How to unlock the Gvaern Ichaer achievement in Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales - Definitive Guide
Story related, but can be missed.
You'll fight Gernichora towards the end of the Angren region.
WARNING! Do not skip this battle, otherwise you'll not obtain the trophy. This battle can be a pain and you'll probably have to change up your deck for this fight. Do not kill any of the leeches, just make sure to damage them so they don't hit 10 or above in power, or they'll die and one of your cards in your hand will be destroyed. Utilize the leeches to damage the boss, while you use Arbalest cards to damage it as well when it is not immune (while the leeches are draining it).
Gernichora is a 'boss' battle that takes place during chapter 4 and can be a rather challenging battle. You cannot miss this as it is mandatory to defeat it to progress.
There are 2 cards that the enemy will play: 'Gernichora,' which does not move and 'Gernichora's Fruit,' which will be moved towards 'Gernichora.'
If 'Gernichora's Fruit' is on the same row as 'Gernichora,' then at the start of the turn it will lose 3 health while 'Gernichora's Fruit' will strengthen itself. When 'Gernichora's Fruit' reaches 10 health it will explode and damage your cards. What you need to do is to not destroy the 'Gernichora's Fruit' since they will do more damage than you can, but also not let them get to 10 health. Thus, only damage them to stop them reaching 10 and when you know your attack won't kill them. Then you simply keep this going, not letting 'Gernichora's Fruit' reach 10, while not killing them and letting 'Gernichora's' health drain slowly throughout the fight.
It can be tough to manage but with a decent deck of cards that deal some damage, while not being too powerful you can balance it reasonably well. Using the leader card 'Meve: Flail' is also recommended since it will do damage to 3 adjacent enemy units and can be used repeatedly throughout the fight so is a good source of low damage to keep the 'Gernichora's Fruit' cards below 10.
