For this achievement you need to not kill the foreman let me break it down, In order to do that once you reach the foreman after the cutscene look over to your right side, You will find a gate with a warning sign, Just grab one of the gas barrels and keep throwing it at the gate until it breaks down, After that go into it slightly to the left your going to find a switch, Click it and that will trigger a light towards the door you need to reach, Reach out of the door and finish your way through and this achievement will unlock.

To get the Merciful Achievement you need to let Jeff the Sawmill foreman live by not interacting with the spotlight, break down the fence using the barrel and you switch on another spotlight instead of taking his.
