This War of Mine: Final Cut

This is for the Fading Embers episode.

There are four separate endings in Fading Embers which, in one of the few negative things I've found about this game, are all practically the same. You need to complete all four.

This can be a grind. On PC, I'm sure someone out there has found the exact files to copy so that you can create a save point that actually remembers that you've done the other 3 endings, but I didn't find it before doing all 4 using the save point method mentioned here: Tip: Making manual saves for alternate ending achievements.

That method did not work for this achievement (again on PC)... which is why I don't have the achievement yet, even having seen all 4 endings. Please be aware of that. If someone posts the way, I would be ecstatic.

Now for those of you not fortunate to have access to a PC that can run this (and, btw, my PC isn't *supposed* to be able to run it, but did fine), the DLC did transfer to the PC, so I'm able to play on both Xbox and PC.

Now for the how-to: this is the guide I used. It's efficient and spot on, and works for both PC and Xbox. I made a mistake by not going back to the orphanage and finding out about the railway station. If the station does not appear, that's probably why. If you miss a step, it may take a few extra days.

And for God's sake, don't forget to get all of the documents from behind the shed in the house at the beginning. You have to get it in the first week, as described in the guide. After that, get ready to replay for the Janitor achievement.

Remember, you only need to eat one cooked meal every 2 days. Hungry is okay, "very hungry" is not.

You need to play through the Story 'Fading Embers' four times to see all the variations of the ending to get this achievement. They can be done in any order, just keep mental track of the ones you did.

-Give the Colonel the painting and HELP the Orphans escape through the railyard.
-Give the Colonel the painting and DON'T help the Orphans escape through the railyard.
-Give Taras the documents and HELP the Orphans escape through the railyard
-Give Taras the documents and DON'T help the Orphans escape through the railyard.

The first time you can give the Colonel the Painting is Night 20, go to the Army Base and walk with the guard to meet with him. The first time you can give Taras his Documents is Night 23, go to the Construction Site and he is just above the entrance.

To Help the Orphans you need to go to the Supermarket and talk to a young boy walking around. He will say he lives in an Orphanage and is being taken care of by a man named Adam. When you go there you need to help dig some rubble to help a boy who is trapped, then Adam will ask for 10 fuel. You can get a free Hatchet at the Gas Station (It spawns in on Day 15, but I noticed it won't spawn in until I visited the Orphanage for the first time to clear the rubble.) There are several wardrobes and tables to smash up and give the fuel to Adam. Return the next day and talk to everyone, one girl will ask for a book DON'T give it to her as it is not necessary and people will be upset if you do.

Go to the Railway Station and walk all the way to the bottom, talk to the guys there and he will ask for a very important religious item to smuggle the Orphans out of the city. Ruben will leave you whenever you help smuggle the Orphans out, so keep that in mind.

It doesn't really matter how much art you save (try your best to at least burn it if your low on fuel), but you will need to fix the truck for all the endings.

From what I can tell there is no way to easily speedrun this, you will most likely be playing up to day 24ish if you help the Orphans, and day 27ish if you do not. You can skip some of the cutscenes by holding down the 'B' button. I do recommend going to the museum as early as you can, as that may push the dates back further. (should be Day 7 if you give Ruben his meds on Day 5 and 6.)
