How to unlock the Ill Omen achievement in Total War: THREE KINGDOMS - Definitive Guide

I covered this in my Live & Let Spy guide, so I'll link that and copy the tldr here (in hindsight I probably should have done this guide first and linked it in Live & Let Spy)

Total War: THREE KINGDOMS (Windows)Live & Let SpyThe Live & Let Spy achievement in Total War: THREE KINGDOMS (Windows) worth 183 pointsPlaying as any faction, make your spy become faction leader.

  1. Choose Cao Cao for extra spies
  2. Recruit as many spies in the same faction as possible (more chances to discredit)
  3. Discredit character and faction as much as you need to (DON'T go to 0 satisfaction)
  4. Recruit the faction heir and use them to assassinate the leader
If you recruit a family member that's not the faction heir instead, you'll be able to use assassinate faction heir instead of assassinate faction leader instead (I believe the faction leader option depends on being the heir, but I might be wrong). Either one should work for this achievement. The key is that they have to be in a family member. It will not work with other kinds of spies.
