How to unlock the Checkmate achievement in Totally Accurate Battle Simulator - Definitive Guide

There's two easy ways to go through the campaigns without losing

- You can use the in game debug tools and use the shoot option to kill enemies yourself
or
- You can download an OP faction and use them in the campaign but only if you play on PC

In my video I show how to do both methods

Debug Mode Method: 4:10
PC Faction Method: 8:45

If it's your first play-through, each battle of a campaign must be won in order to unlock the next battle. When you beat each battle at least once you will earn the respective "Finish [whatever] campaign" achievement.

The "Finish [whatever] campaign without being defeated even once" achievements all work the same way. As you progress through a campaign each win earns you a little white trophy icon in the upper left corner of the battle selection tile. If you break your streak you will lose the trophy icons of the PREVIOUS battles in that campaign. To safely finish a gaming session without losing progress make sure you leave your last battle setup screen with MENU cn_start and select MAIN MENU before starting a new battle.

For efficiency you want to try to go unbeaten (d'uh) and win every battle just once. If you break your streak on your first play-through of any campaign just keep unlocking the battles because you will need to unlock them all anyway. Keep a long winning streak through the end of the campaign to avoid redoing as many battles as you can. The worst case scenario is losing the very last battle since ALL THE PREVIOUS trophies would get wiped.

Once all the battles are unlocked, locate the battles missing some of the trophies and do 3 or 4 of them STARTING IN REVERSE ORDER. That way if you goof up you still get to keep your progress for the later battles. For example, Pirate has 24 battles. If your streak started at battle 11 and you have trophies from [11-24], do the battles like this: [9-10] then exit to MAIN MENU, [5-8] then exit to MAIN MENU, then finish up [1-4]. If you fudge a button and lose battle 7 you will still keep the trophies on battles 8, 9, 10.

If you DO ANY of the following you WILL BREAK the winning streak: lose the battle, press cn_back AFTER you have begun the battle, start a battle and select END BATTLE from the cn_start MENU before winning the battle. Let me know if something else breaks the streak.

Change some settings...
From the Main Menu select SETTINGS
Tab over with cn_RB to GAMEPLAY and turn On "Unlock all units..."
Tab over with cn_RB to [DLC] BUGS and turn On "Enable debug tools"

What I used at the start of every battle...
  • At the battle setup screen press cn_LB, select Tribal and Clubber and drop 30 of them with cn_A in a safe place away from the action.
  • Now start the battle with cn_back and immediately pause the battle with cn_B
  • Press cn_right to select SHOOT
  • Click on cn_RS+cn_up and select either Projectile: Bomb or Projectile: Blunderbuss Bullets. I used the bombs on groups and bullets on flying enemies
  • Press cn_up to select Mode: Super Beam. If you get really close to enemies and lay a strafing stream from their feet to their head you can even blast them off the screen with Super Beam. Yes, even the Mammoths!
Win the battle...
  1. Zoom into the enemies and lay down a ton of bombs by strafing the cursor in the path of enemies with cn_down
  2. Unpause the battle with cn_B, wait a few seconds for the bombs to kill enemies then pause the battle again with cn_B
  3. Repeat
Look the for VICTORY! condition at the top of the screen and the PRESS cn_back TO CONTINUE message at the bottom. If you press cn_back at any other time it will break the win streak.

Enjoy!
