Torchlight II

This is more for anyone that went the Engineer/Spider path and isn't getting numbers even close to 10k.

UPDATE: Spiders can do 10k+ damage! See end of post.

I got this achievement at around level 70. As I was running maps, levelling up towards 100, I kept an eye on gear with the +Strength attribute and stashed it. Once I gathered enough pieces, kept an eye out for a Very Slow melee weapon. With high Strength and a Very Slow weapon, I then picked the lowest level Map that had the +200% damage bonus.

Just to give you an idea, the gear I had stashed had the following Strength bonus:

Head +24 (also had 8% fire damage)
Chest +55
Pants +42
Boots +34
Shoulders +38
Gloves +42
-- overall Strength was around 250.

The weapon was a Greathammer that had 250-500 physical damage + 250-500 fire damage, +2% chance to crit

When I did eventually crit, I did over 12,000 damage.

This is more to give any Engineers an idea of what stat gear they should be looking for.

UPDATE: So I discovered a spectacular item for Spider Engineers - the Iron Sword. It adds 25% Pet/Minion Damage and 30% Pet/Minion Speed (among other things).

To get this marvellous thing, you will want to go to Act 3 / Sundered Battlefield. Head North/West to find the Gravedeep. This area has a chance to spawn an easter egg area called "Notch's Mine" with some Minecraft enemies and a chest. I found the area would show up roughly 20% of the time. If its not there you'll need to reroll the world (multiplayer / host / reroll world) and try again.

The chest here has a guaranteed drop for one of 4 Minecraft themed weapons - Diamond Sword, Gold Sword, Iron Sword and Wooden Sword. If you don't get the Iron Sword, you'll need to reroll the world and try again. Took me almost 30 mins to get mine.

Then what did I do? It all again so I could have two and dual wielded. Combined with other gear items boosting Pet/Minion Damage, I'm now seeing the Spider Mines do 11-13k damage on critical.

Even if you already have 10k achievement, that Iron Sword is well worth seeking out for any Spider Mine/Pet build.

This can be easily unlocked once you beat the campaign the first time and unlock the Mapworks, that is assuming you didn't get it during your first playthrough. There will be multiple maps you can choose from and purchase from the map seller. Just look for one that adds 200% more damage to your attacks and unload on the first big mob of enemies you see in the dungeon. The achievement should pop fairly quickly. I was a level 55 Outlander with a level 10+ Glaive attack when I got it.
