How to unlock the Pin Collector achievement in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 - Definitive Guide

In the main menu, you can go to the 'pro shop' and see the pin shop. This is where you buy boost pins for holes, players, clubs etc. In gold, silver and bronze.

What the achievement is about is collecting a boost pin for each hole of a single golf course (even the downloadable ones) (including the Augusta 9 hole par 3 course - I can confirm it unlocks this achievement)

To obtain pins you need to purchase pin packs, these are done with in game credits which you earn playing rounds of golf. The 2nd option is to buy credits from the xbox live market place starting from 400MSP for 15000 credits. - No Longer Available

I recommend the basic pin pack for purchase, it is 4000 credits and unfortunately it's pot luck as to what pins you get, all I know is that you need to buy a lot of pin packs before you get close to completing a set.

If you don't care for the player and miscellaneous pins, you can sell them for credits which I would recommend you doing to save time. You can also sell silver and gold pins for credits too as these don't count towards the achievement as you will have collected the bronze first.

A good player will earn around 425+ credits per round, so every 9-10 rounds you can purchase a pin pack.

Good Luck

p.s. please feel free to send me a message if you would like anything clarified, or post below if I can improve this guide in some way.

I must have gotten a little lucky, after I finished the rest of the game, I played quite a few rounds, but I only bought the 800 MS package. I believe after I finished the rest of the game, I had 17 pins for 1 course, 16 pins for 3 courses, and 15 pins for 4 courses. So that just shows that it definitely takes a lot of packs and a lot of luck to fill a course.

220ish rounds + the 25000 coins EA gave everyone after the update did the trick for me. I recommend selling everything that isn't a bronze course pin, including any silver course pins you might get. And keep your eyes open for free packs (I got 3 for watching NHL playoff ads in the last week).

No - but they had a promo vid on today where I got a free pack! Might be due to the US Open...

They do have promotional videos every once in a while that allow you to get a pin pack. I check it fairly often as one day I was able to nab a video after each round I played.

After 99 days (according to 360voice) and 261 hours (according to Raptr) playing I finished this achievement without buying any coin packs. smile

I have had the game for about a week and must have opened 6 or 7 free packs from watching commercials. Keep an eye out frequently.

Finished this without buying coin packs with real money as well. Just kept checking every day for free pin packs for watching commercials and eventually got it.

Regarding commercials, if you see one, try cycling around menus, dashboarding, etc. I've found that there are often multiple commercials available and each comes with a pin pack, it's just a matter of triggering the commercial.

How do you even sell the pins when you buy packs?

@Drunkz 27 - When the Pins reveal after opening the pack you have a list of options to choose from for each pin. cn_A to send to your collection, cn_X to sell the pin for 44 coins.

God, this is a horrid grind now. I've gotten most of the courses to 10 pins. I suppose I'm a little over half way.

Is this actually discontinued or partially? If you had the right pins saved up could you still get this?

After you complete the rest of the game, it'll pretty much cost you in the neighborhood of $50 to buy enough coins to then in turn buy enough pin packs to make it statistically probable that you'll assemble a full set for a course. Some of the early finishers for the game spent a lot more than that.

Or, you could play just under 1000 rounds to earn enough coins to buy the same amount of pin packs. So, there's that. Have fun, I'll probably end up finishing this sometime in 2016.

Alright this is for double coins, double xp and double status points for the Xbox version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14. It's been verified to work on both the digital and retail versions of the game.

Step 1 - Go online and play a 3-hole mini game. It doesn't matter if you win or lose, host or join, how many other people are in the match, or if you even finish all 3 holes. Just make sure the match starts with an opponent.

Step 2 - After the conclusion of your 3-hole go back in to Career Mode and start up your next round wherever that may be (never select the "Training Round" when doing this!).

*OPTIONAL* Step 3 - As soon as the game loads up and drops you on the tee box immediately do the "Save & Quit" option in the Pause menu. Do not take even a single shot before quitting. This is optional because the glitch still works, but the XP displays don't work the same. So rather than showing: Birdie 25 XP twice, it will only show it once. But you're still getting the same double XP.

Step 4 - Once you've quit out... then immediately resume or restart the round (it doesn't matter which one). If everything has been done correctly then the glitch will now be active. You will know right away whether it's working or not because every XP award that you earn will now be listed on your screen twice:

Great Solution, now i can get a pack every 3-4 rounds, this achievement is so frustrating 1 away in about 7-8 collections and now im practically pulling all silvers with 1-3 bronzes but will get this achievement :)

Also, just to clarify you only need to do the steps above once and then every round after in career mode will be double everything

Doesnt work with live tournaments or quick tournaments

This is one of the rarest achievements in the game, as it is entirely luck based.

You will earn EA coins when you play with your created golfer, and these can be exchanged for boost pins in the Pro Shop. Only buy the cheapest packs as these give the most bronze pins, and all packs only give the same amount of pins so this represents the most economical way of getting boost pins.

You will be trying to a fill an entire set of pins to complete a bronze set, so i would advise selling any that are not bronze pins when you go through the packs.

You only get one chance to sell pins when you first open a pack, so choose wisely.

You can purchase EA coins through your XBL account if you want to try and speed the process up - but it's still random what pins you'll actually receive, so this may only be an option for people with deep pockets!

Unobtainable - Server Closure

This trophy is the most time consuming, and is completely reliant on luck. Much like other EA Sports games, this trophy requires you to open packs of cards simply hoping that what you needs comes out. Pins can be bought from the main menu’s store. Enter and click on buy pin packs. Once inside you’ll notice that there are three different types, a low, medium and high level. The high level packs cost the most but also give out the best pins needed for some collections. You buy pins with the coins that you earn from completing rounds and challenges; in other words, unless you want to buy the coins with real money through the PlayStation store expect a long grind if you’re an unlucky person.

Completing a boost pin set requires you to open enough cards and filling all the slots for the set. These sets consist of 1 pin for every hole of every course. You will need to open enough packs to get all of a course’s pins to receive the trophy.
