You can also use the glitch used in the 10 mill run achevement guide and leave it there to acumilate hang time.

As the other solution will probably work just as well, I found another trick as this glitch didn't seem to work for me.
The way I managed to grind my final seconds with the least amount of effort was to weigh down (in my situation I used a stapler balancing on a roll of tape on the other end) my
-button to maintain speed while staying in a pool or halfpipe. By doing this and leaving my console do its work for a while my skater kept on doing 'air to fakie', which by estimate made half of the time my console was doing the work for me being airtime. Off course this depends on the size of the pool/halfpipe you are using, as well as the stats of your skater (speed for example).
