Arcade is in Multiplayer mode. After you select it, choose the middle option for Official Campaign Tracks. Choose the first race for a short quick race. The achievement unlocks right away.

i had to exhaust all credits and enter my initials on a leaderboard before the cheevo unlocked.

Yep I also had to use all of the credits and then enter my initials on the leaderboard for the achievement to unlock

Agreed, you must use all 3 credits.

No need to use all credits, just one race, then select give up from menu and enter initials.

Definitely need to enter your name for this to unlock. But didn't need to use all my credits.

Lots of down votes. Here's my notes
(you don't need 2 controllers, not that you said you do, I think this should be in the solution bc of the word multiplayer used)
I **DID** need to do all 3 races, the give up option did not work for me.
They are VERY short races. Like less than 2 mins a round. 3 Rounds.

This part of the other solution is correct:

Arcade is in Multiplayer mode. After you select it, choose the middle option for Official Campaign Tracks. Choose the first race for a short quick race.

However, the achievement does not unlock right away. You need to complete a track, and the game only counts it as complete once you've set a time and entered your name in the high scores.

The fastest way to do this is to complete the track once, and then pause and "give up." This will allow you to jump straight to the option of entering your name. Once you do so, achievement unlocked!
