You do not have to do 50 separate services.
I did 50 from the timetable - no achievement, so I assumed empty stock movements don't count.
I then saw i was on 37/127 on services, so I assumed I needed to get that to 50 - no, it popped on 48.
I kept replaying Summer Saturday return to boost class 101 mileage.

I had 35 completed services from the timetable when I received this achievement. I am not 100% sure, but I have a strong feeling you can 'cheat' this achievement by saving your game just a few seconds before finishing the route (when almost done unloading passengers at the final stop) and keep replaying the last few seconds. This will not give you additional AR or milage, but it surely might help working towards the 50 services.

Once I reached level 20 and had done everything apart from Services and 1001 miles with DMU in this DLC I thought I'd try the save / reload method. Loaded up Class 08 > RB04 - Stabling Move which takes 5 minutes and saved just before I came to a halt. Reloaded save and after 6 or 7 goes it popped
