How to unlock the 1, 2, 3! achievement in Ticket to Ride: Classic Edition - Definitive Guide
The description for this achievement should be clear enough. Score more points than your opponent(s) without using any of the 4-piece, 5-piece or 6-piece tracks.
User 'anhil' on the Steam community suggested playing against a single C. Huntingbot, but as he is said to prefer the smaller pieces of railway I chose to play against Marg Loughbot instead. Pick the opponent that matches your style.
The destination tickets you start your game with are important. I would recommend that they are close to each other. Also try to avoid cities with limited connections with less than 3 pieces, for example Dijon and Lyon.
Because placing trains takes a turn and when placing trains you do not get to pick a colour for a connection between cities, take into account that your possibilities might be limited as your opponent most likely has more to say in what colours the map will become.
If you have spare trains, take a chance and draw another destination ticket or try to block your opponent(s). When playing the game for this achievement I was lucky picking new destination tickets and I ended the game with 7 ones completed.
Try to keep your railway network as much in one continuous track as 10 points for also having the longest railway is better on your side than in the hand of your opponent(s). If you were lucky with the routes you picked in the beginning of the game, you might also end up with the Globetrotter-bonus of 15 points for completing the most routes (as correctly mentioned by Gacys Clown)
This achievement is not very difficult, just make sure to always be aware of what your opponent(s) is/are doing and which cities they are trying to connect. Feel free to place some spare trains on track they need or to give every route around their existing railways the same colour, or a colour you have a lot of so you know they do not.
In my achievement-winning game, my yellow network of railways ended up with a score of 133 points, which was more than Marg Loughbot's 81 points and 2 out of 3 completed destination tickets. As a visual aid for those who fancy one, this is what my achievement-winning game ended up like:

The Globetrotter bonus is the same on all versions of Ticket to Ride, for the most completed Destinations, not most connected cities, like on the Asia map.

You are very much correct, sir! I have changed in the solution and gave you credit for pointing this out for me :)
