How to unlock the British Raj Tour achievement in Ticket to Ride: Classic Edition - Definitive Guide
The objective for this achievement is connecting the cities of Delhi, Calcutta, Madras and Bombay in a Mandala (being a closed circle/loop of railways), while also scoring more points than your opponent(s).
Try to start your game with routes being at least close to the shape of the loop you have in mind. While the 4 cities mentioned in the description of this achievement need to be connected in a Mandala, it doesn't matter if a 'stick' of railway is poking out your looping railway to connect to a city for completing a route. By connecting a city this way it will count as a completed route (if the other one also is connected), but it might not get its own Mandala bonus.
I cannot give you any actual tips as your opponents are quite good in blocking your first idea of the Mandala. I can however describe the process my achievement-game went through.
The routes I was able to start my achievement-winning game with were:
- Delhi to Indur
- Katni to Waltain
- Katni to Wadi
I created the Mandala connecting the 4 big cities, either passing through the cities needed for my routes or having a simple ‘stick-connection’ to complete these routes. When this was completed, I managed to draw one new route which I was also able to connect being:
- Delhi to Calcut
At this point my opponent had less than 2 trains, giving me just one more turn. I connected Manmad to Indur, creating a second Mandala for my route starting in Indur. This, combined with having the longest route, gave me and my yellow railway network 97 points which was just enough to beat Jane Stanbot and her 93 points.
As a visual aid for those who fancy one, this is how my achievement-winning ended up like:
