How to unlock the Wildlife Paparazzi achievement in theHunter: Call of the Wild - Definitive Guide

Make sure you have your Camera in your inventory and let's get started. Make sure you zoom in when taking the picture. Make sure that the target is completely visible and you have a good picture as I am unsure of any way to see which animals you have taken a picture of. Just go down this list and make sure you take a picture of each animal listed.

Hirschfelden

Roe Deer
Fallow Deer
Red Deer
Red Fox
Wild Boar
European Bison

Layton Lake

Coyote
Whitetail Deer
Blacktail Deer
Moose
Black Bear
Roosefelt Elk

Below is a link to a map you can use to find the location of the animals. Note, they are mostly just random but if a map helps, then by all means use it.

Also, to switch between areas, go to your map and press X.

Just to note: They have to be alive.
Mallard duck and Rabbit on Layton Lakes are included

Can you take the picture after they're dead?

I'm not too sure as I got it taking the picture of them when they were alive. Make sure to spam the pictures too as the camera really sucks in that game and has a hard time registering animals in the picture.

Please note that the kill needs to have a trophy score to count.. it seems females do not get trophy scores.

I swear this one is bugged. I've gone through this list 3 times now. The third time I spammed pictures less than 20m of every species even making sure they all had a trophy rating. Best of luck, it's a frustrating one.

I can confirm you do need to include rabbits, mallard and geese as well. I couldn't get the achievement to unlock and spent a lot of time taking and retaking pictures of the original animals. I had taken some pictures of ducks and rabbits when I saw them but didn't think they counted. Finally got the achievement to unlock when I took pictures of geese landing around me.

I confirm the solution's list is correct; I never took a picture of a rabbit, mallard or goose and the achievement unlocked when i took a pic of a bison.

I think the achievement requirements may be based on your DLC purchases. I am assuming I needed the jackrabbit, mallard and Canadian goose as the goose was the animal I popped the achievement with.

just for anyone trying to keep track - the game will autosave as soon as you take the picture, I used this as confirmation that the pic counted.

Just to clear this up for others, females do count for this. I just popped the achievement after taking a pic of a female blacktail with no trophy score

For other* Took pictures of male and female. All close, like 20 metres or less. Had to do Mallard and Jack Rabbit too (don’t own the Canada goose dlc). Achievement unlocked on the Jack Rabbit.

Does it have to be the males of each species?

Just got this and can confirm you do not have to get uncomfortably close to the animals. On my last pic, I was almost 200 yards from a red fox when I snapped it and it popped. Just use max zoom and make sure the animal is in the center square and it should count from almost any distance.

Also I’m pretty sure on a couple there was some foliage or other things in the way and they still counted so I’m not sure that even matters. As long as you have a clear enough view that you could spot the animal with binocs it should count.

There seems to be some confusion around what, specifically, you need to get pictures of to meet the requirements for this achievement, so I have noted exactly what I took pictures of. The list is as follows:

HIRSCHFELDEN
Roe Deer - Female
Fallow Deer - Male (story mission)
Red Deer - Male
Red Fox - Male
Wild Boar - Female
European Bison - Female
Canada Goose - N/A
European Rabbit - N/A

LAYTON LAKES
Blacktail Deer - Male
Whitetail Deer - Female
Coyote - Female
Black Bear - Male (story mission)
Moose - Male
Roosevelt Elk - Female
Mallard - Male
Jackrabbit - Male

Mission photos count as I did not take photos of either the Fallow Deer or black bear outside of these missions, and it does not seem to matter whether the animal in the photo is male or female in any case.

The game should, indeed, display the autosave icon at the bottom of the screen once you have successfully captured a photo of an animal for the first time. As stated above, the achievement popped for me immediately after taking a photo of a male jackrabbit.

In my experience, you typically need to be within about 50 meters of an animal for a photo of them to count (again, this was approximated based on the appearance of the autosave icon.) It can be tricky to get close enough to some animals without scaring them so, if you feel so inclined, you can use the following glitch to decrease your visibility until logging out of the game. It is certainly useful for some of the more elusive species like red fox and coyote.

It should be noted that I was not the one to discover this method and all credit should go to the individual that made the video.

Not only does the glitch still work on xbox as of 11/23/2021 it also gives all the bonuses of being in a tree stand. This includes reduced hunting pressure. You can bow hunt as with ease and never worry about the pressure anymore.

So, ducks and geese were added to the game with the help of a patch; they are not needed for other trophies (sort of). Also, the trophy was periodically broken by patches, I was able to get it on version 1.29. The gender of the animal is not important (sort of). In general, it is better to photograph first, then shoot. Try to ensure that the animal occupies the entire central field as close as possible and there are no branches or tall grass.

Hirschfelden:
Fox
Roe
Doe
Boar
Noble deer
European bison
Canada goose

Leyton region:
White-tailed hare
Coyote
White-tailed deer
Colombian deer
Black bear
Roosevelt's Reindeer
Elk
Mallard

Unfortunately, the game itself does not save any photos. Therefore, you will have to rely only on your memory of which animals you photographed. A complete list of animals is in the reference information.
