How to unlock the Ticket Puncher achievement in Ticket to Ride: Classic Edition - Definitive Guide

This achievement is much easier than it might sound. One of the new rules when playing on the Switzerland-map is that discarded destination tickets are actually discarded and will not appear in another draw for new ones. There are a total of 46 destination tickets in the game, which means that after the 5 starting cards for you and your (in this example just one) opponent there are 36 cards left. This means that you have to draw new destination tickets for a total of 12 times. Take that into account and keep a close eye on the amount of trains your opponent(s) has!

There are multiple possibilities to work towards the requirements, but what worked for me is to create a route going from southwest towards the northern border with Germany. This was quite simple, as the destination tickets I picked in the beginning of the game were Schaffhausen - St. Gallen and Lausanne - St. Gallen. I would advise to make sure you also connect to Bern and Zurich, as most destination tickets seem to lead to either one of these cities.

When I completed these routes (having 20+ trains left) I drew new ones from the stack. Most of them are just a simple branch off from the line I already created. You might have to build some more short pieces of railway and/or expand to other countries. In my achievement-winning game I expanded to France, Germany and Austria (and even Liechtenstein), which made sure that all destination tickets connecting to a country (except Italy) I drew from the stack were instantly finished.

In my achievement-winning game I ended up with 18 destination tickets, of which I completed 17. This gave me, being the yellow railway line, 179 points which was much more than Marg Loughbot's 96 points. As a visual aid that might be of any help, this is my achievement-winning game:

This is a great solution - worked first try with your tips. I was able to complete 16 out of the 17 destination tickets I ended up drawing while emptying the deck. I'm sure I could have completed even more but I didn't want to risk it. Thanks again for the strategy!
