once the entire “Gwent: Never Fear, Skellige's Here” quest has been completed, this achievement will unlock.

The quest for this is "Never Fear, Skellige's Here". The first opportunity you will have at this, is when you're at the Cockatrice Inn. Play against the Innkeep and win, then you will get a card and the quest. There is a total of 19 cards you will need to collect and also the basic Skellige deck. Luckily for you this time, each one is marked on the map for who you to find and beat. Once you have obtained all 19 cards and the basic deck, the trophy will pop.

There is no need to mark or remember anything. Even after completing the quest for the tournament, set the task of collecting cards to active and all unwon cards appear on the map.

Watch the video from the first tip. The game with the innkeeper in the first inn, which we find ourselves in according to the plot, activates a new quest to collect a skelege deck and all places with players are marked on the map. I took a screenshot during a tournament quest and missed one place, and after activating this quest, the missed place became marked on the map.

Version 1.31, markers do not disappear from the map. First I collected all the cards from the Gwent players, then I received the rest of the deck from the hands of the tournament organizer.

During the Gwent quest: The Great Tournament in Beauclair, before the start of the tournament, the organizer will ask you to collect a strong enough deck of Skellige cards, and then all the NPCs from whom you can win a card from this deck will be highlighted on the map. But the quest will go further after defeating the first few, so I recommend marking the places with gwent players on the map so as not to lose, and when the quest suggests going to the tournament, just continue running according to your marks on the map.

After receiving the quest for the big tournament in Beauclair, you will already be given part of the deck. The remaining cards will have to be obtained by defeating other players, whose locations will be marked on the map. But in order to participate in the tournament, it is not necessary to collect the entire deck, and after receiving several deck cards from other players, the locations of the remaining players (with whom you must play to collect the ENTIRE deck and receive the achievement) will simply disappear from the map. Here are the locations of all players:

1. Tavern "Kurolisk", tavern.
2. Winery "Castel Ravello", herbalist.

3. Tournament fields, gunsmith.
4. Tournament fields, blacksmith.
5. Tournament fields, barber.
6. Tournament fields, innkeeper.

7. House of pleasures "The Bells of Beauclair", brothel-maman.
8. Butcher's shop, butcher.
9. Tailor's workshop (in which case, follow the sign, because there may not be a merchant icon on the mini-map), tailor Pierre.
10. Princely Camerleño.
11. Shop "Perfumery", perfumer.
12. Tavern "Pheasaneria", innkeeper.
13. Snake and Ruby Winery, sommelier.
14. Gunsmith's shop, gunsmith.
15. Herbalist’s shop, herbalist.
16. DuPont and Sons store, sponsoring merchant.

17. Village of Francolar, gunsmith.
18. Village of Francolar, tavern "Scarlet Cardinal", innkeeper.

19. Village of Floviv, tavern "Under the barrel and tongue", innkeeper.

targets will NOT disappear from markers! If you do NOT take the basic deck first, but immediately go to play with the main cards. we win everyone, and only then go for the base deck. It’s much easier this way and you won’t need the map from the tip above =)
