How to unlock the Thunderstruck achievement in Torchlight III - Definitive Guide

Choose the Railmaster, put 10 points on Build Train and Shocking Round; put 6 points on Mortar Car (rank 2 reduces ShokingRound cooldown), put 6 points on Ghost Train (rank 2 increases train attack speed); select only Build Train and Shocking Round as active skills. I have not used any passive ability of the relic as a precaution I do not know it will help or not to kill faster.
If you've unlocked Arc-Powered Pants (+ 25% bolt damage), Arc-Powered Shoulders (the active skill - Charge Up, helps you grind kills faster) and any other Arc-Power armor piece, equip it and add Charge Up as an active skill. in case you could choose bonuses in the legendarium like: Arc-Powered Pants (+ 25% bolt damage) and Arc-Powered Shoulders (active skill - Charge Up), Woodsbeast Sandals (increse critical chance and attack speed by 25%).
Use a weapon with electrical damage and Shock probability. start running next to the Voltura let the train do all the dirty work, use the 2 active skills as you like.
if you are over level 60 you could farm starting levels in Fazzer with Voltura as enemies (I have level 6 Fazeer with Voltura in "The Switchback Witout Bounds" level 51 enemies, my weapon has + 69% stats and running all over the map I reach about 5% kills required per run in about 10 minutes) or you could opt to run in the Grand Hall or Scavanger's Trail.
I hope my information can help you... Good game and good farming...

This achievement is a bit confusing, but hopefully this helps clear things up.

While you can certainly farm kills with Shocking Rounds using the default attack, it's very slow and does very little damage. Despite what the earlier guide here says, you CAN use the tier 3 attack that pairs the Shocking Rounds attacks with the bonus lightning bolts. This makes the grind way, way faster.

Note, when you activate Shocking Rounds you get about 8 seconds of time for when the skill is actually active. You can tell it's active as the little lantern on your car will change from yellow to blue. Once the skill deactivates the lantern will go back to being yellow and you'll need to wait about 12 seconds until you can activate the skill again.

I've been farming this in Act 3, Grand Hall. There are a ton of Voltura. Just park your car, run around and aggro nearby Voltura, get them in range of your car and activate Shocking Rounds. With the tier 3 attack, you'll make short work of them. Rinse and repeat.

The number is 1990 kills. All the other SKUs actually say it.

Did you have issues with the achievement tracking? Kills will regularly stop registering for no discernible reason.

Yeah. A couple times it stopped registered. If I remember correct it kinda locked up around 25% and then again at 45%.

The zone "Cliffs of Ore" also seems pretty good so far. It's just south of the grand hall waypoint, every enemy is voltura, and there is a unique and a chest at the end.

Also my progress is much slower when activating tier 3 shocking rounds and having the lightning get the kills, versus just letting my train shoot things.

I came back to Grand Hall after hitting 60 expecting to train the entire zone to my railcar. Of course my gear was all scaled to the area's level...what a F'ing crock.

To my experience only passive kills count. All cars removed except the first 1 lvl 1 obviously to have the train and the shocking one lvl10. Never activated the ability after I realized it was drastically less effective. I also sent my pet every 2min to town.

I say this achievement is bugged. Getting many kills and counter stays the same. Tried all methods listed.

It's not bugged, take out all of the skills slot only shocking rounds and build train then only use build train once. You should be getting kills without activating the skill. Kills with active skill (shocking rounds) doesn't count.

I gone with the Blood Drinker relic and i dont use any of its active skills while running trough the Grand Hall. Build train is maxed out and active,Shocking Rounds maxed out and activated when ready, pet has only passive skills...the achievement bar is still at 0% and it doesnt matter if the kill was with default rounds or tier 3 rounds...still 0%.
Any suggestions?

Popped this one last night. Level 60 dungeon 40 bonus gear. I took off all my pet offense skills, took all of the points out of my train cars except for the first one and the electrical one, both at 10. Ran from the Grand hall to cliffs of ore and it took about 12 runs. I was using the active skill and it tears through normal mobs quick. Didn't have any issues with the counter iterating on XB4 with the achievement tracked. The terminator achievement I got organically because I used the Shotgone a lot.

Also bugged? My progress stuck on 1% !?!angry

Edit: Got it running. You must not activate the 3 bonus in the Shocking Rounds skill, then it counts the kills.
