How to unlock the Controlled Chaos achievement in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands - Definitive Guide
Notes:
- It is ill-advised to do the Chaos Chamber in co-op, because there is significant input lag when trying to use the encounter transition portals, change Chaos Levels or even picking things up.
- Once you have finished the Chaos Chamber tutorial, the option to change Chaos Levels won't appear until after you leave the area and re-enter Brighthoof itself. Before doing another Chaos Chamber run, make sure you have changed the Chaos Level to your desired one by going: => Chaos Mode => Chaos Level.
- After setting your desired Chaos Level in the "Chaos Trial" menu, don't switch menus or cancel your run, else the Chaos Level will default to an earlier one.
- Please use the Boosting thread here if you need help finding any boosting buddies: LINK
- The upcoming Season Pass DLCs will likely make the Chaos Chamber trophies harder to get, due to the DLC bosses being added to the randomised spawn pool for each run.
- All 3 Chaos Chamber trophies are marked as difficulty specific, because the Chaos Levels themselves are a form of added difficulty along the lines of Borderlands 2's Overpowered Levels and Borderlands 3's Mayhem Mode. Fortunately though, you can earn them with the game's global difficulty set to Relaxed.
- Regardless of which Chaos Chamber Run variant you pick, the Dragon Lord will always appear after clearing the first encounter and ask you to chose between 2 curses - always choose the easier of the two.
- As of the 1.08 patch, the max Chaos Level is 50 but you only need to reach Level 20 for the Platinum.
- There is a weird glitch that causes you to skip the even numbered Chaos levels so you don't have to do them but it's currently unknown how to trigger it. Also, there's an even weirder issues that causes this trophy to pop after only completing 2 Chaos runs so see this thread for more details on both issues.
- The 1.10 patch, completely rebalanced the Chaos Chamber it's now much fairer and has less chance of spawning DLC areas/bosses.
Once you have completed your first proper Chaos Chamber run and earned the Thank the Maker trophy, it's time to work your way up to Chaos Level 20.
It's not known which patch did this but at some point, the Chaos Level system was reworked so now you don't even have to do most of them to get the respective trophies. Credit to Dreggit for this information:
The Chaos Chambers now skip 5 levels after the first one so it goes 1 => 5 => 10 => 15 => 20. This was implemented at some point as a catch up mechanic so you will get the "You Mean the Chaos Levels" trophy on your rank 5 run and the Controlled Chaos trophy on your rank 15 run.
Chaos Levels are earned by finishing a Chaos Chamber run on the Chaos Level prior to the one you're trying to unlock e.g. Finishing a Chaos Chamber Trial run on Chaos Level 1 will unlock Chaos Level 2. Each run lasts anywhere from 20-50mins, depending on skill and your luck with the end boss (which is randomised each time you play). When you reach the reward room, you can spend your unspent crystals by going up to one of the 12 Loot Bunny statues, then pressing and holding until the Loot Bunny has absorbed 2,000 crystals (or however many you have left) and spits out some loot (which can contain 1 or more Legendaries if your Loot Luck is high enough).
General tips:
Play on Relaxed Difficulty - For an easier time, change the global difficulty to Relaxed, go: => Options => Gameplay => General => Difficulty => . This can also be done via the Main Menu before starting the game, just ignore the bit about pressing .
Choose the right build for you - Everyone is different and plays differently, therefore you need to pick a build that works for you and plays to your strengths, though a high DPS (Damage-per-Second) build with fast Ward Regen will serve you well. Youtube is the best place to look when seeking out new builds but keep in mind that Gearbox have a nasty habit of nerfing all the fun/OP builds so what works this week, might not work at all next week.
Earn Crystals - Crystals are earned in a variety of ways:

Earn Crystals - Crystals are earned in a variety of ways:
- Killing enemies
- Completing side objectives
- Completing Encounters then destroying the crystal Lucky Dice that spawn
- Opening the mini-crystal portals by finding and shooting the associated skull
- Destroying Kwartz Crystals (actual in-game spelling) and killing the creature within
Crystals are everything in the Chaos Chamber and you don't stand a chance of surviving a run if you don't earn many.
Pick the right buffs - In each encounter you will find several randomly generated Altars that offer buffs ranging from Faster Ward Regen, Improved Dark Magic Efficiency, Increased Critical Hit Damage, Increased Gun Damage and Increased Spell Damage etc. etc. Whilst most of these sound great on paper, Buffs such as Increased Melee Damage and Increased Magazine Capacity are a waste of Crystals for most builds so avoid any that don't specifically apply to your current one. Also note that the cost of each upgrade doubles each time you buy one so gets really expensive after a while and quickly becomes prohibitive, so choose wisely. My preferred go-to Buffs for any build are: Increased Critical Hit Damage, Increased Spell Damage, Increased Spell Critical Hit Chance, Increased Ward Capacity, Damage Reduction, plus Extra Lives.
Take the right route - At the end of each encounter, you will have to chose between the 2 portals that appear, of which there are 4 Portals in total and each one offers a different reward once the subsequent encounter has been completed. The Dragon Lord portal should be avoided, because the Curses he gives you are more often than not for the worst. Butt Stallion's portal should be your go-to choice, because she will give you a temporary random buff to one of your Skills. The Small and Big Chest portals are up to you, because they are only different in terms of the size of the main Lucky Crystal Dice you get at the end of the encounter.
Do a dry run - Every single boss and mini-boss you encounter in the Chaos Chamber is one you have fought whilst doing the main story, side quests and clearing the optional Obelisks, so it's beneficial to re-fight all the story and side bosses a few times to get their attack patterns down, if you get stuck.
Side Objectives - Every encounter has Side Objectives for you to complete, which range in difficulty from Easy, to irritatingly hard. Here's the complete list of all the known Side Objectives:

- Defend the Butt Stallion Statue
- Destroy the Dragon Lord Statue
- Kill enemies whilst standing on Sacred Ground
- Finish enemies with melee damage
- Keep the Fire Sprite alive by feeding him motes
- Speed run
Of these, the "Finish enemies with melee damage" and "Speed Run" objectives are the hardest/most irritating ones, because it takes ages for a melee weapon to kill anything due to how underpowered most of them are, plus enemies have a nasty habit of spawning on the other side of the map and not moving.
Don't die! - By default, you only have 3 lives but can buy an additional life from the Extra Life alter when it spawns, though due to the cost, it's unlikely you will be able to buy more than 2 of them by the end of your run. Dying means losing a life and the less lives you have, the less likely you are to successfully complete a run.
Don't upgrade an encounter to Elite - Whenever you complete an encounter, you will be given the option to turn upgrade the next encounter to its Elite version by spending between 50 and 54 crystals (the cost varies depending on your Chaos Level) by pressing and holding but don't do this, else you will make the encounter much harder than you will likely be able to manage.
Cheat!: Here's a tip by TaNos_OG_97:
Tip on how to get to Chaos Level 10 or Chaos Level 20 quickly:
1. Find a friend online who is past chaos level 20, preferably someone who is at chaos level 50 or higher.
2. Join their game and complete a chaos trial run.
3. Once you complete the chaos trial, the two trophies should pop automatically.
This worked for me today so I hope everyone who is looking to skip past the grind can use this as a means to get the trophies very quickly.
Avoid the hidden raid bosses - There are 3 hidden raid bosses in the Chaos Chamber and they range from being not too hard to kill, to hard as hell so are best avoided outright. Here's a video showing how to trigger them (credit to Legacy Gaming for this):

After completing the final story quest, the epilogue will walk you through accessing the Chaos Chamber and explain how it works by having you do a tutorial run of the Chamber (note that this tutorial run doesn't unlock Thank the Maker (50G) because it isn't a full run, which is what that achievement requires). Once you're done with the tutorial, you can begin doing full runs of the Chaos Chamber. There is a new of new stuff here, so in this achievement solution I will provide:
While the gameplay is the same as the encounters from the main game, there is one important change to note: you get 3 lives per run. So, dying doesn't end your run, it just puts you back at the start of your current encounter. You also don't lose any money when you lose a life. If you lose all lives, you obviously have to start the entire run over again.
Each run of the Chaos Chamber is structured the same way:
During all regular combat encounters, there will be a secondary objective. Just like in the main game, completing it only increases the rewards (crystals, loot, money) when you finish that encounter. From an achievement perspective, there is no need to worry about the secondary objectives.
After each combat encounter, you'll be presented with two portal options. Again, there is no description for what each is, but here is a quick rundown:
Lastly are the crystals, which are a new currency specific to Chaos Chamber. They randomly drop from enemies in every encounter, and you can sometimes find hidden ones in encounters, but it's not worth it to waste time trying to hunt them down. These crystals can be spent on two things:
While it may seem straightforward, it's actually a bit odd the way it's structured, so I want to quickly explain what exactly you need to do for these achievements.
When you talk to the Dragon Lord, you'll be able to scroll left and right to different types of Chaos Chamber runs, such as Featured Runs, Normal, Extended, etc. For these achievements, you must scroll over to Chaos Trial. The description says it will increase your Chaos level, so that's what you want. Complete your first Chaos Trial and it'll tell you that you unlocked Chaos Level 2. Now the finicky and important part. When you talk to Dragon Lord to start your next run, you will likely still be on the Chaos Trials tab. DO NOT just start another trial to increase your level again. First, you must scroll over to any of the other tabs, then go to the Chaos Level slider and increase your Chaos Level to the max (it'll be level 2 right now), then scroll back to Chaos Trials, and now you can start your next Chaos Trial, playing on the highest level you have so that you unlock the next level. Make sure to repeat this each time, otherwise your Chaos Trial runs are pointless if you forget to scroll over and increase your Chaos Level each time. Also worth noting is that, other than Chaos Trials, every other type of run is completely unnecessary from an achievement perspective.
Once you actually unlock Chaos Level 20, you will unlock this achievement. No need to actually play through and complete a run on Chaos Level 20.
General tips and advice
Lastly is a collection of tips and advice based on my experience with this mode.
- An explanation of how this mode works
- What exactly you need to do to unlock these achievements
- General tips and advice to make this as easy as possible

So, dying doesn't end your run, it just puts you back at the start of your current encounter. You also don't lose any money when you lose a life. If you lose all lives, you obviously have to start the entire run over again.
Each run of the Chaos Chamber is structured the same way:
- You will go through two or three standard combat encounters like you've seen in the main game. After the first combat encounter, the Dragon Lord will make you choose between two different negative modifiers (more on this below)
- You will have a miniboss fight (typically where you kill enough enemies to shatter an obelisk in the center, releasing the miniboss for you to fight)
- You will go through three or four more standard combat encounters (depending on how many you had before the miniboss)
- You will finish with a boss fight. You will fight against a random boss from the main game, in the same arena you fought it in the main game
- Chest - there are two different treasure chest icons. The smaller brown one is for loot and the spikier one is for crystals. In both cases, after clearing the next encounter, there will be a giant Lucky Dice between the smaller ones, and breaking it either grants you far more crystals or some loot, depending on which chest portal you chose. In my opinion and experience, the loot was always bad, so I recommend always opting for the crystal chest over the loot chest
- Butt Stallion - after clearing the next encounter, Butt Stallion will be standing between the two small dice, and she will grant you additional skill points to a random skill in one of your trees (but only one you've already invested at least one point in). It was always either +2 or +3 skill points for me. This is incredibly good, so always choose this option when it's available
- Dragon Lord - after clearing the next encounter, Dragon Lord will be standing between the two small dice, and he will require you to choose another negative modifier, stacking with the one you already have. This is the worst option, so never ever choose it
Lastly are the crystals, which are a new currency specific to Chaos Chamber. They randomly drop from enemies in every encounter, and you can sometimes find hidden ones in encounters, but it's not worth it to waste time trying to hunt them down. These crystals can be spent on two things:
- During every encounter you'll see little shrines (marked as purple circles on your minimap) around the area, and you can pay crystals to buff a specific stat for the rest of this run. They get progressively more expensive the more you buy
- At the end of each run, after beating the boss and going through the gold portal, you'll come to a loot chamber. There are shrines lining both sides where you can spend crystals to get specific loot. If you're after something specific (like a really good pistol, or an orange class mod, or whatever), then I highly recommend saving up 500 crystals each run to spend where you want. If you use 500, you're guaranteed at least a couple purple of that item, and there's a good chance you'll get an orange too

General tips and advice
Lastly is a collection of tips and advice based on my experience with this mode.
- If you weren't playing the main game on the easiest difficulty, I highly recommend going into the options and lowering the game difficulty to the easiest for this mode
- Reach level 40 and equip your best gear (obviously)
- With your best gear, you should have tons of Moon Orbs from completing everything in the main game. Head to the anvil near Dragon Lord and use it to enchant all the gear you're using. Reroll enchantments until you get ones that are perfect for your playstyle. For example. I built my character entirely around damage output and critical hits, so my shield granted +30% gun damage on Action Skill activiation, my melee weapon granted +28% gun damage on Action Skill activiation, my spell granted +11% all damage on spell use, etc. This made me an absolute beast when I'd use my Action Skill to demolish mobs and bosses. This will need to be catered to your weapons and playstyle though, but enchant everything you use, because there are no bad enchantments, just useless ones if you aren't capitalizing on them. Enchantments can be more valuable than the loot stats themselves.
- If you aren't struggling early on, save up crystals to try to get good orange or purple loot at the end of each run to further improve your build. For example, I saved up 500 crystals each run and spent it on the pistol shrine until I got a level 40 orange one that was perfect for my build. Do the same for whatever piece of gear you need to improve your class (and then don't forget to enchant it!)
- If you start to struggle, ignore loot and spend your crystals on the shrine buffs, again focusing on your build. I always purchased damage reduction and damage increase, and I always ignored stuff related to spells or dark magic because I don't use them
- Always, ALWAYS choose the Butt Stallion portal if that option is available after an encounter. She will give a random skill you've invested points into another 2 or 3 skill points that last for the entirety of your run. This is huge, as you can imagine, because you can get massive boosts to your existing skills from both your class mod and from Butt Stallion. Never pass up this opportunity
- Never, NEVER choose the Dragon Lord portal option. This forces you to choose another negative modifier, and with two options per encounter, there is literally never a reason to choose this option
- When you're forced to choose a Dragon Lord option in the beginning, there is never a reason to choose a harder option. Always choose the Easy option (or Medium, if it's between Medium or Hard)
- Just ignore the secondary objective every time. There is no need to complete it, and it will only increase the likelihood of dying, so don't ever bother with it
