How to unlock the Gap Skiing achievement in Tony Hawks Pro Skater HD - Definitive Guide
First, unlock the Downhill Jam course in Career Mode.
Now, make sure you've used some of your money to upgrade your character's speed and air, at least a little.
Now make your way down the course, and keeping in the middle, until you shoot up a ramp onto a rock. Now make your way down the rock, onto the ramp and make sure to jump at the top of the ramp. If you make it far enough you will get 4 total gaps including the Ski Jump - 100 Gap. Make sure to press the A button if you get the "Big Drop" warning. Once you land it, you will unlock the achievement. If you screw up, restart your run and try again.

Gave you a thumbs up for posting that you had to press A on the landing, thanks I was driving me nuts, got it 1st try when I read your guide.

Maka, you always make such excellent guides and this is another example of that. Thanks.

Ok, so the reason people aren't getting it is because you're not supposed to follow through with the ramp. Near the end of the ramp (underground) there is a box with an arrow pointing forward and caution stripes on either end. YOU MUST LAUNCH FROM HERE. If you slow down and take a look at this area, you'll see that it is inclined more than the end of the ramp.
You also don't need to do any tricks, just land the ollie with 4 gaps registered and you're done!

Apparently, this achievement is very picky on exactly how to get it. As you can see on Raticate's solution, I had issues getting it. A friend recommended jumping before the ramp ends about halfway between the bottom of the jump and the opening. In the video I show the location as well as a few of my attempts, including the successful one.
This can be done in free skate mode (unlimited time).

I think you are right, I tried many times without success, and when I released the A button sooner, I got the achievement 1st try (probably having maxed out stats helped a lot). Thanks for the video.

I can get the distance but the big drop knocks me off on the landing ? I guess I need to boost some stats?

about halfway through the level, you will see a big tall rock, get on top and ride it all the way down the ramp and underground a bit and back up on a ramp. you should get 3 "blue gaps" and the achievement will unlock after landing
As everyone else has said, it is much easier if you have your hangtime, air, and ollie stats maxed out. Be sure to hold A when you see the big drop message pop up.
It's about 3/4 down the map.
