This guide relies on the East Coastway DLC since the Class 40 can be accessed in this DLC pack.
You can also access this train in Northern Trans Pennine DLC but I found the constant up and down hill gradients and constant speed limit changes very cumbersome, if you don't have East Coastway then this is the only way to access the Class 40.
Go to East Coastway and select Timetables, then select "Class 40 BLU"
There is only one service available called "Vintage Railtour 12:44"
Set up the train and wait a few mins after departure time because there is another train which will come through and using the same line as you keeping the Red signal just in front of you on red, if you leave immediately on Yellow/Green then you will catch up to this train, so the waiting is to stop you catching up to this train such that you hit a Red signal.

Get the train going up to full throttle and then when you get up to 50mph just before the 80 speed limit marker, make a save. Now the train should stay within the speed limits for about the next 8-9 mins and the speed limit even goes up to 90 before dropping right back down to 35 eventually.
When you get to the 35 speed limit marker, you should quit out and reload your save.
You should get about 9-10 miles each time and it should only take about 8-9 mins each time. Making this achievement obtainable in about 6-7 hours of grinding.
