How to unlock the Nest Egg achievement in Torchlight II - Definitive Guide

So this won't be a gold farming guide or anything since there's no guarantee how much gold you'll find in any location. But basically, you'll get this on your way to Level 100. You can get weapons/armor/trinkets/gems that add a small percentage bonus to found gold, and the MapWorks (accessible from the Minehead HUB after completing the campaign) sells maps that have 25% increased gold found while running the dungeon.

At any rate, the most important thing to know about this achievement is this:

You must have all 1 million gold in your purse all at once.

So your purse is your achievement progress. The stat that shows how much gold your character has picked up is meaningless (unless you've managed to spend no gold, I suppose). Just try not to spend too much money, especially on re-spawning, and it'll pop eventually.

If its useful to others, I got this achievement at about level 85 having only picked up greens/blues and running maps after finishing the game. I had spent some money on enchants etc. before I realised you needed 1 million in your purse all at once, so in theory it come come closer to level 80.

Looks like you got it to pop. Any clue as to what was making it not pop?

Just FYI - I'm my grind from level 90 to 100 in NG++ where item upgrades (for me) were very rare if at all, I accumulated over 800K of the necessary 1M. Strictly running through the game's story and side quests; finished it off using maps with 25% gold boost. For anyone else making that final grind to 100, if you can be thrifty for those last levels you'll really cut down how much time it'll take to finish off your 1M.

Barter VI spell is useful. It's available after Level 78 from spell/jewelry vendors in towns. It costs about 10k gold but give you more gold when selling loot as well as paying less for when you need to upgrade equipment. You need to put one on your pet too I believe to get the prices if you send it to town.

Mapworks with 25% gold boost is definitely the fastest way. You can save time by buying multiple maps with this at once since the vendor reset is a bit wonky. You need to travel to 3 different areas. I find easiest is Portal to Estherian Enclave then run to the Imperial Railmaster and have him take you to Zeryphesh. Then Waypoint Portal back to Mapworks.

For Mapworks, avoid the green ones (Abyssal and Frostshorn) even with 25%. They have less treasure and secret rooms. However they do have higher odds of Enchanters which can be useful late game but very costly (Master Enchanters can charge 100k+ for the 4th enchantment on an item.)

This is more of a warning than anything. If you're playing this in co-op and happen to notice when you initiate a trade with your buddy, there is the option to give them gold. I thought we'd save half each then combine our income to get this achievement out of the way so we could go back to actually spending money.

To give gold, you need to hold Up on the D-Pad. This gives gold in increments of 5. This does not speed up, nor is there a way to specify how much gold to give.

You need to hold Up on the D-Pad for 30 minutes to transfer 100,000 gold. So if you're going halves, thats 2.5 hours for the first transfer, then 5 hours to give the 1mil back to your buddy.

Short version, don't count on trading gold with your buddy to get this achievement.

The fastest way to accumulate 1,000,000 gold is through endless selling.
1. To do this, go to the inventory menu, select the most expensive item for sale and mark it for transfer to the pet by pressing the button .
2. Then go to any of the merchants in the city and select the “Sell” tab.
3. Select the inventory tab with the item marked and press the button we sell an item from the pet’s inventory (in this case, the item itself remains in your inventory, but gold is awarded for the sale).
4. Then we sell the item from the inventory by pressing a button (in this case, gold is re-credited for sales).
5. Then go to the “Buyback” tab from the merchant and buy back the sold item (as a result, double the sale of the item minus one return results in plus one sale).
6. After this, repeat steps 3-5 until the treasured 1,000,000 gold is accumulated.
PS . These manipulations can also be performed for several items in one inventory tab, which will speed up the process of accumulating gold.

If you go to platinum and level 100, then you’ll get to 80 somewhere, if you don’t waste money on all sorts of nonsense and kick yourself for the money
Also, to speed up the recruitment process, you can insert stones with a bonus to gold into objects (they often fall out of mobs and chests)
Well, if you meet a sorcerer with the postscript “lucky” in the dungeon, you can splurge a little and enchant all things, since he has a chance to give a bonus of +2% to gold 33%, this expenditure will pay for itself.
My bonus to gold reached a total of 60% on top (this is enchanting things + stones + the passive spell “treasure hunter”)

How to save up a million, and if you haven’t made a trophy for a legendary, then spend that million on crafting this legendary. This will save you a lot of time, believe me, because... drop leg is absolutely random. Or you will be like me, having reached level 100, play for another 20 hours and then only realize that you could craft everything. Kill 2 birds with one stone.
