How to unlock the Donkey Challenge achievement in Trials HD - Definitive Guide

This achievement is like 'Marathon' if it were on one track.

You must choose the 'Barrel of Laughs' track.

You must have access to the Micro Donkey bike, it is a mini bike, very quick and nippy, but also extremely prone to flipping on full throttle.

My tips are to get a feel for the track. The whole track. Break the track up into little segments and practice on these segments until you can nail each one flawlessly. Devise your personal strategy for taking that jump, climbing that hill etc.

Dont restart the track just because you got one fault or more. Keep going from the place you got the fault and see if you can complete the track and finish with the same fault and no more.

With time and practice, you will achieve it.

There is no easy way to do this achievement. Just oldschool practice and learning from your mistakes.

It might help you if you found a video of someone running through it, but I personally think it wont benefit you because there will be different approaches to the same jump or climb, find one that you can consistently perform flawlessly.

Good luck and stay patient.

Exactly how I did it. Whatching the leaderboards is also useless, they don't use the Micro Bike. Just keep practicing, and it will come. :)

Top advice in this solution! Practice, practice, practice till your eyes bleed and your thumbs fall off........or until you have the acheivement......

This one sucked. Can't believe how low the TA ratio is on it. But the key was practice, practice, & more practice.

I'm started with 12 faults and now I'm down to 2. So frustrating! Only tip so far is stop when you get frustrated! lol

The low TA ratio on this game makes me question if the TA ratio should be calculated differently. Obviously mostly expert players buy DLC so it is skewed. What does everyone else think? I can't think of any proper solution though.

It used to be that the DLC counted as part of the game. That way, tough DLC achievements had insane ratios. The site held a vote on whether to change it or not, or have a mid-point. I voted for a mid-point calculation. But the majority voted to change it so that DLC stands on its own. I completely disagree with that decision as it punishes those who actually fork out and make that extra effort for DLC achievements. Bear in mind the majority on this site are casuals, and so it would make their completion percentage better by voting to punish hardcore gamers :(. For example, master ninja of missions in NG2 has a lower ratio than Master Ninja, but the missions were much MUCH harder than the master ninja story mode. Oh well, majority rules...

Majority rules, the disadvantage of democracy LOL, you're right though DLC should definitely be part of the game

I was gearing up for a hard fight after reading this opening statement. However, compared to Marathon I found Barrels easier, more fun and certainly less nerve-racking.

The mini donkey will test your ability to throttle control. The track itself is nothing special. When in doubt, don't flat out! Feather/tap the gas and control the bike by leaning. Let your momentum do the work. Easier said than done for sure though...

One last thing, my game stuttered frequently on the 1X. So much so that I ended up installing it on my 360. And Voilà! Stable as ever.

Im stuck on the exploding barrel at the 2nd checkpoint. I can’t seem to be consistent when leaning back full throttle off the jump is either to high and I smack my head flipping over the handle bars or not getting the back tire on top of the drum.

Double boxing this helped out alot, using the dummy to do each jump 50X helped but this was still rage inducing. Not as bad or sweaty as Marathon though.

Finally got this one. Best tip: Continue through the whole track even when you mess up and try to finish it with no faults.

For those who would like a video that's a little clearer than the ones posted below, I recorded my run from a couple days ago. Hopefully this helps:

First, there's a video at the bottom (Not mine)...the quality kinda sucks but the technique is pretty good.

To expand on YEME7H's solution:

-You get the micro donkey bike by completing the National Bike Cup tournament with all golds...not too difficult.

-The micro donkey does flip over alot, but if you gas it and immediately lean forward as far as you can, you'll usually pop a small (and very stable) wheelie.

-In the video, the jump at 14s, I found easiest to do by stopping completely, gassing it and pulling back after you hit the ramp. Continue to hold back and your back tire will tap the top of the block and you'll pop up into a perfect position to land in. If you don't hold back all the way, you'll smash your face lol.

Other than that, everything YEME7H said is good advice: practice the whole track each time! Took me about three hours to get (I'm not particularly good either)

You don't have to be perfect, just faultless. Just to show, I landed on my head a few times and still pulled off a faultless run.

Edit: I added a vid where I did a lot better.

Here is the Our Xbox World video for this achievement done by myself with narration. Just take your time and never give up, probably one of the toughest achievments in the game for me but practice will get you though.

Very tough, thanks to the handling of the bike you have to use.
