How to unlock the Archivist to the Aesir achievement in Too Human - Definitive Guide

I would like to confirm that buying color runes (and salvaging them) counts towards this achievement. It unlocked while I was buying color runes. I'm pretty sure salvaged items still count towards this achievement because when I received it, I had a total of 6,900 items on the leaderboards.

Shinerbock88 posted a comment below on March 14, 2013 talking about some tips about auto salvage settings that may help with this. Because it's been four years since I've played this game, his words are probably better than what I could write now! See his comment below and good luck! Thanks Shinerbock88!

Did some research, and there was indeed a update that fixed this exploit. You will have to clear your hard drives cache, if you want to it this way.

This solution totally works. I did it myself. You do not need to clear your hard drive cache. Do not listen to the people saying you have to clear the drive cache. Just buy color runes from the armor shop and salvage them over and over.

Thanks for the confirmation TEH MATTZ0R. I've received messages from others over the last year saying they were able to get this achievement by using this method without clearing their cache while others feel the need to.

I think the problem is that the item/kill achievements seem to be of the "your mileage may vary" variety. Some people get this achievement before they obtain 7,500 items (like myself) while some don't get it until they acquire 12,000 items confusing people on what actually counts towards it.

The 20,000 kills achievement acts similar where some people unlock it before they hit 20,000 kills, and some don't get it until they have 25,000 kills.

It definitely seems that "your mileage may vary" on these achievements, but people with persistence eventually unlock them. Thanks for your confirmation about not needing to clear the cache and good luck to everybody else!

Just to once again make the confirmation that no cache clearing is required. Great solution madman! :-)

I confirm this too. Thsi method works, and you don't need to clear the cache. I got it with about 6800 item drops in the leaderboards.

For some reason it's not working for me. I tried with the update. No change on the leaderboard. It's still on 3993. Then I tried without the update. (Clearing cache) For about 1hour and 40min. Wasted about 250.000 on runes. And still no update score on the leaderboard when I checked again. So I'm guessing it's not working anymore. Gonna do some Spider Farming and try with the runes either tonight or tomorrow morning.

Alright, it seems that the leaderboard updated it a little later. So now I'm on 7330 after an hour of Spider Farming.

So I can also confirm that this works now. Go offline, buy runes, sell runes for about an hour or two. Go online play a little and then it should update your collected items.

I can also confirm that you can have auto-salvage on. I had mine on purple, worked without a problem.

I was working on this, and doing it offline w/ a cleared cache. The leaderboards won't update as soon as you log on to xbox live, so I went and played through Hall of Heroes online, then had almost 1000 more items in the leaderboards (which I did offline). So it does seem to work, but give it time after you log on. IDK about the cheevo though, I've yet to hit the 7500 mark.

You do not have to clear your cache. Auto salvaging is fine. I unlocked mine at some odd 6400 items, 08/15/11. Cheers :D

Have been playing this game FOREVER without ever getting this Cheevo. Decided to give it one last go today. Cleared cache, went and bought some color runes and pop, achievement! Finally! My online leaderboard is at 8277 so you definitely cannot trust that thing. Supposedly if you play online co-op, it counts ALL drops received either by you or your team-mate so that is where the discrepancy comes between Cheevo and leaderboard. Good luck to all who are still trying for this, just know that it still does work after clearing cache and playing offline (NOT SURE ABOUT ONLINE!)

Confirmed as of today, buying colored runes online with update will unlock the achievement. This was the last one I needed and hadn't touched the game in about three years. Popped up after buying and selling runes a handful of times.

Got it right after I posted this. Here is what I was doing, I was playing multiplayer by myself by making the second spot private. Leaderboeards did not update but it was counting. Got it by buying and selling for about an hour.

I'm having trouble with this one - leaderboard shows 7751 items, but hasn't updated for a couple of days now. Played a lot in co-op, will this affect the total showing on leaderboards?

I played a lot in co-op and I got it under 7500 items. It's safe to say the leaderboards are kind of screwy. I also know that they never patched my solution and that your gamertag is pretty awesome!

Keep at it Stacy, you'll get it soon enough!

Leave Auto-Salvage on "Off" or "Smart Mode"! There MAY be a glitch for this achievement!

Even if this isn't glitched, do it just to be safe. madmankevin, you may wanna put this in your solution just so folks are aware. You don't have to give me credit as I'm not the one who found this and I just wanna make sure people see it and there's no point in me writing another solution when yours is great. We just need to make sure people are aware.

There seems to be a possibility that if you have your Auto-Salvage set to a color that items being picked up are not counting toward the achievement (in other words, Auto-Salvage has to be set to "Off" or "Smart Mode.") I've had my salvage set to Green through Purple for most of the game and I've not poppe the achievement when I should have a while ago.

I cannot confirm this, but what is said here makes a lot of sense to me because I'm sure I've picked up more than 7500 items given as much time as I've put into the game with at 12%-15% Loot Drop for most of the games and as often as items drop. Check this out:

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12...

I don't have Gold, so I can't check my total items, but I've played through the complete story twice and I've run through individual levels many, MANY times for farming purposes and the Unstoppable achievements. I'm certain I've gotten over 7500 items.

Of course now that I came to post this I'll pop the achievement on the next item I find lol.

Good luck and I'd recommend doing the above just to be safe. It's a pain to go back and salvage everything, but make yourself a salvage set where you cap salvage % and equip it when you manually salvage everything. It makes a huge difference in bounty when you're capped at 50% and is very helpful early in the game.

I appreciate the tip! And because it's been so long since I've played this game and I don't remember how the salvaging works, I'm going to direct people to your comment which will probably be more helpful than anything I can write four years after playing. Thanks Shinerbock88!

Not a prob, man. Happy to help. I just wanna make sure people get the achievement and there's no point in me writing a solution when yours (and others) is top notch. I got my Defender to Lv50, my Champion is in his late 30's and I also have a couple others that are 10-15. I JUST got my 1000 runes achievement yesterday and STILL haven't popped this one. I am certain I have nabbed more than 7500 items as much as I've played. I don't play MP, so I've no use for XBL Gold, but I may get it this month just to check how many items I have picked up by looking at the leaderboards (if it'll even register). I'll let you know what I find out if I decide to do so.

I decided to get XBL Gold last night to check the leaderboards, and nothing I have done in the game prior to getting Gold has registered. So I don't know if my item counter has to start over or not. I still haven't found any epic armor or a 3rd tier charm, so I'm sure I'll play long enough to get the achievement eventually.

Sorry so many comments as I'm sure your inbox is getting bombarded, but I just wanted to update.

It started out at 0. Now it's saying 5200+. I'm guessing that's the number of items I've collected after I switched my Auto Salvage Type to off.

Another thing that is fubar is that my weekly total for items collected is MORE than both monthly and all time. That shouldn't be possible lol. The smallest number weekly could be would be the exact same amount as monthly or yearly and the only way it could be that low is if I played the game for a week or less. So something somewhere is messed up.

I read somewhere that it sometimes takes a while to update items collected to the leaderboards and that their achievement didn't pop until well after the 7500. That doesn't make a lot of sense either though. One would think it would be automatically uploaded.

I just got my first 3rd tier charm and I need 6k kills with a 20 hit count or higher. So I'll be playing the game for a while. If I don't pop the achievement by the time I meet the charm requirements then I doubt it's gunna pop for me lol.

As of June 19, 2013 purchasing color runes at the stores in the Aesir still works. No need to clear cache or play offline. Played the single player with AUTO SALVAGE: SMART MODE the whole time! Looked at the leaderboard and had 5600+ so I purchased runes for a good hour, atleast 180 per 10min. Achievement then unlocked, but leaderboards hasn't updated.

The leaderboard does not count items collected if you have auto-salvage or any color salvage on while in any campaign mode. Only use auto salvage while in multiplayer online. I believe you count all items collected by both players in co-op online. All my campaign and all spider farming both in single player with 1 private slot and co-op were done this way and achievement popped at 7500.

This method still works I had my auto salvage turned off and was buying 55 color runes a go and then selling them back.
The leaderboard all time was not keeping up but I believe the weekly leaderboard was updating at a faster rate.
Here are my leaderboard stats when the achievement popped

All time 6826
Monthly 1315
Weekly 2140

This does work online no problem I unlocked my achievement 12/08/2014

Thanks great solution :)

Can confirm that clearing caches and other shenanigans is completely unnecessary. Bought and resold the colour modules from store on a Series X (so no option but to use the latest version of the game there). The people who said it worked for them after doing this likely would have unlocked the achievement anyway if they just stuck with the buying/selling, but they just lost patience :)

The leaderboards are nonsense though. When I started the buying/selling the leaderboards said I had 7115 items collected, yet it took me another ~1740 buying/selling of these colour modules before it unlocked.

I think the theory of co-op counting items dropped but the achievement only counting for what you actually receive is a good theory. I played co-op a decent amount so I can believe it.

But the only sure way to keep tabs on your count is based on your 1000 runes achievement. If you have 1000 runes, then you only have, at most, 6500 items to go :)

Not to add more confusion to this, but I’m at 7524 items and no achievement. I’ve only played the online multiplayer once to get the Teamwork Takedown achievement. The person helping me already had the achievement, so we only had to get it for me. It took us one try on 1-1. We only had to kill the first group of goblins (25 maybe?) and the first troll. I find it very hard to believe that we got 24+ items from those roughly 26 enemies. I’ll update this with my final number. I’m only going to buy color runes moving forward.

I unlocked the achievement at 7520 items.

I'd like to add that the item count is accumulative between all characters, and if you acquire 6,000 as a defender, for instance, and 1,500 as a beserker then you will still get the achievement. Just be patient.

Keep the best for last
-------------------------------

Best thing is to keep this achievement for last. You will gather a lot of items in the normal course of the game and while trying to get the unstoppables. No need to grind for it when you just start the game unless you are really impatient

Which method to use?
---------------------------------

You could buy all your items from the shops but then again, you most likely won't get elite armor this way ;)
So I decided to do some spider farming. You can find all about this method on this site: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=14...
Credits to BarbaricGoose!

Why this method ?
----------------------------

You might ask yourself why spider farming when I can buy colored runes in the shop? Well it's very simple: You can't buy Elite (or Epic) armor in the shop. When I started to use this method I had +5500 items collected (you can check your progress in the leaderboards). When my achievement unlocked I had 7457 items collected. Meanwhile I got 3 pieces of Elite armor.

My experience
---------------------

- While spider farming press cn_right. On the right side of you HUD you will see DAMAGE. Each time you hit an enemy you will see how much damage it does. Some of these spiders only did 1 or 2 damage after their shield was gone. Just rinse and repeat the proces. These spiders won't give beter items, they are just harder to kill and a waste of time.
- Also avoid Elite spiders. You won't see a difference in name but these spiders are bigger and have a bronze/gold (whatever) color. Same as above, these spiders won't give beter items. Rinse and repeat.
- Playing online co-op with or without a partner gives more items then single player. I had that impression at least ;D Another advantage of playing online is that you aren't stuck up with Thor and his annoying oneliners anymore!
- Use a laser weapon with a good range and reload speed. Use some runes to increase those two skills.
- Also make sure your loot drop chance is at +15%
- You can keep track of you progress on the leaderboards. Mine unlocked at 7457 so I suppose all items across all characters count.

Well an EASY way to get this achievement now is just to clear your system cache (in your xbox system settings), play offline, and buy/sell back color runes.

color runes wont run out, theyre cheap, and you can get 60 runes and sell them in appoximately 2 minutes.
in 10 minutes you should have 300 runes.
1800 in an hour.

Its best to do this after the rest of your achievements have popped, as you will collect about 5000 total in your main human and cybernetic runs.
your total time boosting this way should only take about 2 hours.

When you kill enemies/search totems, you will receive items such as weapon, armor, blueprints, runes, etc. You need to collect 7500 items total from drops for the achievement to unlock.
