How to unlock the Ghost achievement in theHunter: Call of the Wild - Definitive Guide

So after what felt like an eternity (probably closer to 30 hours) and some 500 dead wolves later, I've come to understand and theorize on some things that could speed things up for you. I've added a revision upon doing more research which should polish this solution and make it more effective.

UPDATE: Here is a revised map that shows my tent placements, the lakes where wolves spawn, and the locations where I mostly found them (painted in red around the lakes)

Here is a link to a map.

It has come to my attention that once spawned, animals will always return to the same zones over and over. It's also my theory that one albino may be spawned at a time, so if you look at the same lakes over and over and leave one out, you risk missing the albino and killing wolves forever (which I believe happened to me). So make sure to look around ALL the lakes if you feel you've been unable to find an albino.

Another thing about spawns. You'll have to kill every wolf you find, as killing one spawns another at a random location with a random chance of being the albino.

Wolves drink from 23:00 to 03:00.

Ignore rest and feed zones.

So first of all I recommend using the quad during the day and set as many tents as you can possibly buy around the lakes marked on the map. You can use my tent setup which I've personally found effective, but you'll want to cover as many lakes as possible, and as much of their shores as possible.

As for equipment, I recommend the 300 with polymer and the argus or hyperion scopes. 300 drops em fast and reliably with lung shots.
.303 is great if you want to get high ratings, but it's not needed.

Heavily recommend maxing the Track Investigation perk, which allows you to see the tracked animal's fur type (examine a track, then pause and look on the right for the animal information). I liked to examine every track after having murdered a pack, to make sure an albino wasn't amongst them and may have run off.

Simply fast travel from tent to tent, scanning the shore lines of every lake marked on the map above.

If you end up not finding any more, or it's passed 03:00, I recommend resting to 23:00, and then closing the game and reopening it. In my experience, it resets spawns.

Good luck and good hunting. Trust me, it's somewhere out there. I nearly had a panic attack when I saw it and it ran off. Patience will reward you.

Thanks!
I'm myself still hunting daily for albinos to let people get their achievement! I've found 3 so far, and I'll look at the areas you've added to see if I can find some there, too, thanks!

If you've killed 700, it may mean the albino is already spawned, look for lakes you've never visited before!! Good luck ;)

I can confirm what you said - Found several wolves on the eastern lake! I'll update the map later

About 200 in and nothing yet. Are you guys just wiping the packs out completely when you find them? I go through stages of finding a pack at near every lake and then nothing for ages

yes sir, I kill every single wolf I see, I have stands next to every tent to limit hunting pressure so more packs can spawn and stay there.

I've been playing other games lately, but I still occasionally murder wolves in the hopes of finding an albino and set up a session to let someone hunt it! Sadly I haven't been lucky for a whole week, either :(

I might need to start using a hunting tripod to see if that helps. I go through phases of no pack spawning for a while and it becomes so very dull.

Yes I recently noticed that's because of hunting pressure. They Do spawn there, but if there's too much pressure, they run away from the spawn

I started out at killing no more 3 males per pack. But many kills later I am finding my rage uncontrollable, and now I just go total Rambo on anything that moves. Countless innocent fox have been caught in the crossfire.

I started the Window 10 version of the game, and the spawns are totally broken. No fur variants other then grey spawn. I just finished Parque Fernando's Trophy Collection on W10 and no button prompt appears when mounting the Diamond Puma. This game hates me lol cry laugh

I think its better to kill as many as you can because the ones you don't kill won't despawn, they'll simply go somewhere where there's no pressure =/

How do you know how much wolfs you killed? On Xbox.

@Tonyca, I'm not sure if you can, but I do know roughly how many I killed because I was sending a picture of every single wolf I killed to a group chat with friends on facebook... By the end they were quite irritated LOL

Great guide bought so many tents and put them around this lakes I wasn’t allowed anymore. Hasn’t killed a single one that wasn’t grey, used the callers to lure them in and get aggressive and I seen a whitish grey one. I immediately shit it twice before I was overwhelmed but luckily the body wasn’t too far after respawning. Albino, very happy. Patience is key with this one.

I just got this. I must be the luckiest hunter around. I wasn't actually looking for one, spooked him while sneaking up on a moose. He didn't run to far and went aggressive. Scope off and gunned him down, trophy score was out the window cause i emptied the zarza .308 magazine into himtoast

Apparently spawn rates for Albino are around 0.047% for Albino and Melanistic. RIP

@ FFX Brotherhood. Yeah I thought my game was broken as I was getting nothing but Grey fur. After doing some digging, I have found they have reduced the chance of rare fur spawns with last update.

Egg White: (Was) 0.98% to (New) 0.07%
Melanistic: (Was) 0.49% to (New) 0.04%
Albino: (Was) 0.12% to (New) 0.04%

I have found several egg white, melanistic, but albinos there is no way. I don't know how many wolves I'll have hunted but maybe 500? Can it be consulted?

@Tonyca Negative, I used to keep the numbers myself, but it's kinda pointless to keep track of unless it's for your own fun haha.

Since I started playing I must be near 5000 or 6000 wolves down

Good guide, and deserved thumbs up. Tents are almost in the same places I have been farming. I think I am close to 700 kills now and no luck yet. Got to hate the random gods. I might add to your map, that in my game I have never found any wolves on furthest northern big lake. However, at the two lakes north east of there, the western lake of the two I regularly find two to three wolf packs totalling around 20 to 30 wolfs. They are usually on the south western and long western bank.
