How to unlock the That’s Quite a Collection achievement in Titanfall - Definitive Guide

This achievement IS retroactive with Title Update #8, so if you've acquired 50 or more Titan Insignias prior to the update, the achievement will unlock upon starting the game up.

If you have not obtained 50 Titan Insignias, progress for the achievement will carry over from before the update was applied. To earn Titan Insignias, you can either fulfill challenges tied to Insignias (such as playing every game mode on DLC maps) or you can purchase some from the Black Market. If you've played the game for quite awhile like I have, you will more than likely have a great majority of the Titan Insignias already.

With this new title update came more Titan Insignias to unlock, so now there's even more possibilities to unlocking them! These new insignias are tied in to earning stars in the new game mode, Frontier Defense.

just for sure - do the black-market Insignias really count?
bought one and unlocked 49 ... so i have 50 but TA / XBOX Tracker only got 49 ... ?!

Pretty sure they do. I got this achievement automatically, so I can't say for certain.

well ... played one match of Frontier Defense and it popped after the match
so all is good

***This achievement is retroactive so if you have met the requirements / any progress will carry over. To check your progress load up the achievements app.***

This will unlock naturally as you progress toward Gen 10. There are over 100 Titan Insignias available in the game, including 10 you can purchase in the Black Market, and they are awarded for the same actions as many of the achievements, for each generation, etc.

It is highly unlikely you can get to Gen 10 without this achievement unlocking, but if you do, you can look at your unlocked Insignias and work toward ones that interest you. Go to a custom Titan loadout and choose Titan Insignia near the bottom to see all locked and unlocked insignia, along with what is required to unlock any locked ones.
