A child must be in your house and you need to teach them the following things (Pressing 
in the menu where you choose what to make):
Herbal workshop:
I noticed that in my game I did not get the achievement after teaching the child all 6 items (and verified that the teach icon was greyed out). I wound up waiting a day and then had the child make each of the items on their own, after the 5th item, it unlocked.

I got this long before learning all of this - day 5 actually. I wasn't keeping good track of how many times she made things, but this popped shortly after making/doing 5 things in total. Might be all that is to this one

I taught my child how to make a meal, a filter, roll-up cigarettes, fuel, and how to fill up the water collector with the filter. I then made the kid craft/do all 5 actions I taught and it popped.
