How to unlock the Unstoppable: Ice Forest achievement in Too Human - Definitive Guide

This is probably the most difficult of the unstoppable achievements to get. Ice Forest is a difficult level to complete without dying once. You have to do it all in one sitting, no saving or returing to the Aesir. It's probably easiest with either a bioengineer or a defender with the battle cry that either deflects or shuts down status effects. Don't waste time and energy in the arena's as you don't have to complete those to get the achievement and they can be rough. On the second platform you jump to with 2 trolls, just avoid the enemies, run like mad and shoot the clamps around the outside of the platform. Destroy 2 or 3 of them and the whole platform above will come crashing down and kill every enemy there, making your job a lot easier. Just take it slow, be extra careful of the status enemies, learn which ones you can shoot and which ones to melee.

Great info, but one thing to mention is that armor caps at 1529 and anything over that is wasted. I had armor runes capped at 90% and found out I wasted a lot of rune slots with armor runes (I had around 2200 on my Defender). Around Lv40 you shouldn't need to use any armor runes if you get the armor upgrades via Defender's skill tree.

So slot your armor accordingly and don't waste your rune slots in your Lv40 and Lv44 4 slot armor with armor runes and this will be a really easy achievement. I just started a new character, used a lot of Fierce attacks and finished this achievement as a Lv14 Cybernetic Bio-Engineer with no probs at all. A new character will make this achievement MUCH easier as you don't have to worry about min-maxing your character. The more armor the better at low levels because there's no way you'll reach the armor hard cap.

Thumb up!

What I've seen a few times in where, in a larger battle, sometimes you don't see any health drops until you die, where it drops 3 or so on respawning

On playing a load more, I've noticed the game drops less health when you in the yellow, and feels lucky if you see a drop (from an enemy) when red, usually having to break a box to get some.

I just did this awful task and didn't get the achievement. Never had trouble with the others... This is just the worst one to glitch. What a waste of time.

something nobody mentions but after the game credits and kicks you back to menu if you resume campaign you can replay campaign cutscenes and easier enemies and all. I died 5+ times during my first 2 true attempts but brought in my level 36 commando with about +95% total armor across all pieces and it only ever got dicey twice so much easier. also cannons are really helpful due to range and ammo.

Unstoppable achievements are hard, but not impossible. The trick here is to take your time and develop your character according to each stage. For Ice Forest, I used a lvl 12 Cybernetic Defender. The main atribute of this char is high defense, and the especial skills which give him a lot of extra protection, like ice shield, reverse attacks, ice mines, etc.

Armor: Before the game started, I had bought some runes and created an armor with high blunt and slash resistance. These are the attacks that are going to be used againt you during the stage.

Skills: I used the left skill three, because of the laser gun bonus and the ice mine spider (which can freeze lots of enemies in the most difficult parts of the game). Don't forget to fully upgrade your bonus shield skill (the first one in the tree), to give you extra armor, and activate your sentinent weapon as soon as possible.

Weapons: it's important to get a laser rifle, due to the defender's laser bonus and because the second shot (fire grenade) can destroy multiple enemies and cause extra fire damage for over 5 seconds. I also got a staff, because it's fierce attack (arrow of fire) goes in a straight line, which is perfect to the level, since we are playing most of the time on narrow bridges and the enemies generally run in lines.

Difficult part: There is only one difficult part in the stage. It's a round arena, filled with goblins, trolls and a leader spider. DO NOT kill them. Simply run around with your rune shield on (ice shield) shooting the arena's pillars. After you have destroyed four of them, the roof will fall on the enemies. If you get surrounded by goblins, just use your ice mine spider, and keep on shooting the pillars.

Boss fight: After you chase the boss around the stage, you'll have to go up an elevator to bring the bad guy down. To do that, you must first destroy all the pods that are protecting him. On each floor, there are some cointainers that may be used to avoid his gunshots and grenades. When you get him to the lobby, kill all the other enemies and then focus on the boss. The main strategy here is to get close to him, use your ruiner attack, and hit him with a combo. Shooting is also effective, but it takes a lot of time, due to his dodge moves. Sentinent weapon is also extremely effective. If you get low on health (for the unstoppable achievements, an yellow sign is already dangerous), you can destroy the containers around the area for healing.

Nice solution, mang! I am slowly going through them and reading them (and thumbing up haha). Cyber Defenders are beasts (mine is 50), but I decked mine out with armor % runes and got him to around 2200 armor BEFORE I found out there was an armor cap. So I just made a new character (Cyber Bio-Engineer) and blew right through it.

Thumb up!

I actually found the unstoppable achievements really easy. The tactic I took was using a Defender, which I started with fresh, and boosted his defence and armour bonuses. Managed to get the first 3 levels first time around, Helheim took a second attempt due to carelessness.
Always add armour bonus runes to empty slots on armour, buy more if you have to, and attack power bonuses or speed bonuses to your weapons. I had a 97% armour bonus and just breased by.
Take the middle slots, but fully upgrade the armour bonus one first, gets you a +10% fully upgraded.
And make a lot of use of your Fierce attacks. Especially with a hammer, they really help with taking care of large groups of enemies.

I agree with a lot of the above...

Just want to add.... this is polerized level... which means no GUNS ARE BAD!!!!
Lvl 50 defender is your friend...

Don't forget the short cuts on this lvl can save you tons of time....

after a bridge with an evil troll that shoots.....

TAKE THE ELEVATOR TO THE RIGHT..... not the path to the left....
when you ride the elevator up....
go left and kill the missle guys.....
shoot the transformer and turn around and run back to kill the troll behind the force field.....
now ride the next elevator up....
and run to the left destroying the barrels on the collums until the ceiling falls...

NOW you have just saved yourself 30 minutes of precious time

After trying many different guides, and failing, I decided to try this on my own terms.

Human Commando LV 50, and use the following points:
Wrecker of Mead Halls - 6
Adept of the Burning Spear - 10
Pinning Shot - 10
Bullet Tree - 10
Smoothbore - 10
Ballistic Telemetry Feedback - 10
Fenrir - 3

Spend the rest of your points to unlock the Human skills to max out Daring Shot and Need to Survive.

You'll then be firing so rapidly you can take out all of the normal enemies in next to no time, filling up your combo meter so that you can use your ruiners & fenrir for the polarity enemies.

I did this too on the replay mission and found it easier than the story mission.

Tips:

1. Keep moving - just run and gun as much as you can. Don't waste ruiners on goblins, save them for the polarity elves, and save Fenrir for the Green elves, the ones that poison you.

2. Pay attention to the polarity of the enemies - there are several locations where you will be swarmed. Pay attention, and use the enemies to your advantage, try running and jumping to intermingle the explosive enemies with the ballistic resistant ones, then shoot all of the explosive ones, causing a chain explosion that will decimate the enemy group.

3. Trolls - Ruiner, QT kill. Easiest way to deal with them. Regardless of polarity, a ruiner will destroy the entire armour leaving them vulnerable to the quicktime kill.

4. Multiple trolls - Again, run & gun on the cannon fodder, and if you can, take out the trolls weapons first, ESPECIALLY when you meet the frozen grenadier.

5. When getting low on health run. Deploy your spider to take a little bit of flak away, and deploy Fenrir to get some kills to drop some health orbs.

Lastly, just persevere. It took me 2 tries with this character, first time I died quite early, but second time I did it.

EDIT: Sgt Malarkey Br said the achievement didn't unlock for him even though he didn't die. The only thing I can think of is that you have to have zero tokens for that level. To reset that level's tokens, you have to complete all parts of the level and then start the level again from the beginning

I just unlocked this achievement about 20 minutes ago solo so I figured I would try to make a guide for this. Before I start, let me say that I will mention some things that were said in other guides (ive read a lot of different suggestions and I finally just broke down and made a defender), but I will make sure to note when that tip was in another guide. There is going to be a lot to read so Im sorry for that, but Im trying to be as thorough as I can(you can obviously read as much of it as you can stand) on to the guide:

First of all; The first time I used a level 13 defender as was suggested in another guide and got killed by a spider RIGHT before I could make it to the boss so when people say watch out for trolls/polarity enemies(yes those enemies are tough), I would say hands down the spiders are the biggest threats.

I ended up making another defender and playing Hall of Heroes twice in the 'online multiplayer' mode(more enemies = more XP even if you are playing solo) then I went back to the main menu and hit 'start campaign' and did Hall of heroes a third time(this time was the campaign version) and when I finished it I was nearly halfway through level 16. Another change this time was i DID NOT use slug ammo like Ive used on every character. Instead I used a laser rifle because I found out from using google and searching for tips on doing this level(it was also mentioned in DiegoCaldo's guide) that laser rifles' secondary fire does DoT(Damage over Time) so when you fight polarity enemies, they go down fast due to DoT. Before I actually started the level I backed out a few times to reload the stores to get some decent weapons and equipment. The armor I had on had a 75% armor bonus(from runes) and the armor rating was about 350. The laser rifle I actually had equipped only did 28 damage, but I bought a laser rifle I could use at level 17 that did 33 damage and then a rifle that I could use at level 19 that did 41 damage. I bought and equipped a hammer that did about 180 damage, but also bought a second one that did 334 damage at level 19. If you know how to deal with the Spiders(I didnt) then dont follow this next tip, but when spiders were just sitting back I would take out all of the enemies and then equip a Laser Cannon(not a rifle) and use its secondary fire. The cannon secondary fire is a more powerful version of the primary fire and it did about 90 damage per second toward spiders, but when you need to reload it is extremely slow. Your next best bet is to use finishers and melee in general to at least take down its shield(watch out for your health) and then just run away hitting it with your laser Rifle while you back up. The only spider I had major trouble with was the very last spider you face. He always seemed to have a lot of health and did massive damage to me(I died the first time, and the second time I got past him with almost red health). Polarity enemies will almost always die far away from you(thanks to the DoT) and regular enemies just cant stand up to you at all. If you do ever get caught by a status effect keep rolling around(it minimizes effect damage). If you ever do manage to get surrounded by polarity enemies, use your battle cry(I will talk more about this later). Once you actually start fighting Hod, your basically home free(be cautious though), just keep shooting at the platforms hod stands on until you finally make it down to the bottom floor. I got this next tip from x360a, but when you get down the bottom floor; just kill all of the other enemies and then Respec working your way down the skill tree(I used the middle tree, as has been sugested by Slaverty) and put 10 points into the sentient weapon. Once you put the 10 points in and only Hod is left; activate the weapon(click both sticks) and just keep following Hod around shooting or meleeing him and let the sentient weapon tear him apart. He should die before the sentient weapon runs out and when he does you will finally have unlocked this achievement.

Extra tips(some of these were in other guides): You will get to an area that has trolls and a whole bunch of other enemies in the middle, but you will notice that there are these huge tanks that you can shoot. Once you have destroyed 4 of them, all enemies will automatically be crushed(this was mentioned in DiegoCaldo's guide).

Do not be afraid to use ruiners, battle cries, or the spider; especially the spider. Its better that you use one than take unnecessary damage. I didnt use any of these that often(I think I used 2 ruiners, 2 battle cries, and the spider 3 times). When you use the spider though, I recommend just waiting for it to recharge(also got this tip from others)

Before you start the level(I highly recommend you do not replay, but rather do it in campaign mode) make sure you are absolutely ready. Try to have your armor in the 290-350 range if you can and get as powerful of a laser rifle as you can. If you prefer slug though thats fine; That's what I used when I first tried the level, but I got killed by a spider. I switched to the laser rifle only because I learned about the DoT.

Give yourself around 3 hours to do this level. I took me about 2 1/2 hours both times I played this as a defender, but remember you cannot quit out for any reason

Skill Tree: I used the middle tree and went cybernetic, but put no points into cybernetics. I focused on maxing defender's resilience, put the minimum points into grim resolve(you shouldnt really be that low more than once, unless you are careless), I put 4 points into the spider just to activate the battle cry, and then you can split your points however you want between 'Tyr's Best Work', the spider, and 'The Berserker's Grief'. Of course if you dont like the middle tree or you can get by with a different set, then by all means use your own set up.

Edit: When you use the battle cry in the middle tree. It will stop you from getting hit by status effects, so this is very helpful in tight situations(you will still take damage though from explosions). Also that spider down the middle tree can be so helpful because as far as I know while its active you will take no damage from anything. It runs out rather quickly though so take advantage of it

I would like to thank DiegoCaldo and Slaverty because I included some of their tips in my guide, and I used those tips while I was going for this achievement myself. I also found some tips on x360a especially from this thread: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15.... I also use gamefaqs in the hopes of finding more help, but most useful tips were already mentioned in the other guides on here. I hope somebody was helped by my tips. Thanks for reading if you actually bothered to read/skim through it. =P

Well I see lots of guides for defenders for this level but I would just like to add that while defenders can take punishment each class in themselves have their advantages and disadvantages. I will also add my tips and tricks for the level and some useful tips for other levels. Please Note that the enemy spawns described in this text will be referring to a co-op match (or replaying of a level in SP).

I personally have done unstoppable runs with every character class and alignment and can say that each has their perks.

My first unstoppable runs were with a human beserker. They themselves can doll out tons of damage usually one-shotting everything in their path and if built right can use ruiners constantly to keep things clear.

Bio-Engineers can heal but can't doll out to much punishment. This can be off set however by taking their skill tree to have the invincibility spider with runes inserted into armor to shorten the cooldown time allowing them to run into the battle. As for the low damage output this can be solved by building a luck based character with the black hole charms. IF built right the character can decimate high impact areas by instantly killing all enemies on the level.

Defenders have been covered quite thoroughly so I will leave those alone.

Champions can decimate with pistols or air combat depending on play style and are one of the most versatile classes in the game.

Commandos decimate on all levels but the alignment will depend on whether you play a defensive or offensive commando. The human commando should be built and geared toward rifles and can lay waste to everything except ballistic resistant trolls. While the Cyber Commando should be geared toward cannons for maximum effectiveness and can constantly knock enemies down and maintain a max combo for ruiners.

One of the most important things for this level regardless of class and alignment is to learn the level. Every enemy spawn will be the same and only has two possibilities to it, that from what I have seen depends on your alignment. Learn which enemies to shoot and which ones to not shoot. Keeping the damage text on (right on d-pad) will allow you to instantly know which type of enemy you are dealing with. When you hit a ballistic resistant enemy with a gun your damage will drop to at max the low 50's and that is with a fully capped out Human Commando geared toward damage to the point that he normally does around 10k a second.

For ballistic resistant goblins it is best to use the fierce attack on them. Shooting them will activate their polarity effect and can work to your benefit if you can kill them while they are surrounded by their friends but can also back fire if you are too close.

Ballistic resistant trolls should be dealt with last after all goblins are cleared out however u should take out their gun/hammer hand first before dealing with the goblins unless there are mortar goblins since they will knock you out of an air finisher. The easiest way to eliminate a troll is to do an air finisher on them. The finisher will instantly destroy all armor a troll has. Follow that up with a ruiner as soon as you hit the ground and it will instantly destroy a trolls hammer/gun hand making it next to harmless along with some enemies. After that you can kill all other enemies and then just jump on the trolls back.

Mortar goblins will be your biggest threat and should be dealt with as quickly and safely as possible. Rolling is your best friend. While rolling you are invincible to all damage. If you are set on fire, poisoned, ect. rolling will minimize the damage to one hit every few seconds rather than the three or four hits you would take by just running. Rolling right as mortars hit the ground will nullify the damage and only hit you with a polarity effect if they have one.

Watch out for the red goblins. These guys will take away your combo meter with every hit. Also the gold trolls will be a big threat when they are on the field because if you get hit with their polarity effect will make your armor next to useless as they will debuff your armor rating by around 90% pretty much making a one hit kill on you possible by anything still alive on the board.

Also nearly every cut scene in this game save for just a few will allow you to have a free battle cry if you have a combo meter built up. By this I mean that while the cut scene is playing if you hit x your battle cry will activate but your combo meter will not drop.

When you get to the first generator it is best to run past it and deal with the troll that is waiting for you. Kill it then go to the force field. You will spawn the enemies on the other side and the trick here is that you can shoot through the shield or use fierce attacks to kill them but they are unable to hit you. Then you can back track shoot the generator and only deal with the ice goblins that will spawn near the generator and two polarity mortar goblins that will spawn behind where the force field was. Also while the cut scene of the generator is being destroyed plays out push x for a free battle cry (works for all but the last one while you are in the well).

The third generator is also easier if you don't shoot it right away. Deal with the two trolls first then you only have to worry about the goblins that spawn.

After you destroy the last generator (the one in the well) you will run across a bridge. It should be noted that you don't have to fight the trolls that are to your right. IF you turn left you can run around the big circle to the next jump avoiding them all together.

When you learn the level this becomes much easier and for one final tip of the actual level the last jump you do before chasing Hod down I found it generally contains a Gold Gun troll and a gun Ice Troll. For this it is much easier to just run than it is to try and fight. When you land if you turn left and just start rolling you can get past all the enemies before they have a chance to attack you and once you are on the final long bridge that you chase Hod on none of the enemies by the jump will follow you.

As for Hod using fenrir is the easiest method and then just rolling around to avoid damage from his guns; but beating him down works just as well if you have a character that can take a bit of punishment. For commando's using a rifle can work well. . . Yes he dodges bullets . . . but this keeps him from attacking and if you can time the grenades to hit when he lands he takes quite a bit of damage quickly while being unable to attack you in return. I usually throw out fenrir with my commando and when he is done I only have to launch two grenades to finish him off. My fenrir is only at lv 5 after all upgrades are done as I only every put 1 point into him. If you build the character right you really never need him.

If you still are having trouble with this level and have a lv 44+ character I can walk you through this or any other level with ease. Also if you want any advice for building a character you can feel free to pm me as I have built characters that are complete beasts with every class.

The game spawns more common goblins in Co-Op vs other enemies you will face in SP but is offset by spawning more of them. So the debate over is it easier in SP vs Co-Op really comes down to your character and how good you are.

While not ideal for most common gamers, if you are a level 50 you can maximize your skill points by knowing the max value of the skills you have. Some don't need as many points into them and your ruiner caps out at 5. So if you have two +1 to all skill runes and two red charms you only need 1 point into your ruiner to cap it out. Also putting 10 into any other skill with runes and charms will cap skills out at 14. Most skill trees have at least one wasted skill that you must go through in order to really get a lot from your character so it is best to put the minimal points into that one. When inserting runes keep and eye out on the bonus cap as to not waste rune slots. Also it is debatable if using Aesir armor is the best or not. IMHO Aesir armor is only good if the red rune it comes with is beneficial to that character. I use the lv 44 gear with 4 empty slots, a staff or gun with 4 empty slots and then a red weapon (either the characters elite weapon or a alternative elite weapon that works better for that character). All slots are maxed with red runes and I always have 2 red charms. For most characters the Skein of Abbilation (I think is the name of it) works great. It is a charm that has a chance of absorbing damage and nullifying the effect. This charm kicks in quite often and can keep you alive more than anything else. It has worked so well that I have had a few people think I modded my character to be invincible after taking 9 mortar round with zero effect.

This game is more complicated in its design than it looks at face value so I would strongly suggest doing some research, trying out the different classes, alignments, and skill sets to find the one that best suits your play style before attempting the unstoppable runs.

Just did this level with another player! I died once and he never died! He did get the achievement!

So you can play this in co op and have another player take the offensive roll and try to protect you as much as possible.

When I play this game with the other player he is the healer and I am the defensive/tank guy.

I died right at the end after using this purple teleporter near the boss fight. I had full life and got one hit killed somehow. So be aware of that! Use RB when you get cornered! And Y for the spider!

Now we will replay this level again and I will try to be extra careful!

So if you do this in co op! Don´t quit if one of you dies. Try to at least make one of you not dying once because it will still unlock for that player.

Warning: Both times we got to the end there was a glitch in co op! The elevator were the boss is will most likely glitch. The host will have to attack enemies on each floor and the other player will be stuck in the elevator. Some enemies will drop down through the roof and the player stuck in the elevator have to be ready and kill those enemies. When the boss show up after the different floors it will also glitch on the 2nd player. The 2nd player will most likely not be able to see the boss but can still be damaged with your fenrir attack. Use your Fenrir even if you can´t see him as it will damage the boss. Then hide in the elevator if you can´t see the boss and let the host kill the boss. First time none of us could deal damage to the boss but after the host kicked me from the game and invited me again I could see the boss and kill him while the host hide in the elevator. So you might have to play the level two times if you play in co op. But it should be easier in co op!
