How to unlock the All Alone achievement in Tour de France 2017 - Definitive Guide
If you're having trouble with this one, it becomes much easier to do with a super rider.
First, go to Editor. Choose any team, press to highlight the riders, and to alter that particular rider's stats. Raise all stats up to max, which is 85. This rider will now dominate on mountain stages.
From here, go to My Tour > New Game > Custom > Amateur, at which point you'll create your own tour. Press to go to Tour de France 2017 stages, and using to add them, add Düsseldorf > Düsseldorf, then Nantua > Chambery. Setting the custom tour to just Nantua crashed the game, where starting with the time trial let it run properly.
Hit Next, then select Weak competition. Choose the team who has the rider you altered earlier. For the first stage, select Quick Stage and let the AI handle it. Nantua, select Play.
You'll likely start the stage inside the peloton. Ride as hard as possible and try to push into gaps to get to the front. As soon as you reach the front line, mash to attack and breakaway. A few other riders will try to join you, which is fine for now. This also gives the Attack! achievement.
Stop attacking when the red energy runs out, then set Control with so you can adjust effort with and . Early on, you'll want to stay around 40-50% power, using the blue energy and recovering red energy. Once red energy is back to full, go back to attacking to widen the gap. When you have half of your blue energy remaining, set to 25-30% power so you recover blue energy. This will be the general strategy throughout the stage.
The stage can be broken up into the three HC climbs - the first 33% of the way through the stage, the second 50%, and the third 90%. Up through the first HC, you may not be able to stay too far away from the AI. This is fine, as they're burning their energy trying to keep up with you, and will fall away by the end. Make saves at the top of each HC climb in case something goes wrong.
On this first climb, decide whether or not you're using feeds. There is an achievement for winning without them, but if you already have it, there's no point in making it harder, so if you're also going for Diet, ignore all feed instructions.
Make sure to use both your feeds with - hold it to consume the feed, tap it to switch feeds. I preferred to attack until the red was out, set to 50% power, then completely consume the red feed, attacking again once you're full on red. At the end of this second attack, completely consume the blue feed. By this point, you've broken away for 10kms, which is another achievement.
After reaching the top of the mountain, you're on the descent, aka the only time you'll need your brakes. On the right side of the HUD under the race map is a percentage, which is how steep the road is. When this number is lower than -6% (negative six) hold together to use Aerodynamic mode, keeping your speed and rapidly recovering. If the AI has kept up, you can hold behind one to auto-follow them, which helps take corners easier. When your energy is full, you can attack again, but you don't really make up time attacking downhill. At the bottom, between the two HC climbs, your feeds refill to max, whether you used them or not.
Second HC climb is the same, but without using the feeds. This is around the time the AI will stop trying to keep up with you and you'll be able to maintain a 3-4 minute lead. Third HC is the last opportunity to use your feeds. By the time you get to the top here, you should have at least a 6 minute lead, if not closer to 8 or 10. While there's still a bit to go before the end of the race, it's unlikely that anyone will be able to catch up in that time so long as you brake appropriately for corners.
Once you finish, this will unlock, as well as achievements for finishing, winning, Diet if you never consumed a feed, and Duo if a teammate was second.
