How to unlock the Colony Mayor Level 4 achievement in They Are Billions - Definitive Guide

This achievement is tailor made for the peaceful lowlands map thanks to it's large open spaces and easy access to farmland, attempting it on other maps is a form of sadism imo:

- on this map you will encounter doom villages that provide huge quantities of resources once destroyed to aid your construction efforts
- on this map you will have easy access to furtile land tiles for farming
- on this map you will find the most open space of all the maps, allowing for efficient housing district layouts that maximum the 3 banks and markets that you can place.

On this map, reaching 10'000 is doable in 120 days if you are confident in what you are doing and able to multitask. If you're worried about having a bad spell and having your growth stall while you focus your efforts on map clearing and doom village fighting for example, then you really want to go for a 150 day campaign, there is time to hit 10'000 in 120 days, but you can't afford to pause your economic growth while you deal with the doom villages and clear the infected hordes, which means you either need keep on top of both in parallel when those situations arise, or take the easier path and give yourself another 30 days to play with.

As always, do not start upgrading buildings until you have run out of space to add new, basic tier, buildings (the exception being if you fill up resource storage and have nothing else to use those resources on -- which is usually not the case tbh -- you can always use 1 more farm, or one more mill)

To give you an idea of how big your city needs to be ... 10'000 population = 625 stone houses, this means that you want to hit 2'500 population with tents before you stop expanding your borders, now it's just a case of reinforcing your borders and upgrade the hell out of everything, by the time your 625th house is upgraded to stone you will hit 10'000 population.

To feed this large population, without the use of markets & warehouses you would need ~55 advanced farms in addition to the 800 food that the wonders provides, if you've played the game much you'll realise this is a scary number of farms to place. Even this assumes you managed perfect placement for every farm (which is nigh on impossible). This illustrates how important it will be to utilise markets (20% reduced food requirements for houses) and warehouses (20% increased production). Nearly every farm you place wants to be in the aoe for a warehouse, and you really want to maximise the number of houses you fit into the aoe of your three markets.

In my experience food will be the hardest resource to keep on top of as you grow your colony to 10'000. For this reason I recommend you focus on building an army of Rangers until you are well in control of your economy, with zero food requirement to maintain, this will allow you to put 100% of your produced food into population growth.

Playing on easiest difficulty I had to take up just about the whole map. I earned it by day 112 of 150. Advanced Farms/Fishing cottages along with advanced mills and power plants to get the food/electric side of the equation. Real easy, it's just long.

It’s better to do it on survival on “easy difficulty” for 150 days, so that you have a reserve, maybe. after 8000 citizens the game begins to slow down significantly, and after 9000 my people and troops stopped walking altogether. You can build, the towers are shooting, but no one moves, even the zombies who were not in the waves stopped (they ran in place).
So it’s better to do this with minimal waves. Still, on easy difficulty you need protium once for the trophy. You can also build 6 wonders at once.
