How to unlock the London Calling achievement in Ticket to Ride: Classic Edition - Definitive Guide
The description of this achievement should be clear enough. You will have to finish a game while scoring more points than your opponent(s), while also connecting London to all neighbouring cities, being in a clockwise rotation:
- Northampton (1 pink or blue)
- Cambridge (1 orange or yellow)
- Ipswich (1 white)
- Dover (2 grey)
- Brighton (1 grey)
- Southampton (2 red or black)
- Reading (1 green)
When choosing your first destination tickets to play the game with, you can theoretically pick any ones you like. I suggest having at least 1 or 2 going to London or having a route that crosses this city. This is to reduce the odds that your opponent might end up placing their trains on one of the connections leading towards London.
I suggest before placing your trains on any of these short pieces of track that you purchase the ‘Boiler Lagging’ technology card. This will cost you 2 locomotives, but you are free to change every locomotive needed for 4 other cards (but I would not recommend doing this). This will give you 1 extra point for each route you place your trains upon, giving you an easy 7 points extra for just meeting the requirements of this achievement, while awarding you even more points when you get to the point you are placing trains to complete your destination tickets.
This achievement is not very difficult. You can theoretically pick your destination tickets as you like and play the game like you normally would. If you are curious about the process I went through, I have this written out in detail in the spoiler tags underneath as it is not a step-by-step guide on unlocking this achievement.
