If anyone has had any luck with this, does it have to be done in one sitting?
I’ve been doing the running around the bowl trick for a few hours here and there on the same save. I’ve easily done it for 10+ hours on the same save, but in different sittings, and no achievement. I try sleeping before I turn off the console to ensure it saves. But still no luck.
I’m playing on the Series X.

Thanks for that. I'm giving the old "running around the purple gem bowl" hack a try before I complete the game. Failing that, I will wait for the patch. More reason to jump back onto the game!

According to the developers the distance was accidentally set to 1000km instead of 10km. This should be fixed once they push the next patch.
If you don't want to wait for the patch I suggest you grab a bee hive, so your character will auto run, and find a path to run back and forth on the beach. Good Luck.
Edit: Thank you gamefreak6667 for pointing out that by taking a bee hive into the bowl with the purple gem in it on the north side of the eastern island you can run continuously without input. Once set up just make sure your controller doesn't turn off and pause the game by either plugging it in or making an input occasionally.

I took a beehive up to where you pick up the purple gem (door key), jumped inside the bowl that the key is sitting in and you can run around in circles infinitely without touching the controller. I'm still waiting on 'sea legs' unlocking, but given long enough I have no reason to doubt this will work.

Glitched.
This trophy is currently glitched in the sense that it was coded incorrectly. Instead of only needing 10km, you'll need to walk/run 1000km, making this trophy take much longer than it otherwise would. It's very unlikely you'll come anywhere near 1000km while playing through the story and finishing up the quests, so you'll need to do some grinding after finishing the game to get this one (until a patch is released, of course).
Luckily, there's an easy, hands-free method that you can use. This method is 100% thanks to gamefreak6667 over on TrueAchievements. When you pick up a bee hive in this game, you will automatically start running on your own. You'll still be able to control the direction you run, but you won't have to physically run yourself. At the top of the Eastern Island is the Ancient Extractor that you'll need for Shrub-Seeing: Ancient Extractor . This island also has a few bee hives that you can use, so don't worry about carrying one from the main island. Before you start, remove the purple gem from the Extractor (if there is one in it), then grab a bee hive, and hop in the Extractor. The walls are just high enough that you won't walk over them and because you're on autorun, you'll hug the walls and just continuously run in a circle.

Once you start running, go run some errands, go see a movie, or hell, even pick up knitting. This grind will take anywhere from 7-9 hours to complete. Make sure your system's settings are set to not sleep or power off on its own after a set amount of idled time. After you've hit 1000km, this trophy will unlock.
Please note that this is currently how Patch 1.02 works. There is a patch in the works to fix this issue, bringing it back down to 10km, but the ETA of the patch is currently unknown.
