How to unlock the TR Hardy Raider achievement in Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft - Definitive Guide
Done in TR1.
This must be done in NG, not NG+.
This achievement can no longer be cheated by just level skipping all the way to the end.
While it's possible with modern controls, I strongly highly truly personally REALLY believe that you need to get good and play with tank controls. You're going to need to perform certain maneuvers that are impossible/more annoying with modern controls (immediate backflips, hopping back to do fake grabs, jumps based on footstep counts and not visual cues), and the clumsiness of an analogue stick will more often than not get you to accidentally touch traps. Enable tank controls, use the DPad, and start a new game.
If you're familiar with the game already, for the easiest time with the least playthroughs, I recommend doing the following playthroughs for TR1
PT1: All Secrets + Items + Kills + No Medikits + Die 36 ways + All misc achievements
PT2: Pistol Only Run + (if you're experienced) < 86 saves + (if you're very experienced) 5 hours
PT3: NG+
Of course if you want to do a run where you do what you want with no guides, or if you're not experienced in the game and might struggle with pistols only, you'll need additional play throughs.
TR1 throws a bunch of ammo at you throughout the game especially when getting all items/secrets and doesn't have many enemies (compared to the sequels). The moment you get the magnums, make them replace your pistols completely; they're very powerful and you're highly unlikely to run out of ammo. I personally prefer to them to Uzi's even.
There are only three stages I think you'll need to be extra careful with on the no medikit run;
There was only one room that gave me a little bit of trouble, and it's the one just before the Doppelganger room, where there's a centaur, shortly followed by two ground atlanteans. The centaur is simple enough to kill/avoid getting hit by. After pulling the lever in the room which opens the Doppelganger room, run to the first "meaty ramp" that's to the right of the Doppelganger door to unhatch just one ground atlantean and kill it quickly without heading further to the entrance of the room. After killing it, run to the "meaty ramp" on the left of the Doppelganger door and the other one should unhatch. Again, kill it quickly.
If the giant meatball hurts you in any way (by you running into it/touching it), restart the level. If you CAN avoid even a single one of those dart traps in the shimmy-over-lava section, proceed and save. Save save save with frequency. There are many traps in this stage and you cannot to lose any health to any of them. To avoid the rolling balls that you come across after Secret 2, do sideflips over them. Thankfully there are not many non-boss enemies in this stage but if you lose health to any of them, load.
Essentially you want to keep as much health as possible for the Natla fights. She's a real pain in the ass. It's not ridiculously hard to get through this but it'll certainly make you save more frequently than you probably usually would on this stage!
Heartisspoken4 also gave some tips to most of these three stages in the comments if you're struggling!
The achievement unlocks at the completed game results screen after the credits (you can skip them).

Sanctuary of the Scion
There's a certain section near the end of the stage, after the giant water room and you run back up the long tunnel back to the beginning of the stage, where you face a centaur with two ground atlanteans. Getting through this bit without losing too much health to face Larson next may take you a few tries (Larson is very easy to kill, but killing him without losing any health is a little tricky and not worth the annoyance).Atlantis
The very start of the stage just needs to be tackled slowly so that you're only facing one enemy at a time. Do backflips the moment the eggs unhatch so that they shoot you instead of chase you, as they're easier to avoid getting hit that way. There was only one room that gave me a little bit of trouble, and it's the one just before the Doppelganger room, where there's a centaur, shortly followed by two ground atlanteans. Great Pyramid
Thanks to the giant meatball at the start, a mandatory drop that takes health, almost impossible to avoid dart traps, unavoidable fire that you need to jump over, and a final boss that shoots you from afar while also flying up to your face, together with traps everywhere, this stage was by far the one that gave me the most problems. If the giant meatball hurts you in any way (by you running into it/touching it), restart the level. Just a few notes that might help with the three levels mentioned above, depending on your play style and what other achievements you're also trying to get:
*This assumes you're using tank controls.
Sanctuary of the Scion
If you advance slowly, you can get the two ground Atlanteans to come after you before the centaur does. You can then retreat down the long, narrow hallway you just came through (before entering the wide hall with stairs from the beginning) and they will only follow you until a little way past the first corner. They'll run back out to the main hall with the stairs, and you will have to advance in that direction to draw them out again. Once they're dead, run out and quickly get a lock on the centaur before firing at it while jumping from side to side. You should be able to generally avoid the fireballs it hurls at you that way. I used that method on my pistol-only run and only took the tiniest bit of damage. It does take a while, though, so it might not be the best option if you're also going for the speed run achievement.
Atlantis
(in the small room just before the room with the Doppelganger) After you pull the switch, you can just roll and run to the door you just opened. If you don't step on either of the "meaty ramps", you can slide down into the Doppelganger room without having to fight either of the two ground Atlanteans. Of course, this isn't exactly an option if you're trying for the all kills achievement.
Great Pyramid
- (while fighting the "giant meatball") Grab your weapon of choice and start shooting the second the level starts. Jump to the side once and then sidestep until you're about in the middle of the corner square. When he gets close, holster your weapons and drop back to hang from the ledge. He'll lose interest and scoot towards the back of the platform. Once he's there, pull up and start shooting. Let him get about halfway to you before side flipping 3 times in the opposite direction and then holster weapons and hang from the ledge when he gets close again. Rinse and repeat until he's down. It takes a while, but it's a pretty safe and reliable way to defeat him without losing any health.
- (when jumping over fire) Start at either side (left/right) of the first ledge and take a running jump over the first flame to grab the next ledge. Pull up and jump over the next flame. Walk to the far edge, hop back, and take a running jump over the third flame to grab the final ledge. As long as you're on the side of the platforms rather than the middle, you won't take any damage from the flames.

I cannot seem to unlock with the level skip method post patch (I know shame on me) but would really like to play through without having to worry about this and the guns achievement. Anyone else able to unlock via lv skip?
Edit:
Now I see your edit to the solution. Guess I missed the boat and legit it goes.
