How to unlock the Legendary Pilot achievement in Titanfall 2 - Definitive Guide
I never seen this posted anywhere in TA so sharing this. Easy way to get credit for master difficulty. I personally felt this game is unfair on master difficulty. The enemy goes down quickly but takes you down even more quicker. A grunt killing me with a pistol in two shots from 30m distance is just insane. Titans were surprisingly easier to kill.
1. Start the game on master difficulty. First chapter doesn't matter
2. Get killed intentionally. The screen greys out with X to respawn. Do not press x but press start and change difficulty to easy. Do not press x still and the game will reload itself from last checkpoint
3. Play through the rest of the level and complete on easy but get credit for master difficulty completion.
4. If you somehow died on easy after switching, do the same but this time change to master and repeat the steps. Death by fall doesn't matter as it doesn't prompt respawn. Only death by gunfire and explosions count as death.
5. Need to do this for every chapter and can't be done at one stretch. Eg. Finish first chapter , let the next chapter load. Quit to main menu, level select chapter 2 to start on master and so on.
6. Chapter 4,5 and 6 has three sections each. For these you will get credit for only first section initially. The other two sections need to be played on easy to enable chapter and section selection. Once enabled replay the last two sections using same trick from steps 1 thru 3.

If for some reason you do not like commentary, here is a full game walkthrough on Master difficulty without it.
Hope these help.
You may be surprised with how many fights you can run past. The fight after traversing the sideways town to fight Ash for example, you can wait and hide in a house till all waves have released then run past.
Run, Cloak, and Run
- Use cover, cloak and high ground to your advantage.
/ Specially use cloak when getting out of cover or moving into new areas since it’s easy to get killed from behind.
- Use grenades to flush out enemies from cover.
- Be patient, take out enemies one by one. Let your health recharge before taking shots at enemies.
- Enemies tend to shoot or move towards your last known location. Exploit this by flanking them.
Mission specific tips:
1) Mission 2: BT 7274
- Cloak will be your best friend in this mission. Use it to flank enemies and take them by surprise.
2) Mission 4: Into the Abyss
- When you get to Chapter 2, use well timed jumps and cloak as much as you can to bypass most of the combat in the factory. The majority of firefights in said chapter can be skipped this way.
-
3) Mission 5: Cause and effect
- When you get the device in Chapter 2,
4) Mission 6: The Beacon
- The mission’s linear layout makes it difficult to bypass sections. Instead, take enemies out one by one and make ready use of the stalkers racks.

When you start the campaign, you can immediately pause and change the difficulty to Master if you want. Otherwise, when you complete The Gauntlet, they will suggest a difficulty based on your performance. Select Master at this time and then complete the campaign. This is not a very difficult task, though there are a few areas that can be troublesome. Just make sure you use your cloak often, and switch locations so the enemies don't know where you'll be shooting from. Kill a few, cloak, move, etc.
When you're in your titan, you can be taken down rather quickly as well, so use the environment to your advantage and don't hesitate to grab the green glowing batteries on the ground to recover health and shields. Also be sure to use your core abilities often. They charge very quickly, so rather than waiting for the perfect spot, you can use it and just charge it back up.
(Difficulty)
This trophy is for completing the Campaign on Master Difficulty. Completing the Campaign on Master Difficulty will also unlock the trophies for completing the game on Regular and Hard Difficulties due to them stacking. In Master Difficulty, death comes swiftly and without mercy. Master Difficulty is available at the start of the Campaign, but you must press during the first cutscene of the game to bring up the Paused Menu. On the Paused Menu, scroll down to "SETTINGS", "Change Difficulty", and select "Master". This will allow you to play Master Difficulty from start to finish without changing the difficulty setting. It should also be noted, that after completing Mission 1: The Pilot's Gauntlet, the game will automatically suggest a difficulty setting for you. You can refuse the setting it offers as you're not forced to accept it. Additionally, the first Mission doesn't have any difficulty settings attached to it and is not needed for this trophy's unlocking.
On the Mission Select Screen, you will see an icon near the bottom right corner of the screen: . This is the "Master Completed Difficulty Icon" and you want to see this icon on all missions. Your screen will end up looking like this once you completed the Campaign on Master Difficulty:
While playing Master as a Pilot:
Try to not kill every single enemy that you encounter. Most of the game can actually be skipped if you use your Cloak Ability [] to turn invisible and parkour your way past enemies. Doing this and reaching checkpoints will make you beat Master Difficulty with the greatest of ease. There will be a few hard sections and sometimes you do have to sit back and kill all the enemies. For the weapons, try using only Assault Rifles, Light Machine Guns, 3 round burst weapons. Those weapons are mainly the ones most people would use. You could use the shotgun as well, but you don't want to get too close to enemies as one melee hit will automatically kill you instantly. If you're under too much gunfire and need to recover some Health, hide behind cover while crouched [] and Cloaked. Enemies usually always lose sight of you when you do this trick, except for Stalker Robots.
Quick Pilot Master Difficulty Tips:
- Use (Cloak Ability) to disappear when you’re in trouble, escape dangerous situations.
- Firing a weapon ends Cloak immediately, revealing your position to hostiles.
- Wallrunning boosts Pilot speed, making you harder to get hit.
- Shooting a Stalker in the back makes it overload and explode.
- Slide helps you get to cover quickly.
- Reaching checkpoints while being Cloaked is much faster than killing all enemies.
- Hiding while Cloaked makes enemy pilots lose track of your location and position.
- Aim for enemies' heads to quickly kill them as body shots will stun them temporarily before they die.
- Don't rely on melee combat as it will result in instant death 90% of the time unless you melee one enemy. Don't try to melee Stalkers, though.
While playing Master as a Titan:
Try to use mainly the Tone Titan Loadout as your main Titan, until you gained access to the Legion Titan Loadout. While using the Tone Titan, press to use the Practical Wall which will put up a force field that will block all incoming damage in front of you. Enemies cannot shoot through this force field, but you can which makes it the best choice to use. The Tone Titan also has Tracking Rockets [] which can fully lock onto enemy targets. When your shield is gone and needs to cooldown, simply hide behind some pillars, walls, or buildings until your Practical Wall is recharged. Rinse and repeat this process throughout most of the Campaign while using your Titan. As for Batteries, this is your Titan’s Health. You want to try and pick them up only when needed. Titan Health doesn't regenerate over time like a Pilot's Health Bar does and Titan Batteries are limited. They can drop from defeated enemy Titans, but once you walked over the Battery. It will be gone forever until you found a new Battery. If you need help with boss fights, please read the trophy descriptions for more details on how to defeat the bosses. All 5 boss fight trophies are all written with Master Difficulty methods.
Quick Titan Master Difficulty Tips:
- Use the Tone Titan Loadout for the Practical Wall method.
- When fighting enemy Titans, aim for the cockpit of the Pilot as it's the weak spot of Titans.
- Save Titan Batteries and only pick them up when you're in desperate need of Health.
- Save your two Dashes and only use them to avoid taking damage, to get to cover much faster or dashing towards Battery Health.
- Titans have the ability to Crouch [] just like Pilots, use this while hiding behind cover to avoid taking damage from the upper body.
- Stay behind cover and wait for your Titan Abilities to cooldown.
- Save your Titan Core for enemy Titans that need to quickly be destroyed or against bosses who's shields have been taken down.
- If possible, perform a melee execution against some of the Titan Bosses that you face (Ash, Richter, and Slone).
- You can change Titan Loadouts by pressing the button while inside your Titan.
Changing Difficulty Method to trick the game into thinking that you're playing on Master Difficulty:
Additionally, there is an easier way to complete Master Difficulty and that is by doing the changing difficulty method, which hasn't been patched. You do this by starting the Mission on Master and when you die and the screen turns gray; press and change the difficulty to easy. You then need to wait for the game to reload even if it says press to respawn on the screen. When the game finishes loading, you will be on Easy Difficulty for the remainder of the current Mission, but the game thinks you're still playing on Master Difficulty and will get credit for completing the Mission on Master instead of Easy. After completing the Mission, return back to the main menu and select Mission Select. You will see that you've completed that Mission on Master Difficulty because you'll have this icon right next to it: . It should be noted that some Missions are split into three different parts. So you might have to replay those Missions over again if you're using this changing difficulty method.
Furthermore, you can start the next Mission on Master Difficulty and repeat the process again to play the Mission on Easy Difficulty; however, it should be noted that if you died while playing on Easy doing this method. You need to press when the screen turns gray and change the difficulty to Master. Wait for the game to reload even if it says press to respawn on the screen. When the game finishes loading, you will be on Master Difficulty for the remainder of the current Mission. This basically prevents the game from recognizing that you're playing on Easy Difficulty and if you fail to do this when you finished the Mission you would only get the credit for completing the Mission/Chapter on Easy Difficulty instead of Master. If you died again on Master, simply repeat the previous steps again of going into to change it back into Easy.
1. Launch any chapter at the master level.
2. When we die, do not press the square (rebirth), but press options and set the difficulty level to easy, then wait until the hero is automatically reborn. Again, we don’t click on the square, we wait until it is reborn on its own.
3. If you die, then at the same moment you need to set the difficulty to master again, according to the instructions in point 2. In the future, when you are killed again according to the same scheme, change it to easy. But I played through half the game on master, and in particularly difficult moments I changed it to easy.
4. If you fall into an abyss during a jump or other circumstances, then death does not count and the difficulty level does not need to be changed accordingly. In general, if you die and the notification does not appear to press the square to revive, then this will not count as death. Don’t be alarmed if the cellpoit takes a long time to load after such a death and the loading menu appears on the screen, the glitch will still work.
5. This glitch is valid only until the end of the level, after which you need to go to the menu and start the next chapter on the master, by selecting a task.
6. Chapters 4, 5, 6 have three parts. Accordingly, each part from the chapter must be replayed on the master. The problem is that from the selection of tasks you can only choose a specific part when you complete the entire chapter. For example, part 4.1 will count on master, and 4.2 and 4.3 will count on easy. And you will have to replay them each again, as described in paragraph 5.
7. I found a way not to replay all parts of the chapters and not even go to the menu after finishing the mission. Go through it in one wave, so to speak. It’s just that closer to the end of the level, I purposely died and set the difficulty to master and completed the level on it to the end. When you move to the next part/level, you thereby start it automatically on the master.
How to understand that a level/part will end soon? I looked at the assembled helmets. Well, I saw and looked where to look for them. As soon as I collect everything I will install the master. That's how it went until the end of the game.
8. You can check whether your completion of the master was credited in the task selection menu; there will be a medal next to the chapter.
9. In general, the master is not that difficult to play. For some reason, the bots are more annoying, there are a lot of them, they are accurate, but not very smart, but with the titans everything is easier, even more pleasant, I would say. If possible, we simply run away from collisions. We crouch, use cover, shoot from around the corner of the structures so that they cannot hit you. If it is no longer possible to escape, then they lean out, shoot, and hide. We killed the required number of bots, cleared the way and ran away further. When attacking titans, all the tone guns, the last machine gun of the legion and the skorcha core are very helpful, the thermal wave there is very powerful. The protection is good at the tone and the heat shield is skorcha. In general, the tactic is hackneyed - keep as much distance as possible from the titans. It will be more difficult with Gyurza, hide behind rising covers and move more often, although you will have to do this anyway to collect first aid kits. In terms of weapons, Brutus homing missiles and a Machine Gun with expedition missiles will help you. I hardly used invisibility.
