How to unlock the Builder V achievement in Townsmen - A Kingdom Rebuilt - Definitive Guide
This achievement is a frustrating amount of villagers. I recommend doin this on endless mode, but even then it took me a couple of hours to build up a town from scratch to a sprawling city. I also recommend doing this after level 40 so that you can use your extra crowns to give yourself an early leg up, including purchasing a marketplace, tavern, carpenter, treasury, etc. Choose an easy big or huge map. I personally did this on one of the seaside maps.
So first things first. Families and population is not the same thing. You can view the amount of families you have in one of the statistic tabs. To get 500 population, you need 250 families. As you will soon figure out, that is a lot of houses. Personally, I plotted out my design for the village ahead of time and I had all of my houses stacked up near each other to make it easier for the treasury guy to bang on people's doors shouting 'Tax Man.'
I strongly recommend a carpenter's workshop it will save you so much time. Put two people in it. Late in, build a second one and put two more in that when the first one can no longer keep up. This saves sooooooooooo much time and frustration. Because fire starts and spreads easily when everything is crammed in like sardines, and fire is more likely when buildings are damaged. Also, have a full fire watch tower coverage and keep it staffed.
Speaking of easy spreads - plague seems to work the same way. Social distancing may be a thing in this game. So either have 3-4 infirmaries stocked and spread out throughout your town, or play with quests and random events turned off. I recommend the latter. I tried the former and at high populations it would start with 60-70 sick people. That spreads fast and then people start leaving, which is counter productive.
I'd also recommend that you play without bandits, unless you need them for a particular achievement.
You will get the building achievements while going after this achievement. If you need any of the following, i recommend you do it here because you will have more workers than you know what to do with:
- 1000 tools produced
- 1000 jewelry produced
- 1000 sausages produced
- 250 weapons and armor produced
- 1000 beer produced
And so on.
