This can be gotten in either ranked or player matches. Easiest way, host a CTF game, have your partner come over to your flag and grab it, now select reverse time grenade (LB + B) then throw it at them (LB), it will make them drop the flag and push them back. Simply walk up and retrieve it, rinse and repeat 50 times for the achievement.

Just like to add that the achievement pops at the end of the game.

By far the easiest map to do this on is Sky Hook. There are grenade recharge pickups surrounding the circular platforms leading to each flag.
You should be able to just run around the large circular platform throwing a reverse time grenade with the other person staying right in front of the flag pickup. By the time you make your way around the circle again the pickups will have respawned and you should be ready to throw another.
Be careful to not launch yourself off the platform when exiting the time grenades! I found it easiest to have the flag holder step down from the elevated flag platform onto the lower circular platform, then use the time grenade. This prevents the risk of launching out of the level when exiting the time grenade on the stairs.

I did 2 matches of 25 and didn't get the achievement. I got it for the first 25, but not for 50. Do you have to do all 50 flags in one match?

The 25 flag MVP achievement is for capturing flags. This is for making an enemy flag carrier drop (with a reverse time grenade) your flag and retrieving it off the ground.

Host a custom CTF game with 1 point limit on mp1 skyhook. It is important to change the custom settings so that your time bombs regeneration is very fast. It also helps to change the walk speed to very fast as well.
In game, have one player pick up the flag and walk down the steps. Throw a reverse time bomb to make them drop the flag. Although its worth seeing at least once, avoid walking up steps to escape the time bomb because it tends to launch you hundreds of feet in the air.
Simply walk up to the abandoned flag to retrieve it and pick up the energy capsules nearby if needed. Rinse and repeat and KEEP COUNT. When you think you have 25, simply capture the flag once.

To retrieve a flag, you will need to run over your own flag after an enemy has dropped it. You can kill them yourself or steal the retrieve when someone else kills them, it doesn't matter. An easy way to boost for this achievement is to have a friend come to your base and grab the flag, then use the 
function on the Time Grenade (hold down 
to switch functions). This will cause them to drop the flag so you can retrieve it. Then have them grab it again and repeat.
