Collected all pellets in one combo in Hawkman in The Hangar

35

How to unlock the Ain't 'fraid of no ghosts achievement in Tony Hawks Pro Skater HD - Definitive Guide

For this achievement, you will need to collect all the pellets in one combo. You will need a well levelled character.

You'll want to start with the manual pellets in front of you from the start, and then grind over the halfpipe. Make sure to manual out of the grind, collecting the ground pellet, and shooting yourself up the quarter pipe high enough to connect with the grind. Continue the grind to the lower level, and jump off to the left side aiming for the manual pellet (2nd room now). You will need a lot of speed here, but if done correctly, hold the manual up the quarter pipe, jumping to connecting with the grind on the higher pipes. Now grind around the corners, jumping off at the red pellet and finishing with the final 4 manual pellets.

My biggest issue with this one is jumping of the grinds. When I do, I usually drag the grinding arrow all the way to the left, resulting in immediate fail as soon as I grind the next time, as the arrow does not reset during a combo. Any tips?
Very helpful guide btw! Your guides are always of great quality, Maka :)

The only grind problem you should have during this achievement is when you do the really high grind after the manual (seen at 0:26) in the video. I don't think it's your balance from before, but the angle you hit it, but for whatever reason, the bar will always go really hard to the left side.

I've watched a few videos, and everyone always has that exact same balance problem in that same spot. Just make sure to fight the balance towards the right side as soon as you start that grind. As for the other grinds, they should be doable. Also, if you travel faster, it can really help in this achievement, because you'll need minimal balance as you don't spend as much time on the rail.

Lastly, make sure your character is maxed out.

I've done it twice, it hasn't popped - I was hoping it was glitched on here. Damn.

Dude, how do you "manual out of (the first) grind"? I can't seem to keep a combo without jumping and that slows me down way too much

@ROBomination, just keep going up and down on the analog stick while on the rail. DO NOT jump, and it will automatically go into manual, with full speed.

I got so close near the end by the manual. the grind was going crazy near the end. Maxed out grind and manual though I think I need the other stats on max as well to make it easier.

Hmm. I was struggling to get that to work. I guess I'll keep ttying. I used to think I was good at this game. Leave it to achievements to prove me wrong.

@ROBomination: I managed to jump 180 off the grind to manual then halfpipe elevated grind (hold right). I got real close again just need the manual at the end.

"It took me roughly 20 mins to get that run in", - Yeah well it took me a good 2 and a half hours. Worst achievement in the game. Although great guide Maka thanks alot.

lol took me like 6-7 hours. I would try for an hour, give up. Wait a day or two and try again. I just couldn't do it. I eventually got lucky.

Weird. Just like Graceland BoOya, I ended my combo missing the second last green. I bailed while turning to collect it, then got up, manual'd over it & achievement popped. I'll take it though. Thanks for the vid +1

If anyone still needs this achievement, I can confirm that you can get 31 out of 35 pellets and bail, then manual and get the next 4 pellets and continue to manual until the achievement pops a few seconds later.

The glitch still works, but I was only able to make it work for the last 4 manual pellets. Also, I was never able to hit the high grind above the hangar door (I tried for hours). Until I realized that if I quickly tapped A a couple times during take-off, I was able to catch more air and get to it every time. I think that's because I'm used to play other Tony Hawk games and tend to keep A pressed all the time... or maybe I just suck. Anyhow, I'm glad to be done :)

Having your stats maxed will obviously help. I found that you need to ollie onto the first rail, and go straight into a manual off of it to maintain enough speed for the rest of the run.

There's also a glitch that might make it easier for you if you're having trouble. The last 4 manual pellets don't have to be collected as part of the combo. You can bail, collect the last 4 manual pellets, and the achievement will still unlock.

I don't think it's the last 4 manuals, it may be the last 3. I bailed twice after the last red one and collected the last 4 in a new manual but it wouldn't pop. After this I got the last red one and one or two of the green ones and then bailed. Got up, started a new manual and collected the last 1 or 2 green ones I missed and got the achievement. Hope this helps.

Glitch works as of today. However it is not a 100% chance. I had to try six times before unlocking through the glitch. Great solution though, thumbs up from me.

This glitch seems to still be working as of 3/13/14 as I just got the achievement that way. I didn't even know about the glitch before I got it. I bailed right before the last pellet and just decided to get the last pellet anyway instead of restarting. To my surprise I got the achievement. Anyway, just wanted to let people know that it still works.

***READ HERE IF YOU'RE HAVING PROBLEMS GETTING THIS ACHIEVEMENT***

I have found a technique that takes almost all of the difficulty out of this achievement for those who are struggling to collect all the pellets in one combo.

The concept is after having collected every pellet you MUST have LANDED only one combo. So if you bail and never land a trick until you collect the last pellet, you can break the run into as many segments as you're comfortable with.

I recommend using MAKA's combo line as a guide. It shows the best route to collect the pellets on one run.

I personally found it best to break the line into three combos: The first section stops right after you break the glass into the second room and collect the green pellet on the ground, go up the ramp and hold a grab move until you bail.

The second section starts from the high rail in this room until you collect the red pellet after breaking through the glass a second time. Again hold a grab move to bail.

Now you're down to those last four green pellets, collect them in one manual perform a flip trick and the achievement will unlock.

***Note: if you just land the manual, it will not unlock.***

Let me know if this helps or if I need to explain anything clearer.

This does indeed work, but I had to do it multiple times. I did it several times correctly (verified by the end results stat screen) but for some reason it didn't pop until the 4th or 5th "perfect" run.

Thank you for sharing this strategy!

This is the best way to do it! I tried doin it at least 5 times following this method and it wouldn't pop, so I tried it by bailing after every single combo and it eventually popped for me. Weird, but at least it beats trying to do this in ONE run.

I've tried this and done it without landing a trick until the end like 5 times....am I missing something? I can break it down into whatever I want correct? I mean I do the first combo all the way to the first red pellet and bail, second combo is to the green pellet right in front of combo and bail, the third combo is up high on the rail then rail to the red pellet and bail, the fourth is a manual to kick flip combo on the last four green pellets. Am I not able to break it down that far? Did they patch this?

I can confirm that this method still works with the latest patch. A couple things to note;
1) after hitting the retry button don't hold up on the analog until you get moving, a lot of times if you hold up you get a "no comply" for 100 points before you move an inch and it renders this method useless.
2) as you collect the last pellet your combo has to have more than a manual in it, so add a grab and land it clean and the chevio should pop.

For those of you wondering about the patch: as of December 22nd of 2016, I got all pellets and bailed after the second red one. Manualed and got two more pellets and bailed, then manualed on got the last two while doing a kick flip. Finally popped

I figured out why this doesn't work sometimes. You need to keep the combo until you see the score earned banner show up, the achievement should pop a second after that. So you manual into the 4 green pellets, if you don't have enough speed to go up the side for a grind just jump and manual to kill time. You'll see "All Pellets Collected" about two seconds later you'll see "High/Pro/Sick Score Collected" & then the achievement will pop. Hope this helps

I followed every bit of advice and worked on this for over two hours. Nothing. Never popped for me.

Edit: finally got it. I think one extra thing that could throw this off is the game counting a regular Ollie as a trick even when it doesn’t show points. On my successful run, I made it through the first glass, manual through the green, and bailed on the top rail grind. Unlike what normally happens, I respawned on the top shelf and rolled into the grind, then finished as explained above.

By Trombonafide on 18 Apr 2020 09:03
Yeah, I think you're onto something about Ollies counting. I went through the solution as described and it didn't work, but then I did it again avoiding even landing Ollies, and it popped.

The video link MattiasAnderson shared above was a life saver. I could never gain enough height to reach the rail above the door (third grind rail).

Bailing out after collecting the green pellet in the helicopter area and then getting more height myself made the run so much easier to finish off. Even bailed on purpose before the final 4 pellets to finish it off

Maka91's guide is pretty sound but after far too many attempts at this son of a bitch, here's my guide.

1. Max out your stats. Seriously, this is balls hard. Don't make it harder for yourself.

2. I used the analog stick as the steering control on the d-pad is gash (even the new twisting, adjustable ones).

3. When going for manuals I throw in a few extra moves on the analog stick (a manual requires up/down but I go u/d/u/d or whatever so that there's no doubt).

4. Try to leave any grind or manual while in the middle of the balance meter. It really helps.

5. If you miss a pellet (usually that floor pellet in the second area) but are still in your combo, keep going. You won't get the achv in that run but you'll get some bites at those final four pellets and they are a bitch to steer through when your balance meter is wobbling all over the place.

I'll use CAPS for any bits I consider to be quite important.

For the first section, speed is everything. Get a jump onto the ramp and land in a manual. Build up speed right through the first pellets. Jump into a grind over the half pipe.

DON'T JUMP OFF THAT GRIND. Drop off naturally and go into a manual. You need speed to get up to that high grind rail. When jumping up I POINT VERY SLIGHTLY to the left so that I don't have too much speed on the rail.

Ride the rail but JUMP OFF AS SOON AS YOU HIT the last yellow pellet, making sure to catch the red in the process. In mid-air push the stick u/d to catch a manual (you should just land in a grind but sometimes you don't and will have to ride the manual onto the grind).

IMPORTANT: while grabbing to two grind pellets start pushing left (this will unbalance you a lot but don't worry). Jump out as soon as you get them and land in a manual. Steer through the solitary floor pellet (this bit is a pain in the arse) and go up the quarterpipe to hit the high rail (above the big door to the hidden outside area).

WHEN HEADING UP TO THAT RAIL HOLD STICK RIGHT!!!!!! Land in a grind, holding that stick right will balance you as your grind meter will be really loaded left at this point thanks to previously jumping off of that earlier grind (the 'don't worry' bit)

Hold down Y as you drop off the high rail. DO NOT JUMP!!!

Ride the low grind around the corner. As soon as you hit the final grind pellet you need to jump left to catch the last red pellet. I always do this with a kickflip as it seems to stop me overturning.

LAND IN A MANUAL! Hopefully you won't have too much speed. Hit the first of the four pellets (32) and turn right towards the next (33). Do not try to ride straight through number 33 but rather trying to arc through it as the final two are in a curved line from it.

LAND SAFELY! I didn't and the achv didn't pop that go. Seriously I don't know how I didn't kick my television in its imaginary electronic balls at that point.

The other solutions are really good but I like to mention one last thing. If you collected all pellets in one combo, be sure to continue in a manual a little longer because if you land just after you collected the last one, you will not unlock the achievement. It happened to me twice and it's really frustrating so maybe it's better you know.

If you downvote, let me know why but if I can help one other gamer with this 'solution', I'm glad I helped someone out.

This achievement isn't as hard as it seems. Here are few tips that i think might be useful.
1. I did this on d-pad, but i guess everyone is comfortable with what's best for them. I think it's easier to go into manual and balance while turning with d-pad.
2. Wait to the very last moment and start a manual for the first pelets(i used nose manual)
3. Do a little olie and grind over the halfpipe.
4. Do not jump of, just while griding tap 'up-down' and it should go into manual.
5. Before reaching quater pipe adjust your manual a bit(tilt it to the other side then the meter is going)
6. Jump on a rail high up.
7. Let the balance meter go about 1/3 to the right while grinding(you might tap it to the left and then to the right)
8. Jump collecting red pellet and after you collected it turn skater 90 degrees
9. Grind over 2 yellow pellets and jump to the left(this is tricky part because while jumping to the left your balance would probably go to the left, this is why you let it go 1/3 to the right while you was high on rail)
10. This is the hardest part. Manual over green pellet and try to do it in straight line from where you jumped of to the connection of gray and brown quarterpipe. Also adjust balance a little bit
11. Jump to the rail high above and cross your imaginary fingers because reaching it is hard.
12. Grind through yellow pellets and do not jump down, let it fall. While falling you can do 90 degree turn to make sure you hit the grind, but do not turn before jumping, do it while you're in air
13. Now just grind and keep balance
14. Jump off as soon as you get last yellow pellet
15. Manual on a green pellet and keep going inside halfpipe while maintaining balance.
16. If you're lucky and have some skill you should manual all the way to the last pellet. If not don't worry. I bailed 3 times before last pellet, then when i tried again and got there for the 4th time i bailed again but this time instead of restarting i just waited till the skater got up and did a manual to the last pellet. Achievement still popped up.

I hope this helps :D
