Silly I know, but make sure under Settings on your main menu, and then under Gameplay Settings, that you've turned off the green beads (which leaves the green grids on), or green grids entirely. I had everything else turned down so as to be as easy as possible.

Go to Play Now from the main menu, and a Practice Round at Mission Hills. Choose any golfer you want, really, but I went with Jack Nicklaus, circa 1972-1980 because his putting is fantastic. Launch the round.

Missions Hills has incredibly large and mostly flat greens, and obviously in a practice round it doesn't matter what your score is. Once you get on a green, putt the ball to a point on the green that is more than 40 ft. from the hole (I sunk several 40 footers that did not count), and then use the putt preview to see if you're on line. If not, make the necessary adjustments, and putt.

If you miss the putts, you can keep putting the ball out to 40+ ft., and then try again. If the game moves you on to the next hole saying you've exceeded your shot limit, you get 17 more greens to play around with.

EDIT: Credit to mfeforever for catching that green beads can be turned off but still leave the greed grids on.

You don't need green grids turned off, just the intermediate setting of no beads.

Set your shot up with the Green Grid Beads turned ON!! then go into the pause menu and change the settings so the green grids beads are now OFF! it is really simple, best place to do this is St Andrews holes 8 or 9 as they are flat and rather easy to do it on. thanks

This is actually much easier than it sounds as you can manipulate the game settings mid-round after every shot. On any large green play to 40ft(12.2m) away from the pin (St Andrew's has plenty of huge greens if you can't find one easily), and line up your putt using the putt preview to ensure it is going in. Once lined up, press start and enter the gameplay settings menu, turn the green grid off and resume the game. Sink the putt and the achievement unlocks.

There are plenty of long hard putts in the game, and it can happen on virtually any green, but St. Andrews, though having some of the toughest greens, also has some of the easiest. Holes 6-9 all are great for this trophy, but the best is hole 9. Select St. Andrews, and set the course settings to clear weather conditions and no wind. Set the pins to easy and start the practice round at hole 9.

Get the ball to the very right side of the green. Take your time getting there; you can take as many swings as you want, just make sure you get to the very right of the green. The green is almost completely flat, making there little to no things making this putt hard aside from the sheer distance. Keep the green lines on still, line up your putt, and use your putt preview. Still using the guidelines to help you adjust from what the preview showed, you line up your putt. Now press Start>Gameplay Settings and turn green grid beads off. Now take your putt. Don’t be afraid to over putt the ball a bit to make sure it reaches. It does not matter if you birdie the hole or if you get a quadruple bogey, as long as you make the putt with no grid beads on the green. Once you sink the putt, the trophy will pop.
