How to unlock the LIRR: Making Headway achievement in Train Sim World 2020 - Definitive Guide

I had to reach level 11 to get this to pop. Just keep doing scenarios and services to gain XP until you get there. The more stops to pick up passengers the better as each stop gets you 950+ XP for the stop and passenger load.

The below method may have been patched out:
You can also save on the final passenger load task before a service finishes when the ring is about 75% of the way filled up. Then after finishing the service return to the main menu and select Last Played and you can complete the last passenger task again and again. You don't get as much per passenger loading as you would doing actual stops and unloads, but you don't have as much time between stops either. It just comes down to your console's loading times and how fast it can reload into the service each time.

Yep, I made this solution before I figured that out. That works for many achievements like completing X number of services, completing X number of passenger loading tasks, etc.

This doesn't seem to work anymore unless there's a beneficial bug? I saved before hitting the lock doors and gained 7600xp only once. Every reload displays the same XP level 4 I got to.

I think this may have been patched as saving also saves the exact level and XP you have at the time so when you go back to last played, the XP and level increases will always be the same, it never carries over. So if you levelled up from 5 to 6 then loaded back in, it'll give you the same level up from 5 to 6.

Well that's a bummer. :\ I wonder if that also applies to things like distance travelled in certain trains because that's a technique I definitely used there also, loading up a save where I was already at full speed, continuing for 5-10 miles where I didn't have to slow down, then reloading the save and doing it again instead of stopping and starting.

For the GWE ones, that still worked. Probably works for this too though I'm combining the 700 miles achievement with the other ones like reaching level 10, etc

I don't know if it was actually going up at the time (I had it saved just before the doors closed) but it was just working now (saved before opening the doors at the end). Was expecting it to increase by several thousand AP each time but instead it increases by 500AP each time, so it does work still. Was just a little confused as it didn't look like it was working before but u noticed it had eventually moved up a little bit after some time while going for the 70 services completed achievement

What worked for me is to do a simple service from the timetable and save your game right after giving your train the command for locking the doors after your final 'loading passengers'. If you keep going back to 'last played' from the menu you will complete the route from the timetable in a matter of seconds, giving you around 500 AP for completing the task of loading and unloading your passengers. The rest of the AP this route gave you will not be duplicated, you will only get AP for the task at this final station.
