How to unlock the Grand Master Librarian achievement in The Wolf Among Us - Definitive Guide

There is one missable fable entry in this episode.

In chapter 3 you will be in Sheppard Metalworks. You will hear bloody mary talking. Keep following the path till you reach a small room that has a workbench. Select it with cn_Y. This will make Bloody Mary show up. Once crooked man appears, there will be some options to choose. The options will be, "Cut the shit", "I'm talking to you", [Hit her], and ...(silence). Choose "Cut the shit." According to the 360 version "I'm talking to you!" and silence seems to work also, but I chose "Cut the shit", so that's your safest choice.

Don't choose to [hit her] or you won't get the fable entry.

This achievement unlocks when talking to toad in chapter 5.

I had to go back to get this one and it unlocked right away. I didn't have to talk to toad at all.

I'm just happy that none of the missables is tied to accepting or refusing TJ's request at the end, as I would never have been able to complete this.

There isn't Toad in chapter 5, it's in chapter 6.

I think the author means that if you get this in Chapter 3 on your first playthrough, you'll still need some unmissables from later in the episode, and the last of these will be given to you when speaking to Toad, granting the achievement at that point.

Obviously, if you missed this first time, you'll have all the others so the achievement will pop as soon as you get this one.

The only miss-able fable on the episode is when you meet Mary in the wood mill, as long as you don’t choose the option to hit her the miss able fable unlocks *note after the first option to hit her passes you can then fight back when she goes for you*. All of the other fables in this chapter are story related and can’t be missed so once you complete the 6th chapter the achievement will pop.

As with the other trophies where you have to unlock all the fables, there are missable ones that you will need to rewind the chapter in order to obtain.

Here are the locations but I think only #3 is missable.

Location #1: During the car chase scene, go after and jump on Vivian (AKA The Girl with the Ribbon) & Georgie’s car. Afterwards, follow them inside (listen) and confront them, the first Book of Fable entry should automatically unlock.
But these dialog choices will definitely lead you to a Book of Fable entry:
– Ask Georgie “What do you mean?”, and then ask Vivian “How could you?”, and say “We’ll find another way.”, “Of course you do.”, and “Jesus”.

Location #2:
at the Pudding & Pie club and Georgie is sitting next to her bleeding out, after you leave the scene and are about to walk out of the club the second Book of Fable entry should automatically unlock.
But these dialog choices will definitely lead you to a Book of Fable entry:
– “…”, “[Leave Him To Die]”, and “…”.

Location #3: After entering the Sheppard Metalworks and examining the work bench, you’ll be able to talk to Bloody Mary / The Crooked Man. You will need to choose from the following dialog options: “I’m talking to you!” or “Cut the shit.” or “…” and then Mary will give you a a crude ‘your mom’ joke, after which the — otherwise missable — third Book of Fable entry ‘Winter Wolf’ will unlock.

Location #4: After winning the Bloody Mary boss fight, the fourth Book of Fable entry will automatically unlock.

*MISSABLE*

Book of Fables entries can be unlocked via natural story progression while at other times, though not all too frequently, for making specific decisions during a crucial moment in an Episode’s Chapter. In Episode 5, there are a total of 7 entries to be collected.

All but one of these entries can be obtained through story progression, so go ahead and check out the list below for the one that is considered “missable.”

Winter Wolf

  • Unlocked during Chapter 2 at Sheppard Metalworks if you tell Bloody Mary to “Cut the shit!” instead of punching her. After telling her off, she will insult Bigby’s mother and this entry will then unlock.

Once all 7 Book of Fable entries in Episode 5 have been collected, this achievement will unlock.
