You start with 600 gold. You have 300 gold to spend, so i bought 2 club and 2 shield. Then (assuming you're not bad) take control of one of the clubbers and proceed to win.

Thanks for a solution that works from the start. Just wanted to note that this will void the achievement for not possessing a unit in case people are going for that. Easy enough to get later but still.
Took me a couple tried but you can outmaneuver any number of enemy clubbers if you are quick.

Here's if my guide on how to do the accountant achievement, but let me post a quick and easy walkthrough:
1. Select "Campaign"
2. Select "The Adventure"
3. Go to page 3 and select "A Newfound Friend"
4. Place Da Vinci's Tank
*I also placed some decoy cheap people up front to take some hits while the tank got going, just making sure to spend half, or less than half, the available coins.

Easier method now that you cannot use OP factions and if you do not want to control units.
Settings -> [DLC] Bugs -> Make Ranged Units Attack Fast
Campaign-> Introduction -> Clubs.
Place 2 Medival Archers and just watch.

Introduction campaign - melee
Stick one harvester behind 5 halflings. Try keep them fairly close together so the enemy stays grouped together.
The halflings keep the enemy occupied for a short time and your harvester can use his sweeping AOE attack.
