How to unlock the Broviet Russia achievement in Toy Soldiers: Cold War - Definitive Guide

Solo guide for Broveit Russia.

First off you need two controllers to do this by yourself. Once you have those, go to "Arms Race" and play it on Elite.

1. Hit "B" on your first controller, as it automatically puts you into the tank. If you don't get out, the planes will damage it.

2. Don't build anything until the planes go away the first time! As soon as you're able, hit "X" to start every wave early. Don't worry, you'll have more than enough time before they get to your turret.

3. Once the planes go away, using your second controller, build a "Make-shift turret" in the small land plot, nearest to your Toy Box. Upgrade it (still with the second controller) once.

4. Destroy first three waves, upgrade to level three.
Zoom second controller out so you can see how much time you have, before they make it to you.

5. Keep an eye on your turrets health. Repair it every time you get a chance (you'll be drowning in money; that's not an issue) and whenever it has roughly 25% life left.

That's it. One turret. It shits on everything - tanks and infantry alike.

I can contest this guide worked better than any mention guide on here.

Great method, super simple to do without a friend, though if i had one suggestion it'd be to add that in order to get a platinum medal players can't use wave list rewind at all during the game. Either way though, cheers.

No, way NetroDude! It works! That thing DOES shit on everything!! And you will have plenty of 'Barrages' (earned after a 40x streak) to call in while you're repairing it so that no one will enter the toy box! Thumbs up!

A + from me. Worked on my second try (first time, an infantry somehow sneaked past). My guess, is that NetroDude didn't have the skill as he still doesn't have this achievement to this very day. And it's the only one he's missing. Thanks Kelsey!

This doesn't work well at all. The waves of heavy tanks are too much for grenades to take out, if you're lucky you might take them out with the tank but even that is slow. I was narrowly able to get through the first wave of heavy tanks by using the missile at the very last second but the 2nd wave of tanks just rolled in like I was shooting a peashooter.

Gold medals means you either let units get inside your toy box, or you dont hit X to start the waves quick enough.

Great guide, its worth saying that you can only get 1 barrage at a time, so once 1 controller has a barrage - use the other controller. I managed to get a nuke and an AC130 for the final level.

You should really add not to use any barrages as well. Would have saved my from doing it multiple times if I new that in the guide.

I've tried this at least two dozen times since 10/2012. I always get screwed by the tanks on the final wave. Who has time to man an AC130 while manually controlling a makeshift, handling two controllers like hot potatoes? This is the last achievement I've needed since 10/2012 to 100% the game. Very annoying, especially since I had the game 100%'d before buying the DLC.

Not a great solution IMO. If you have two people playing then this would work with another guy manning anti tank or something. Second wave of tanks just rolls on through the makeshift when trying solo. Definitely possible this way but not easy. There are much better levels to do it on.

It may be a dumb question, but is everyone who can't manage this using both fire modes of the makeshift turret? The LT mortar-things destroy vehicles and the RT firecrackers crush infantry. Even with the jets constantly bombing my turret and receiving fire from RPGs and tanks, I was able to repair the turret while units were marching past it and still managed to kill everything before it got to the toybox.

This method worked perfectly for me the first time doing it, just need to manage your make-shift's health and use both R and L Triggers to fire both guns.

Takes a couple of trys to get used to but is soun. Thumbs up. What I would suggest is using a barragepower on the heavy tanks (i used carpet bomber and it saved me)and keep one for back up. When using two controllers: each one can have a barrage 'stored'. The commando / Ivan is awesome.

as stated above, remember to use both triggers, also you want Ivan as the barrage to use at the final wave, so if you dont get him first, just restart. then wait untill all the tanks are out and use, he can destroy all of the last two waves by himself

This took me two tries but worked well. It's important to repair on time or when you have a moment to spare. I ended up using the tank straight away to run up the hill and take out the enemy artillery and some of the first wave before I built my makeshift, and earned a barrage in the process that came in very handy.

To anyone complaining that this didn't work, you DEFINITELY were not holding the left trigger. I killed every tank as soon as they were in range. I even had 2 waves where I repaired while the tanks were in range, and still managed to kill them. This solution is perfect. The only trouble I had was paying attention to hit X in time. Also for some reason a soldier got stuck in the trenches and I had to go after him.
Worst case scenario, could you guys really not find someone just sit there in the roman candle holding both triggers while you control the tank or something?
During the last wave I switched to the tank as the enemy tanks were spawning and killed a couple of them before the infantry reached the box, just for good measure. I know you can do it with just the candle though since I did it once (but didn't get gold since I forgot to push X sometimes.)

Great solution, thank you very much!!!
A little thing to add - DO NOT DESPAIR! I got this on my third try. It's a bit luck based since the planes hit randomly. If they get your turret while 20 soldiers next to it - just restart. If planes miss you - good for you! Don't hesitate to use your tank when troops are far away, it helps a lot, especially against vehicles, they come half-dead to the turret and damage it less.
90% turret health seems like a waste of money to repair BUT it can do all the difference, remember!

Great solution once I opened the comments and was reminded of the left trigger for the makeshift. Thank you Mobius Evalon for the reminder. Holding both triggers down, rapid repair and running the tank with my left hand = achievement!

This achievement can be done on any level, it doesn't have to be on the DLC maps.

Jungle Heat is the 2nd level of the main campaign and the beauty of it is you don't have to deal with any air units (apart from Rambo shooting a few at the start)

For the set-up click the right stick to go into birds-eye view, and look so your toy box is at the bottom of the screen.
There are 4 build locations to the left of the road, there are 3 that are almost in a line, place an anti-tank on the middle one and level it up to level 3 as soon as possible (do it between waves so you're not left vulnerable). The other turret is a machine gun that should be placed on the build location closest to the toy box on the right hand side of the road (this should be kept at level 1)

Note:Launch waves as soon as you can

Keep an eye out for the red arrows that appear, these show where the enemies are spawning

The anti-tank turret is the main turret, this should kill 90% of the enemies, the other turret is just to mop up any small amounts of infantry that get through

When the anti-tank is at level 3 be sure to guide the missile by holding the right trigger after firing, the right stick directs the missile, to slow it down pull back the left stick, the aforementioned red arrows are important for this as it gives the chance to kill many infantry while they are bunched up at the spawn, it also gives you the chance to kill tanks early

All waves are pretty easy apart from the last one, try and keep a barrage special ability for this, if the machine gun guy gets 1 even better. Use a nuke/bombing run/commando pretty early in the wave (5-7 seconds), on the bazooka infantry that spawn in the middle area, if the anti-tank guy has to leave his turret to do this be quick to get back onto it to finish off the tanks

Shoot the scenery when you have the time, this can be quite helpful in saving some extra cash

Feel free to comment any suggestions

Of course it's a DLC cheevo it comes with the Evil Empire pack, people don't usually state in their solutions which DLC pack a cheevo comes with as they generally already know - common sense

So why would you state and I quote "This achievement can be done on any level, it doesn't have to be on the DLC map." And mind you i do have them down loaded.

By SENTINAL 107 on 18 Feb 2013 01:43
I states that because it would be easy to assume that it has to be done on a DLC map since it is a DLC cheevo, again it doesn't have to be done on a DLC map. Oh so that's what you meant previously. Taking into account the 11 positive votes and my own achieving of this achievement, something is wrong on your end so I'll speculate and offer some solutions; Make sure your DLC has downloaded properly, Settings>System>Storage>Select the device/cloud>Games and apps>Toy Soldiers CW, locate the DLC if it has a yellow exclamation on it then it's corrupted or I would just delete it and download it again anyway. The only other thing I can think of is the network didn't pick both players or something like that.

You can beat the map (Jungle Heat) with a single flamethrower turret (don't know the name of this chemical turret) directly next to your toybox. Fully upgraded it kills light armor and even heavy armor tanks. You can reach every enemy unit with this turret somewhere on its path and the turret does so much collateral damage to all sides that you can concentrate on single soldiers close to the toybox while everything else gets destroyed. The final wave probably needs some additional firepower from the sky, so save an orbital laser etc for the end. You also have to repair your turret once.

I was doing this solo and had troubles with both of these solutions. They're great solutions but after a few attempts with each I just couldn't get it to work. So I combined them and did it on the first try while pressing X immediately to advance the waves every time.

So first, play on Jungle Heat, the 2nd level in the main campaign. This way you only have to worry about tanks damaging your turrets. So when you start the level player 1 is Rambo, so just blow up as much as possible to get as much money as you can. Then immediately build a Make-Shift turret next to the toy box (on the right of it) and upgrade it. Upgrade it to level 3 as soon as you can. If you are quick enough you can do it before the guys from the first wave reach you, but if not just do it after you kill the first wave, you'll have plenty of time before the second wave.

Once you are at level 3 on the Make-Shift, you want to point the target at the road directly in front of the toy box. This way, you can get everyone from every side and get any soldiers sneaking into the box.

Once player 1 has enough money to buy an Anti-Tank turret ($700) then get out of the Make-Shift and put Player 2 into it. I then put rubber bands on both of the triggers of the 2nd controller and just left Player 2 in the Make-Shift, pointing at the road in front of the toy box. Then I had Player 1 build an Anti-Tank turret at the second closest position to the toy box (on the left) and I just used this turret to help take out tanks so it wouldn't damage the Make-Shift too much.

The only tricky part of this solution is to repair the Make-Shift. At some point the tanks will damage it and it'll need repairs. You'll have to take the rubber bands off, leave the turret, repair, get back in the turret, and then put the rubber bands on. I tried to repair with the rubber bands still on and it didn't work.

I only did one repair and never upgraded the Anti-Tank and still got 85% on saving money. So you could probably afford a 2nd repair, an upgrade to the Anti-Tank, or possibly both. I didn't try this though.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Great strategy. The makshift clears everything. I didn't build a 2nd turret until my makeshift got destroyed on the final wave and i just built an anti tank which cleared the last 2 tanks.

absolutely great stuff! made the makeshift on the right near the toybox entrance and another makeshift on the left side of the entrance.. Held down both triggers on both pads and immediately started waves as it was possible. No repairs needed and it absolutely rekt stuff (even the many tanks on the last wave, 2 makeshift turrets are quite OP!) :)

Thanks! +1 :)

It took a few tries, but 2 makeshifts really did the trick. Keep an eye on the health of your guns on the final stage, and you may have to repair one before the last tanks reach the toy box. Having a barrage on hand just in case really is wise. Great solution. Thanks! +1.

* Read entirely first so you know what to expect from the run.

This is the easiest and cleanest way to achieve this (at least in relation to the other guides here).

Done by yourself with 2 controllers. Although you will only use 1 controller to play. And 1 unit throughout 19 waves.

Map: Jungle Heat (Elite)

1. As soon as the game starts destroy the helicopters with Rambo and keep destroying stuff in the enemy bases and overall map. When it's time expires you should have between $2000 and $3000.

2. Press the right stick on P2 controller to view the map from a top perspective and zoom in until you can easily see the soldiers running and at the same time know from what direction they're coming. This is the only thing you need to do with the second controller, so put it away.

3. Build a makeshift turret in the closest spot to the right of the toy box and immediately upgrade it to level 2. Hop in and burn the soldiers.

4. When tanks are about to appear for the first time upgrade the makeshift to level 3, not before. Dealing with soldiers coming from both paths is easy if you aim towards the intersection where the left path joins the center path. This is super close to the toy box but aiming right there kills every soldier coming from the left direction once they arrive to the central path.

5. Always aim for the bigger tanks when big + small tanks are coming closer (this happens on the later waves). Focusing on the bigger tanks guarantees that you won't need to repair your unit more than twice in the run and the repairs are done usually the first time between waves 16 and 18, depending on when you see that you have time and you're low on turret health. The last repair is done once the final wave starts. P2 map view let's you see exactly in what point of the road you're dealing the most damage. This is mostly useful when dealing with the big tanks.

IF your unit is destroyed by the last 2 or 3 tanks immediately build an anti tank and shoot them.

Barrages: using them throughout the run is OK but make sure you save one for the last wave. It might come in handy especially if your unit is destroyed by the last tank.

Results: your savings in the end of the session should be more than 5 minutes of saved time if you constantly pressed X throughout the run (think of it as a shooting button so you're constantly tapping it and don't waste time activating new waves). And 80-85% of money saved.

With the 3 gold medals you get a platinum and the achievement pops for both profiles.
