I found the easiest level for this was the boss level in Season/Chapter 3.
The level starts slowly, but build a circle around the middle of the map to eventually connect all of the stations and deploy as many additional trains as you feel comfortable with. Save your money and then once you have enough go around and remove three of the large buildings next to the stations worth 100K. My run was close, I was right at 300K at the end, but did it on my first try.

This is most easily accomplished on level 4-5; you're going to have to destroy some buildings anyway as part of your building railroad tracks, and you can get large amounts of money on this map. Try to max out your money and minimize track-building, then as your last train is pulling into the station, demo buildings (note: buildings! Trees don't count! I'm not sure if construction sites do, either - to be safe, demolish houses and skyscrapers) until you're almost out of money, then complete the map.
